moreResolved Question: Do you think JNTO's goal of 10 million inbound tourists to Japan by 2010 will be achieved?
Just wondering what everyone thinks of JNTO's goal of getting 10 million tourists to Japan by 2010, and then on to 20 million in 2020. Do you think that, looking at current numbers and trends, it is achieveable, or even conceivable?
Reasons for:
- The tourism board has set up a Facebook and Twitter account to reach and attract people
- 2010 has been announced as a 'Visit Japan' year
- A new 'Visit Japan 2010' website has been launched
- Increased tourism budgets
- London Underground advertising campaign
- Competition held for US citizens
- Information packs being sent out to the US citizens who took part in the contest
- Pop culture (Anime, Manga, music, video games, movie) interests increasing abroad
- English more widely used
- Growing Asian market
Reasons against:
- Cost of a trip there is very high
- Considered a racist nation by some
- Peoples perceptions are different from the actual place
- Language barrier
- Too confusing a place
- Options of cheaper package holidays (especially popular in Britain)
- Lack of interest
- Youth (particularly in my country) deteriorating e.g. spending all money on drinking etc
- The ones with the strongest interest in going are too young to do so, and by adulthood, may have changed their minds
- It has taken 3 years (2004 - 2007, about 6 million to about 8 million) in the past to achieve the 2 million tourists they need to hit the 10 million mark, while they now expect to do that by the end of this year

moreVoting Question: SAT passage reading question PLEASE?
can anyone interpret and explain this paragraph?
To contend zealously must mean surely to struggle with ardent devotion. the zeal which fires a crusading editor may bring him to the boiling point of fanaticism, and has done it time and again. none who has undertaken a campaign in the certainty that it would entail loss of circulation and advertising, perhaps permanently, was not a fanatic, just on the sunny side of lunacy. skeptics who deny that campaigns are ever undertaken for other than sordid motives may disabuse their minds by examining the record. if newspapers have faced actual losses in the discharge of their duties as public servants, then they have an unmistakable claims to the guarantee of the first amendment.
also there is question and i dont know WHY.
the question is
The "skeptics" believe that newspapers
a) are becoming less popular
b)are fundamentally self serving
c) are fanatical about political causes
d)do not take advantage of the first amendment
e)should be replaced by other forms of media
by the way answer is (b) and i dont know why because i dont understand the passage

This may look lengthly, but it will take you two minutes to read it...Please open your eyes...
Many of us point our fingers to Israel and blame them for poverty in the world. We can yell and scream and cry over palestine, but what about Africa, Asia etc.?
You know WHY we aren't aware of our damage? Because it's too hard, we don't want to know. Because media rarely advertises it. Just because it isn't popular, it doesn't mean it isn't happening
There are so many things that we may be doing that cause the poor to get poorer in other countries:
☞ Farmers in Africa are given poisonous pesticides which can give them cancer amongst other diseases. This is done for the "fresh" fruit and veg we buy from certain supermarkets
☞Women and children are raped in sweatshops. Is it worth it? Certain companies like nike have sweatshops in the poorest countries. The workers have no other choice. Check the lable of your clothes. "Made in India...Pakistan..." --do you seriously think that these people are given fair working conditions?
☞ Jewellery sourced from places like africa are mined by CHILDREN sometimes. Do you know how many diseases those kids could get? Imagine the treatment theyre facing...
☞ Our waste are sent to third world countries. There, women and children are picking and seperating our waste into different categories. This is their daily life. No school, no play...they have to pick out OUR rubbish...
☞ Oil companies have oil spills, gas flaring and pollution. These aren't things to be ignored. It happens. People get diseases and die. They have to get water from places that are sooo far away.
http://www.protectthehuman.com/shell (A short video about shell's oil effects)
These are just a few of the things that WE cause and contribute to.
And you may want to ignore it.
WE've become numb because this happens everyday...
But we can change....lets become more aware of where our products are going.

moreResolved Question: Didn't candidate Obama promise "Special Interest Groups would have NO influence in HIS Administration?
So WTH do you call this?
(be sure to read to end)
By MATTHEW KAMINSKI
Oakland, Calif.
Flexing his influence, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern turned up at the White House 22 times in the first six months of the Obama administration, more than anyone else on the visitor logs released last month.
But the good vibes in Washington contrast with the troubles inside the house of labor itself. Unions are competing for shrinking turf and members, and the most ferocious intramural battle today involves Mr. Stern's union here in California.
For the past 10 months, the SEIU has fought to hold on to 150,000 members in its Union of Healthcare Workers affiliate, or UHW. The challenge comes from a group of former UHW leaders and Stern confidantes. Pushed out by Mr. Stern after a prolonged power struggle, they started a rival outfit, the National Union of Healthcare Workers, or NUHW, in January and immediately moved to build it up by wooing away members from the SEIU's local, UHW.
Now these upstarts charge that the UHW threatened workers with deportation and tampered with secret ballots to narrowly win a pivotal election last summer in Fresno, Calif. The NUHW allegations, contained in a complaint filed last Friday and previously not made public, take the battle to a new level.
The June vote was in a "decertification" election—in which some 10,000 home-care workers were asked to choose between the UHW that already represented them or the NUHW. Old labor hands say they've never seen a decertification vote like this.
The SEIU shipped in 950 or so staff and spent an estimated $10 million on mailings, advertising, phone banks, door-to-door canvassing and the like. The NUHW doesn't have this kind of firepower. At a rally for staff in late May, David Regan, an SEIU executive vice president who took over the UHW in January, roared that, "We gotta give a butt-whipping they will never forget." When the secret ballots were mailed in and counted, the SEIU won that vote by a sliver, 2,938 to 2,705.
The NUHW immediately called for a re-run of the election, challenging voting irregularities. The two unions have traded accusations since. But now, Carlos Martinez, an immigrant from El Salvador who was on the SEIU's staff during the campaign, has come forward—so he says—to blow the whistle on his employer. Mr. Martinez went door-to-door canvassing the home-care workers during the 15-day election. Like him, many of them are native Spanish speakers; some are illiterate.
Speaking in an interview over a sandwich at a hotel in the Bay Area late last month, Mr. Martinez says he was instructed by superiors to tell the workers that if they voted against the SEIU, they could lose their medical benefits, see their green cards or citizenship revoked and possibly be deported. He says he and other staffers were also told to pressure voters to spoil ballots that had been filled out for the NUHW. In other instances he filled ballots out for them. He says he even took some to the post office, as did other SEIU campaign workers!

