Open Question: Republicans, if you ever took complete power of government(100% executive, legislative, judicial branch)?

Would you think it to be fair to give us minorities, and liberals a chance to leave. Or would just kill us off on the spot, and experiment on us. Political scientist Dr. Lawrence Britt recently wrote an article about fascism ("Fascism Anyone?," Free Inquiry, Spring 2003, page 20). Studying the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile), Dr. Britt found they all had 14 elements in common. He calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The excerpt is in accordance with the magazine's policy. The 14 characteristics are: 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy. 6. Controlled Mass Media Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed . 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. Copyright © 2003 Free Inquiry magazine more

Resolved Question: What should be my company name?

So...not exactly a company I guess. But i'm creating a website that will be used to create change among todays people. I am constantly traveling the world and want a place to document all my information, stories, photographs and people that I have met while on the road. It will have everything from traveling tips to volunteer programs to help people in need. But the only thing I'm having problems with is...the name. I was thinking like loveforchange.com but stuff that long is a bit annoying. I want something short. One word, but it doesnt have to grasp the meaning of it. It can be in another language and then I will have a slogan or motto which grasps the meaning and