moreResolved Question: Why is religion allowed to create and sell products which are marketed to imitate trademarked slogans?
Inspired by this question about Oakley sunglasses:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090731071052AAflUSu
Oakley created a bumper sticker which said, "OAKLEY. Thermonuclear Protection." Shortly thereafter a Jesus version emerged, "JESUS. Eternal Protection."
Years ago the "got milk?" ad campaign propelled dairy farming to new heights. Shortly therafter, whole billboards with "got Jesus?" began to appear across the U.S.
While the originators of the precursors to the Jesus-styled advertising cannot take Jesus to court, it seems like they ought to sue religious groups that use these to associate themselves with popular products.
Do churches that receive the donation of someone inspired by a "got Jesus?" billboard while travelling down the interstate to a brothel send any royalties to the advertisers who originated "got milk?" Or, do they pocket the monies and use them to fund the Jesus juggernaut?
moreVoting Question: Help with advertising idea?
This is my problem; I have an idea for a Hershey campaign but I'm not sure how to protect my idea so when I submit it, they simply don't take it. (I'm not questioning the integrity of Hershey, they tell you to do it.)
For my idea, I parodied a very popular song, this is where I am in a jam. (no pun intended) Obviously I don't have the rights to the song, which I'm assuming belongs to a record company or to the artist themselves. So how can I protect a parody? I'm assuming, if Hershey does like my idea enough (Cross my fingers) that they would go and deal with the artist in question. I'm only 18 so obviously I'm a little limited, and it's hard to play ball with the big corps.
As of now, I think if I submit my idea to Hershey, they could simply use it, without regards to me. Please help me

Anyone else repulsed by this whole advertising campaign?By the way, just to pre-empt any of these possible comments, I'm not unhappy with these adverts because I'm unpopular. I have 52 phone contacts, so I do qualify for their deals. But I would never take one, even if it was an amazin deal, because I think it's horrible that they're trashing unpopular people. Most of my friends are grossly unpopular, and they're all WONDERFUL people.

Hi:) Could you look through my writing and correct my grammatical mistakes? It is a part of my coursework. Thank you very much for your help!
Advertising is one of the most popular form of communication with customers whose purpose is to inform potential customers about products and services. Advertising typically attempts to persuade potential customers to buy products or services. Adverts are usually designed to a domestic audience and the same domestic advertising campaign will be not as efficient is different countries as it is in home country. Usually, the main purpose of advert is to convince people that the product is perfect for them. People believe that by purchasing a product they will receive some benefits (status, lifestyle etc.). When advert is realised abroad, different people may have different priorities in life and the advert will be not successful.
The entire range of Lynx’s adverts is a great example of convincing people that that they will receive some certain benefits if they will purchase a product. Lynx mainly targets their deodorants to teenage males. In their advert adverts they are using average looking males who spray themselves with the deodorant to demonstrate how the lynx deodorants affect males. Lynx adverts promote that their fragrance attract girls and it is their main point of marketing campaign.
Sometimes it could be difficult for to countries, such as The United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates to accept or even understand each other's persuasions. In many countries some kinds of adverts, may be not allowed and banned to show in television or displayed in public places. For example, the United Arab Emirates has strict rules on advertisements. Anything related to alcohol is to allowed to show and there can’t be any skin shown, they cover legs up to the knees and eyes are usually closed or pixelized. They still imports magazines from other countries; however they censor every publication by hand using a black marker.

moreResolved Question: Did you know that it does not take $250K to be rich anymore? The new limit is $75K. What are your thoughts?
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 contains the popular "Making Work Pay" Tax Credit. What has not been widely published was that individuals earning above $75K would not receive the full benefit as advertised. At $95K, there are no benefits whatsoever.
At this rate, it appears that anyone with an actual tax liability will be considered rich eventually. There was already a significant penalty in Obama's original plan when one rose above the welfare/net tax credit line. That was when the line for rich was $250K or $200K. It kept changing.
If 95% of taxpayers--I mean working families--received a lower tax bill under Obama's campaign plan of lower taxes under $250K, how is the number still 95% with a limit that is less than half? Obama is still using the 95% with the lower limits in his White House press release.
http://dpc.senate.gov/pdf/wh/040109_mwp.pdf
Based on average hourly pay from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 40 hours x 52 weeks x $29.18 per hour = $60,694.40. This is bigger than expected with the whole 95% claim. I guess it includes part-time workers, semi-retired workers, and high school kids.

Pop Art
It is a new artistic concept, is the essence of an extensive cultural movement of the sixties. It has a connection with the state of mind of a period that is the answer to the media slogans whose histories made history and whose models influence in the people.
The popular culture and the way of life are associated with the sixties. This cultural demonstration was purely western: the USA was the center of this program.
The pop art artistically analyzes the fact that the World has been growing by the capitalist and technological conditions of the industrial society. The beginnings of the Pop Art were in New York and in England.
The political and economic stabilization in the postwar period led to a “reassessment” of something that in general is designed as popular.
Psychologists studied the societal consumption and created a marketing system to take a commercial advantage of the customers’ wishes. Thus, getting closer to the consumers and buyers, creating products for costumer demand and media campaigns. This affected individual behaviors and in the interpersonal relationships. Everyone could adore collecting knickknacks, reading comics, eating hot-dogs, drinking Coca-Cola, etc. Pop Art is based on this.
The themes of Pop Art are based in everyday life. Pop Art captures the realities of a period and the cultural change, the predisposition of a new generation, and this culture transforms into the style and the art.
People felt free to express themselves in this Cultural Revolution. This led to new fads and forms of expression. It is almost ridiculous that artists, critics and educators allow themselves to be surrounded bye the trivial culture and crammed their houses with popular and nostalgic art, relics, and publicity symbols, playing with banality and enjoyed reading comics, science fiction literature, cheap novels and TV mania.
The music and the lyrics of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones translated the state of mind, the euphoria, the nerve, the power and the realities of the young people of the sixties. That’s why artists like Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton and Andy Warhol designed disc jackets for musical groups like The Beatles and Velvet Underground of course using the Pop Art style.
Pop Art is expressed through painting, sculpture, music, cinema, photography and literature. Pop Art paintings have many styles, for example some of them are based on comics, other are made of a combination of collage and painting. Some of them are made at different levels. Most of the sculptures are based in things that we normally see, like typewriters, cigarettes, clothing, toilets, or even tables.
My conclusion is that Pop art is an every day item that is drawn in a brash and colorful way. It is inspired by comic strips, advertising, and popular entertainment. I like this kind of arte because I think that is an art that don’t follow all the rules and we can see the reality of our world.

Around the world, atheists hit road to knock down God
by Prashant Rao Prashant Rao – Mon Jan 19, 1:07 am ET AFP/File – An artists impression of a London bus with the slogan 'There's probably no God. Stop worrying …
LONDON (AFP) – An atheist drive to persuade people that God doesn't exist is catching on in a surprising fashion -- on the sides of buses in a growing number of countries around the world.
With the concise message "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life," the campaign took to the road in Britain this month, while similar drives are underway or planned in Spain, Italy, Canada and Australia.
The British campaign was originally floated by comedy writer Ariane Sherine in a newspaper column in June, and is hoping to reach the majority of the country's population in some fashion or another over the next three weeks.
"We could never have imagined it would have gotten this big, and we would have raised quite this amount of cash," campaign co-founder Jon Worth, a political blogger and website designer, told AFP.
"It's astounding."
Sherine wrote her column after advertisements began appearing on central London buses directing passers-by to a website that told those who did not accept Christianity that they would suffer for eternity in hell.
Soon after it was published, Worth contacted her asking if he could set up a pledgebank based on her idea, and shortly thereafter, the Atheist Bus Campaign began taking donations, initially hoping to raise 5,500 pounds (6,200 euros, 8,200 dollars).
To date, it has raised upwards of 140,000 pounds, enough to pay for advertisements on 800 buses across Britain -- 200 in central London alone -- along with 1,000 posters in London's Underground trains and two video screens in a popular Tube station, all for a full month ending in early February.
Unsurprisingly, the campaign has struck a nerve among God-fearing commuters, prompting around 200 complaints to Britain's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which regulates commercials here.
By way of comparison, the most complaints the ASA has ever received over an advert was 1,600.
The watchdog needs just one complaint to investigate an advertisement, which are judged on a variety of factors including harm, offence, taste and deceny as well as factual accuracy, but will wait until next week to decide whether or not to probe the Atheist Bus Campaign's ads.
"A few religious people have complained to the ASA, which seems rather odd, as if they (the ASA) will be able to make a judgment about the evidence on that sort of issue," said Peter Cave, chair of the Humanist Philosopher's Group, which advises the British Humanist Association.
Along with opposition in Britain, attempts to engineer a similar campaign in Australia have run into obstacles, with the country's biggest outdoor advertising agency APN Outdoor deciding to reject a bid by the Atheist Foundation of Australia for ad space.
"Any company really has the right to refuse a service to a customer, but in this instance, you have to wonder," foundation president David Nicholls told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Atheists in Italy and Spain, however, have had more success with their attempts.
Buses with a similar slogan to the Atheist Bus Campaign's message, translated into Catalan, began appearing on two routes in Barcelona on Monday, with plans to extend the campaign to the rest of the country.
In Italy, meanwhile, buses with the slogan "The bad news is that God does not exist. The good news is that we do not need him" will begin traversing the northern Italian city of Genoa on February 4.
Here in Britain, apart from opposition from religious groups, some atheists are unhappy with the inclusion of the word "probably", principally added so that it would adhere to British advertising rules.
Cave, though not in agreeance with the word's inclusion, noted that the campaign is trying to make a broader point.
"I can see no evidence for God just as I can see no evidence for pineapples floating around the moon," he said.
"I don't say there probably aren't any pineapples floating around the moon, I just say I know there aren't any pineapples floating around the moon. But, it's a piece of marketing, and I think it's good because it makes people think."

The average cost for a television commercial is about $200,000 for one 30-second commercial during prime time. The magazine ads are $1,200 to $5,000 per month or per issue depending on the ad size and demographics. Online ads are $0.60 pay-per-click or $1,200 - $1,800 a month for aggressive campaigns, although it does not include search engine optimization. Banner ads on websites can cost $200 to $1,200 per year and per banner. Websites cost $150 annually for domain and hosting, plus what you determine your budget to be for design and maintenance. A reasonable bottom line budget for an author without a large body of work for a basic site is about $500.
Each of these advertising approaches will make a great impact on the consumer while convincing them to buy our product. Television commercials, magazines ads, online ads, and celebrity endorsement, are most favorable and popular today by society and will also help promote the merchandise. The target audience is anyone who enjoys listening to music. The cost effectiveness of the product is reasonably priced and well worth every penny. Also, the redundancy capabilities can be modernize and altered for future representation.
Consequently, in order to sell the product Walk- Wear we will use a variety of different and alluring forms of media to capture the consumer. Television commercials, magazines ads, online ads, along with celebrity endorsements will help promote our product while making a new fashion trend.

to charity and my church. I have a vision about this though, and
how much it will expand in the coming year. I just started my mail order business. And I see hard to find, merchandise through the mail
for about $20 a piece. And when I had a CEO of a popular magazine
put in a full page ad back in May 0f 2008. It was crazy ! I made my
first real money in this business. And after it was all said and done
I had grossed about $900 dollars this year alone. I saw that you
could have a real and legit business right at home. And I work by the
way. But to have extra income coming in like that from all over the
world is incredible. Do you think that when I do this next advertising
campaign will I expand my business even more ? Will my mail order
business be a very profitable business in 2009 ?
moreResolved Question: Read this!! Want to be taxed for each mile you drive?
The following is an article from newsobserver.com. If you don't want to read the whole thing, it basically says that they are playing with the idea of taxing everyone for each mile they drive because more and more people will be turning to fuel efficient cars and not buying as much gas and they will be loosing the gas tax money.
What do you think of this?
==================================
Bruce Siceloff, Staff Writer
Comment on this story
Two hundred Triangle drivers will be recruited this fall to road-test a satellite-technology system that might be used one day to collect highway taxes on every mile we drive -- replacing the gas tax on every gallon we buy.
Computers mounted in volunteers' cars will use global positioning system tracking to count the miles -- even across state lines.
Participants will receive make-believe state and federal tax bills for their miles. For their time and their opinions, they'll be paid $895 in real money.
The $16.5 million Road User Charge Study will enlist drivers in six states to determine whether the technology works, and whether Americans would accept a new mileage tax. Volunteers will be asked how they feel about technology that collects information about their driving.
The federal government and 15 states, including North Carolina, are paying for the study to find a fair, reliable revenue source that can keep pace with growing transportation needs.
"The gas tax is not going to be a viable way of funding our highways in the future," Jon Kuhl, a University of Iowa professor who is directing the study, said in an interview. "The national Highway Trust Fund is already going broke, and the situation is going to get worse."
Gas tax collections are slowing as cars get more miles on each gallon, and as $4 pump prices force Americans to reduce their driving. A few years from now, many Americans might be driving plug-in electric and fuel-cell cars that don't use gas at all.
Michael Walden, an economist at N.C. State University, said the study will help Americans answer hard questions about how to pay for the nation's transportation infrastructure. He agreed with Kuhl that the nation needs to find a replacement for the gas tax.
"Perhaps a better way in terms of assessing someone's use of the roads is not how many gallons they use but how many miles they actually drive," said Walden, who is not involved in the study. "A mileage tax could be adjusted over time, as the cost of road construction goes up."
With the $895 bounty and an advertising campaign that will start next week, Kuhl and his team hope to enlist a diverse mix of car owners from the six-county Triangle area. Details are available by phone at 866-363-1975 (toll-free) or online at www.roaduserstudy.org.
After the participants are chosen and trained, their cars will be outfitted with GPS computers -- the satellite technology that drives popular dashboard navigation gadgets. Over eight months, starting in December, the car's computer will record the number of miles driven in each state, then upload the information to a central billing system.
Make-believe taxes
Cars will have make-believe per-mile tax rates based on their EPA-estimated fuel economy.
The tax rates are intended to generate about the same taxes on miles that the car pays in taxes on gallons of gas. The mileage tax would be higher for a heavy truck that burns a lot of gas, and lower for a fuel-thrifty hybrid.
A typical car rated at 24 miles per gallon will have a make-believe federal tax rate of 0.8 cents per mile, plus 1.3 cents per mile for the North Carolina tax, Kuhl said. For 24 miles, that's 31.2 cents state and 19.2 cents federal tax -- about a penny more than the current taxes on a gallon.
If the technology works, it could give federal, state and even local governments the option to set different tax rates for different vehicles.
Volunteers also will test of public attitudes about a new type of tax -- and about technology that gathers information about where people drive.
"Privacy is a hot-button issue," Kuhl said. "People rightly have a knee-jerk reaction about being tracked."
The system will only count the number of miles driven each month in a given state, he said.
"There's no way these units could be used to track people or determine they were in a particular place at a particular time," Kuhl said.
Some drivers will worry about government snooping, Walden said, and that could make it even harder to sell the idea of a new tax.
"I don't know if the mileage tax is going to be any better accepted than the gas tax, but I know we have a problem finding money for our roads," Walden said.

moreResolved Question: paper editing need help?
this paper is due tomorrow and i need it to be perfect my grade is riding on this paper:
Reasons Why Voter Turn Out Was So High in 2008
Voter turn out was exceptionally high this year due to minority candidates, new utilization of media and an unprecedented level of dissatisfaction with the incumbent regime.
The presence of candidates outside the realm of white male allowed a greater percentage of the electorate to identify with the major party candidates. Minorities went heavily into the Obama camp. African Americans voted 96 towards Obama while only a measly 3 percent went to McCain. No big surprise. Hispanic Americans also voted high for Obama giving him a whopping 67 percent while only 30 percent voted for McCain. Asians voted Obama 63 percent to 34 percent for McCain; McCain obviously wasn’t too popular in the minority section. Women's votes were a significant factor in Obama's victory, with a sizable gender gap evident in the election results. Women strongly preferred Obama to McCain, giving Obama a nice 56 percent for Obama, and 43 percent for McCain. Not a huge difference, one reason so many might have voted for McCain was that they were disappointed with Obama taking Hillary’s place as the democratic representative. White males however split their vote almost exactly even for the two presidential candidates giving Obama 49 percent while 48 percent voted for McCain. Age had a big part to play in the election Obama destroyed McCain Voters in the 18 to 24 age group voted 68 percent for Obama and 30 percent for John McCain, according to the exit polling. Those in the 25 to 29 age bracket went 69 percent to 29 percent in Obama's favor. Another reason I think that many people voted for Obama was that people like to be the first at things, they like to be able to say “ I was someone who helped get the first black president into office”. People like the feeling of having been apart of something people will remember if you say “I voted republican AGAIN” you don’t get the same feeling as knowing you voted for the first black president.
Obama’s use of new media allowed him to increase visibility, awareness of policy and the amount of money he was able to raise. One of the many things Obama used to advertise, I think the most effective was the Internet. Obama was all over the Internet he sent out e-flyers and had his campaign advertised on myspace, facebook, yahoo and other common web pages. In addition to that he sent out a bunch of emails to people asking if they would like to help support their cause and send them money. This was helpful because he could reach unregistered voters or aliens and get their support in other ways than voting. McCain jumped on the Internet train a little late and Obama had won most of the people who would be off the Internet. Obama had the support of Americas youth while McCain had the seniors, most seniors do not go on the Internet and browse myspace. Needless to say barrack mopped up in virtual America just as much, if not more, as in real America. Obama was also all over the television; he even had his own half hour of power called “The Obama Show” which postponed the World Series. On several comedy shows Obama was a big line so was McCain. The daily show, SNL and the Colbert report all focused on the election very closely on the election and its candidates. Many also commenting on George W Bush.
Speaking of Bush, at the time of the election the level of disapproval toward him was so great that a majority of the electorate wanted to be apart of the new and different president. In April of 2008 Bush had a disapproval rating of 69 percent, the highest it has ever been in American history. At the time of Nixon’s resignation he had a disapproval rating of 67 percent. When he was first elected there was a fifty, fifty approval rating. When he was elected a second time a lot of people still thought we needed him due to the Iraq war. At the time of the election Bush was approved by less that one quarter of America. McCain tried to distance himself from Bush but people were tired of the republican ticket and they wanted change. McCain’s ideas were just to close to Bush’s.
This election was very historical and the people who witnessed it were very lucky people who will someday be able to say “I was alive when Obama was elected”.
This paper was simply meant to inform you about some reasons why voter turn out was so extremely high this year, all views and comments are my own and I’m not saying they are correct.

TOPIC: HOW MANY TYPES OF ADVERTISING ARE THERE? PRESENT THE FEATURES AND EXAMPLES OF EACH TYPE. ANALYZE THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THEM.
Nowadays, almost companies can’t lack advertising to introduce their products or services to market. There are many types of advertising. Each type has different role and appropriateness. So, this essay will focus on three types in three paragraphs. Introducing about print advertising in the first paragraph; and then, introducing mass media advertising in the second paragraph; and finally, introducing outdoor advertising in the third paragraph.
Today, advertising products via print media is a common practice. The print media include all newspapers, newsletters, magazines, booklets, pamphlets, and other printed publications. The role of print advertising is to offers basic information about the company, their products or services to the selected audiences. Most print media are local. Magazines, on the other hand, have always been national, although there is a trend today toward localization and specialization. There are a huge amount newspapers and magazines are published everyday. But only some types tend to a particular group people. For examples, sporty newspapers are written for men, teenage magazines for teenagers, etc. Therefore, select the right type of newspapers or magazines is important decision of the company, which may reach larger selected audiences. According to a statistic, in Vietnam, at present, there are about 600 newspapers and magazines. Almost companies, which are operating in Vietnam, are advertising via print media; for examples, Vinamilk, FPT, Honda, etc.
Mass media advertising is popular most and impact in people’s awareness of the companies and their products. This type includes TV, radio and internet. Mass media advertising is more than simply persuasive messages. Through text and through images, the ad conveys values and beliefs, and these have meanings for those who read, listen or watch them. In this type, cost is the main obstacle for companies which want to advertise on TV. Moreover, just as print ad, mass media ad also has many channels tend to many different objects. Consequently, if the company advertises with reasonable duration and right channel, the company will not waste more money and their advertising still effective. Due to the great role of mass media in the life, nowadays, there are many companies use mass media for their main publicity. For instance, Unilever present their products as OMO and Comfort, P&G with Tide and Downy, etc.
Outdoor advertising, one of the oldest and most enduring forms of advertising, is advertising on signs that are located outdoors in public places. This form includes billboards, trade fairs, sporting evens, etc. Outdoor advertising captures the viewer's attention 24 hours a day. True, it has limited coverage. But a well-planned outdoor campaign can effectively cover most major markets. The main features of this type are brevity of the message and cannot target customer. So, the message usually is slogan of the company, such as Canon Corporation with the slogan is “Delighting you always” or Toyota with sentence “Moving forward”, etc.
In short, using which types and using on which time is important decision of the company. In my opinion, with carefully choosing, the company can get what they need from all the variable advertisements

As a Franchise owner of a popular Sub shop, being sued for "deceptive advertising for Large subs for the Brand?
i was informed that a Customer of mine has sued me in a Small Claims court in Northern VA for $5,000 in the reason section of the form, he has filled in " deceptive advertising for LARGE subs for (the name of the Brand). I called the court and talked to the clerk, I explained that as a franchise owner of a major sub shop, I don't advertise for the Brand, I have no part in making decision in any advertising campaign, The Corporate for the brand makes those decisions and make TV, Newspaper, Magazine, etc ads.
They just said you well you have to just come to the court on the court date and explain that to the judge. I asked can I write a letter to the judge so that he wouldn't waste his time on the court date, since this person is SUING the wrong person ( my LLC) instead of suing the Brand's Corporate?
Would do you think I should do? write the judge anyways and hopefully he will be informed in advance and see if he dismisses the case before the court date?
Or get my expensive lawyer involved and counter-sue for the lawyer fees and distress that this has costed me?By Large subs I am talking about the Size of subs. Am sure you know we have bunch of Large sized subs now on the Menu for $5 everyday.
Also I have received a bunch of emails that the Plaintiff & Corporate area manager have written to each other. They talked about how the meat size on the Large 5 dollar sub has decreased a bit to reflect the Price. The guy is mad that his Tuna sub which was $6.99 before has now a tiny bit less tuna on it and corporate advertises it now as Large subs for 5 bucks. He wrote in one email to the corporate area manager that they should say "Newly sized Large subs for $5"
again this all proves that he is mad at the corporate not my particular location! As a franchise I just have to follow the orders on specs directly from the corporate. And I can show the court that I have not cheated anyone on meat size either if he claims that my store gives smaller portion of tuna compared to other same brand stores in the area!I did btw contact the band, their legal department is saying to take to court my inspection reports that were done on my store that shows my store is in A shape, meaning my store passed all secret shopper inspections, all my routine corporate inspections and no direct complaints from other customers regarding such thing. They also provided me with the email that were sent between the corporate area manager and the customer talking about the change. So they are not providing me with a free lawyer but gave me tools to show that he should be suing the brand not me.
moreResolved Question: Which Adidas or Nike do you believe will dominate global soccer in the long term? Why?
Adidas's strategy
- Adidas has locked down sponsorship of the World Cup tournaments through 2014. In addition to a powerful advertising presence, this means that billions of television viewers—plus the millions of people attending the games in person—will only see Adidas signage in the stadiums and Adidas balls on the fields. The sponsorship package also allows Adidas to sell “official” World Cup products, such as the 15 million World Cup soccer balls that they expect to ship in 2006 alone.
- For the 2006 World Cup, Adidas also paid for additional rights to completely shut Nike out of all TV advertising for all 64 games broadcast in the English language in the United States.
- On the 2006 digital front, Adidas bought sole sponsorship rights in the footwear category on three hugely popular soccer Websites (plus, of course, their strong presence on the official World Cup Website).
- But Adidas’ most powerful weapon may be their soccer boots themselves. Building on growing worldwide demand for customization, Adidas introduced the +F-50 soccer shoe that users can configure every time they play in response to their playing conditions and style preferences. Early signs suggest that the shoes will be a huge hit.
Nike's strategy
- While Adidas has locked Nike out of World Cup sponsorship since 1994, Nike has always found creative ways to crash the gate. In 1994, for instance, Nike surreptitiously dropped about 150 free, branded caps at a major World Cup game in Orlando, Florida. The limited edition hats quickly generated more buzz than money could buy. At the 1998 event in France, Nike brought free soccer clinics to 50,000 French kids, and set up a high profile, interactive “Nikepark” in Paris. And after the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, Nike had such a strong underground presence, that more British consumers thought Nike was the official sponsor than thought Adidas was.
- But Nike’s edge seems sharpest in the digital realm. In late 2005, Nike released a digitally altered Internet-only ad called Ping Pong, featuring Brazilian soccer superstar Ronaldinho performing virtually impossible soccer feats. The compelling viral video was viewed 12 million times in its first seven months on the Web.
- Nike’s biggest digital coup may be its new social networking site, Joga.com. Built in partnership with Google and modeled after My Space, Joga.com is a “community that focuses on one topic and one passion: soccer.” The site is available in 140 countries in 14 languages. In just three months Joga.com garnered about 800,000 members from around the world, and Nike claims that it adds a new member every eight seconds. The site is just one dimension of Nike’s innovative “Joga Bonito” campaign, which means “Play Beautiful” in Portuguese and features legendary soccer players from a range of different countries.
moreResolved Question: Media Influencing Your Vote?
I recieved and answer from a last question, that brought me to a link, that went to the huffpost. Well, in the meantime, I also heard that Photobucket was taking down anti-Obama comments ( that suppossedly were not slanderish. I can't prove that. ). But, since I was trying to prove them wrong, I looked up who owned the site. What I found gave me an uneasiness. Not because of who owns quite a bit of Media, because he has different newpapers, TV Stations, radio shows, even a popular satellite company. It was because of the amount of control that he could have, or ANY owner of any media can have. But, I saw he was showing both sides of the Election, which was amazing at the difference in the materials that were provided between one station and another, so he made a balanced choice. He was not being biased himself. He showed the coverage from an Obama side one Channel, and the Mc Cain support on another. BUT, what bothered me is that, I was researching other stations, and even gave CNN and MSN a call, and asked the same question.
"Do you think you are restricted from what you can cover or not cover, and does the advertising of whom pays more, get the most attention?"
One said: "It's a shame, but yes they are restricted, and the media gets to hear only what they want you to hear."This came from the TV Station that followed Obama overseas, but also covered Mc Cain pretty evenly.
Two said: "Call Mc Cain's Campaign and tell him to pay for more ads." That came from the a TV Station that followed Obama across seas, but didn't cover Mc Cain as thoughly.
I see what was happening here, and started investigating more Stations and who owned them. Quite interesting, since after checking it out, I found that depending if the owners are Republican or Democrat, You will see only what they want You to see, and not all of the stories, or the whole story.
So, I saw some blogs and started looking if others were thinking about this Media overload steering towards one Candidate over another, because of the spending in advertsing, and such. I looked up Telecommunications Act of 1996. Apparently, there were some disagreements with it, "because the law has paved the way for the greatest period of corporate concentration in US media and communication history." So, it became about who has the most money, not about fair coverage, or whether the story is true or not. It's caused a lot of finger pointing, hasn't it? That Law began what it is today. So, what I'm thinking is, that if you are watching on TV and reading online for The Election reviews, it's always going to give You a one sided story no matter what. I read a few articles about this because the influence that Media has on the public, is out of control.
This was a pretty good overview to my point:
http://www.thinkandask.com/news/mediagiants.html
I cannot even produce a list of all the Individual owers, not including the bigger Corporates. I did a little 'soul searching', seeing who was influencing me. TV really has become ridiculous. There are good things and bad things about each Candidate, both it's unfair that there are so many biased opinions being shoved down Our throats, and Media is influential from the burger You buy at 9pm, knowing You don't need it, but the commercial made Your brain think You were hungry. I feel like that I was being feed Obama. I mean I can't say whom I would Vote for, because I can't believe anything that the Media says. But, based on Congressional records, State records, and City records, I see a whole different story being painted. I read blogs written by the People Who lived in Dallas, and Chicago. They seem to know more than the Media, especially when They start talking about Their Own Personal Experiences. After that, I started Googling some of the stuff They were saying, and I mean stuff I NEVER saw on my TV.
I found that Media had made me biased, and the actual People who were effected by these Senator's/Mayor's and the decisions that they made for Their State and City's, gave me a better idea of whom to Vote for. It's very sad that there is not enough unbiased Media.I'd rather listen to The People.
What do You think? Is Media biased in Your Opinion and what stations do You watch that You think is fair?
Thank You for Your answers.

moreResolved Question: Why do people still like diamonds? they are the most common rock in the world?
What most people don't know is that Diamonds are the most common rock in the world. The only reason they are popular and expensive is because the jewelry industry want you to think they are rare...got news they aren't, why do you think everyone has one? Don't buy into the jewelers mumbo jumbo, they are a common colorless rock.
If you are willing to fall for the advertising then make sure it is a certified Kim Diamond or some little kid died so you could have that rock. Blood diamonds are still on the market. These diamonds are mined using slave labor. There are militias in Africa that kidnap kids forcing them to kill their own families and then mine or fight for them to fund their militias. Diamonds ruin the lives of millions of kids everyday.
The movie Blood Diamond is a true story and I believe every American girl who dreams of a diamond engagement ring should have to watch it. However, diamonds are also important to the industry of many countries which would fail if you didn't have that dream so just be smart about it. If a store can not produce the Kim papers move on. That diamond is illegal and you don't want to look at your engagement ring and know it was the reason that a 5 year old girl was raped and murdered. Kim Diamonds are fine but Blood diamonds are bad.
For my part I will stick with Pearls and American Emeralds as a Unicef, Unifem, Unhcr, Red Cross supporter. I am for human rights not human greed and until the Blood Diamond trade is stopped I won't look their way.

So you are willing to cause the deaths of 1000s of kids because a rock is shiney...that is great. NO wonder Americans are some of the most hated people in the world. How can all of you who say that be so selfish? What if that war was here and it was us and our children living those lives? For all you young girls you wouldn't have fingers to put those shiney rocks on think of that. For those who are offended...if you already have a diamond keep it and relish it. It stands for something for you. I just can't understand the hype when I have seen the pain it causes to go out and buy new ones. Like I said in the details above diamonds are integral to some countries for their survival so buying a certified diamond is good it's when you get a diamond that isn't certified that is bad so just check. If we all requested a certified diamond then it would put the pressure on the industry to stop buying the blood diamonds and only legit ones.
To those who said I should have better things to do, try caring about others for a change.Because diamonds are the best can i ask you an question why did you write all of that up when only half of the people who answered didn't even read what you wrote! (And by the way i'm not being mean just asking)

because if at least one person read it then that is maybe one person who will make a difference in the life of a child.I realize Americans aren't the only ones who buy diamonds but this is where I live and we are the biggest diamond market in the world and so we have the best chance of securing a good legal industry. If we the consumer push the industry to adopt a harsher certification process to stop conflict diamonds then that will put a major dent in the sale of them hurting the militias who do this.
For those who think this is opinion go to the sources I posted and read those.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond
One of the most common rocks in the world....is that better.
I agree as far as industry goes...but they are legal diamonds typically mined in Russia.

ENERGY IN A CAN
“Improve your concentration! Feel more energetic Perfonn better!" promise the advertisements for many of the popular enegy drinks. But do these beverages really live up to these promises? Well, they seem to, at least temporariIy. These drinks are basically a mixture of caffeine an sugar. Caffeine is a míld stimulant that can create alertness and energy levels. Altbough amounts differ among manufacturersc energy' drinks generally contain about fue same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. As a comparison cola has about half the amount. Most energy drinks also have quite a large clase of sugar, which is another source of quick energy. In addition some of the drinks also contain some vitamins, and extracts from plants that are believed to have some health benefits.
So with little new to offer, how have fuese beverages become the favourite drinks for millions of young people, whether before exams or while out partying? The answer is probably because of the young vigous image promoted in advertising campaigns directed mainly at people under thirty. This image is further emphasised through youth-oriented sports and music events sponsored by some of the major manufacturers, by which they link their names to achievement and enjoyment. And finally, there's fue trendy packaging, which is often colourful and in some cases resembles beer cans.
There are a few things that energy-drink fans should keep in mmd. First, do not mix the drinks with alcohol. According to some recent research, the combination could cause heart problems. And, if you drink them before or during physÍcal activity, such as running or dancing, be sure also to drink a lot of water, as high amounts of caffeine cause the body to lose more fluid than normal. Finally, remember that energy drinks provide only a temporaly increase in energy. If you're aiming for long-lasting high energy levels and increased concentration, a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and enough sleep are more etfective than energy in a can.

im doing a marketing report for school on improving a local company's advertising campaign... the company sells cholesterol pills and we (my partner and i) are planning on implementing television as one form of medium. we need some insight on popular quarters to advertise? stations? time of the day? and frequency of advertising?it is just a local medical company that developed this cholesterol pill, and we are targeting the adults in the local community...the pills are affordable, and we think everyone can benefit from them
** this is a research project for a high school competition, and it would be excellent if we could credit where we got our information from..so please email me if you would like to just provide some general information (name and position)
** also, in reference to when we want to advertise... we are thinking about advertising more during quarter 1(jan- mar) and quarter 2 (apri-jun) because thats when ppl start making new yr resolutions and its right before the summer season... we said least during quarter 4 (oct-dec) bc ppl are genrally more concerned with holidays than with health..

moreResolved Question: Isn't it true that text messaging is only popular because the providers first pushed it in children?
I think that companies like Cingular creatively promoted "kiddie" phones that could text only. made them popular for children, and now have created a market for text messaging which is driven by chidren through an advertising campaign designed to get chidren to aggravate their parents into succumbing to the request for a device and service.I mean pushed ON children.

Day 34
Today seemed to go very well with huge interest in our search for Madeleine. There has also been a little bit of criticism in the German press about the amount of media coverage but this did not seem to diminish the level of interest. The German interviewers are a little more direct with their questions but I was still surprised by the question as to whether Kate and I may be involved in Madeleine?s abduction! Hopefully our answers removed any doubt on that score and that our sole focus in all of the family campaigning is to get Madeleine back.
After the media we met with a couple of politicians in private. Firstly, we saw the deputy justice minister for Germany who gave us reassurances regarding the investigation. Following this we met the Mayor of Berlin who is a very powerful and charismatic politician. He asked us what he could do for us and following this meeting asked German tourists who were in the Algarve around the time of Madeleine?s abduction to come forward. He is very popular and such public backing should help our appeal.
We had to delay our onward flight to Amsterdam because of some information received by the police, which we needed to be consulted on. We diverted to the embassy in Berlin but it turned out to be nothing of interest. We unfortunately had to miss 2 TV programmes as we arrived in Amsterdam 3 hours late, very tired and emotionally drained. We did manage to catch up with a few friends briefly who we know from the year we lived in Amsterdam. They have been actively campaigning here on our behalf with poster distribution, contacting media and liasing with companies to get advertising space for large posters of Madeleine.claire s, sorry but I do know what Id do in this situation....the total opposite to what these people are doing, thats for sure! And Id treat a potential phone call about my missing 4 year old as more important than missing 2 tv interviews, hoax or not. I wouldnt take the gamble.
But then, I wouldnt have gambled with my childs safety in the first place. Fair enough though, the McCanns like a gamble obviously...they gambled with the lives of 3 children under 4, so a gamble on a potential lead to find their missing daughter isnt such a big deal I guess.mshighwater, Im not a nasty person either. I was very sympathetic to them in the beginning, I donate money I could barely afford, I cried for them, along with many others, I prayed for them (and Im not religeous) and I got upset seeing their pain. AT THE BEGINNING.
My change towards them isnt because I dont care, but because I do care. They are their own worst enemies, they either have crap PR advice or they want to do it "their way", because obviously, they arnt endearing themselves to the public, they arnt helping themselves, and they certainly arnt helping Madeliene, they are 2 of the most frozen people Ive ever seen, and without even knowing them I can see just how self-centered they are. Anyone who cant see that is blind. They are not normal by any stretch of the imagination, if their hearts were as big as their ego,s then they would still be a Family of 5.
Im amazed at how some of you can STILL sympathise with them, so No, I wont stop thanks.
moreResolved Question: political candidates and popular actor friends?
Political candidates should not be allowed to use popular actors in their advertising campaigns. Candidates too often win elections because they have actors for friends rather than because they are honestly qualified to represent the public interest.

moreResolved Question: Was there a US Court case dealing with white versus pink tuna? What advertising is proper in the US?
I seem to recall a story where, in the early 1900s, most tuna that fishermen caught had pink meat. For whatever reason, Albacore, a white meat tuna, was not very popular. According to this story, Ablacore tuna began selling with an advertising campaign that suggested its white meat was pure, while implying that pink meat tuna included artificial preservatives. This story then discusses a US Supreme Court case that decided whether this advertising technique was appropriate.
Is this story true, or is it an urban legend? If there was such a Supreme Court case, do you know what the case was called, or how I can find it? And if this story is true, then would the Albacore advertising tactics be appropriate under US law?
Thank you for any insight you may have.

Chinese Hide Dogs to Escape Crackdown
By AUDRA ANG, AP
BEIJING (Nov. 16) - Elaine Loke is shutting down her dog boutique and will spirit her golden retrievers Hippy and Bally out of Beijing to escape the city's sweeping anti-rabies campaign.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Talk About It: Post Thoughts
Dog owners like Loke have been scrambling to hide their pets in the face of a new crackdown which allows only one dog per household and bans breeds taller than 14 inches. Fears have been fueled by graphic Internet pictures and witnesses who say police are beating to death strays and dogs that run afoul of regulations.
"I can't believe this is happening," said Loke, 33, who keeps the curtains in her first-floor apartment drawn to ward off prying neighbors and walks her dogs in an underground parking lot. "It's so stressful. In the morning, I hear dogs barking and people talking outside my home and I think the police are coming."
The pressure is so bad that Loke is returning to her native Hong Kong and closing a business she has had for two years.
In China, dogs have long been seen as a source of meat as much as companionship. But the current crackdown has touched a nerve in the rapidly modernizing capital, especially among its burgeoning middle class.
"What kind of rules are these? I don't expect everybody to love animals. But I do want to have my rights to keep pets," said Clare Xiao, an account manager at an advertising company. She sent her larger Brittany to a kennel run by a friend and kept her Pekinese, a stray she found on the street.
"What the government is doing is just disappointing, cold and emotionless," said Xiao.
Many of the prohibitions have been on the books since 2003, but only sporadically enforced. The city of 13 million people has 1 million dogs, half of them unregistered, according to state media.

A sharp increase in rabies cases nationwide has prompted the renewed vigilance. Only 3 percent of China's dogs are vaccinated against rabies and the disease is nearly always fatal in humans once symptoms develop, though it can be warded off by a series of expensive and painful injections.
Officials have extended the 2003 rules to cover not only Beijing's center but some outlying areas. The clampdown, announced Nov. 6, gave owners until Thursday to comply or the dogs would be seized and the owners fined.
One owner Zhu Qiao has moved three times since 2001 to find areas where her black-and-white dog, Gou Gou, could be raised safely and within the law.
"He's part of my life, he's my friend and family," said Zhu, 30, a television producer. "If you want to impose a law, you have to get the opinion of dog owners and experts. You can't just take them away."
"I can't move again. There's no option but to hide him and if he gets taken, I'll go with him."
Another owner had his Labrador retriever taken away Wednesday because she was too big.
"She is a very amicable dog. She never barked," said the owner, a businessman who would give only his surname Yang. "If they don't allow me to raise her here, I will find another place. I will get her back."
Witness accounts and photos on the Internet have shown dogs being captured in nets and pummeled with wooden and metal sticks. But authorities have vowed to carry out a "strict but civilized" campaign that police hoped would not anger dog owners, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
"I have never heard of dogs being culled after they were caught by police. Dogs are a man's best friend and we treat them as friends, even when we have to lock them up for the sake of public security," Xinhua quoted a Ministry of Public Security official, Bao Suixian, as saying.
Many owners have sent their dogs to kennels outside the city. Some are handing them over to friends and family.
Joyce Wang gave one of her dogs to her sister and is keeping Ding Ding, her fox terrier, close by her side. She said she had heard that the government was offering $25 to people who reported on rule-breaking dog owners.
"I'm scared and worried. Now I don't take him outside during the day," Wang said. "Even in the evening, we will take a detour if we see people in the compound we live in."

An Important Battle is Won in the War on Christmas
Wal-Mart Will Stop Censorship of Ads and Greetings
Orlando, FL - Wal-Mart has finally admitted that censoring Christmas is not a good idea. After experiencing a backlash last Christmas season from unhappy customers and facing frustrated employees, some of whom turned to Liberty Counsel for help, Wal-Mart retreated from its use of "Happy Holidays" and will let employees greet shoppers with "Merry Christmas."
"We, quite frankly, have learned a lesson from last year," said spokeswoman Linda Blakely of Wal-Mart in an interview with USA Today news. Blakely claims Wal-Mart will say "Merry Christmas" early and often. Wal-Mart will be playing Christmas carols now through the end of the year.
The world's largest retailer told its associates at a recent conference that it will bring back the Christmas pitch in an attempt to be the leader in this year's sales. Wal-Mart's advertising will announce "Christmas" and its decorations department will change from "The Holiday Shop" to "The Christmas Shop."
Liberty Counsel, a nationwide, public interest civil liberties law firm, launched its fourth annual "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign" this year and is already receiving many consumer complaints about stores refusing to recognize the Christmas holiday. On its web site, www.LC.org, Liberty Counsel offers a Help Save Christmas™ action pack, which includes educational legal memoranda to educate government officials, teachers, parents, students, private businesses, employees and others that it is legal to celebrate Christmas. The action pack also includes a very popular "I LOVE CHRISTmas™" button.
Anita Staver, President of Liberty Counsel, commented: "We are glad that Wal-Mart stopped censoring Christmas. Wal-Mart should have realized it cannot censor Christmas and would have avoided the wrath of the public. To those that claim there is no war against Christmas in America, Wal-Mart is 'Exhibit A' in our 'Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign'. We are having a tremendous response when we ask the public to report a 'grinch' in their community. Wal-Mart has been removed from our 'grinch' list."
Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, noted: "Last year our 'Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign' ignited a movement to restore Christmas. Retailers that attempt to profit from Christmas while pretending it does not exist will no longer be patronized. The tsunami of voices fed up with the secularization of Christmas was heard loud and clear, from city hall to the world's largest retailer. I am pleased that Wal-Mart will recognize Christmas this year. Now that the number one retailer has abandoned its generic 'Happy Holidays' greeting in favor of 'Merry Christmas,' other retailers no longer have an excuse to run from Christmas."

moreResolved Question: Is there such a thing as "junk protein" ?
A current ad campaign for a popular dietary product right now is advertising that their product doesn't contain any "junk protein" like gelatin or collagen. WHAT? What the crap is "junk protein"?
I thought proteins were just chains of amino acids, and if you break them down into the base amino acids, it doesn't matter what the original protein was. Amino acids are amino acids, and your body can synthesize them into whatever other proteins your body needs. It doesn't matter where they come from.
Is it perhaps that this marketing campaign is just some "junk marketing"?
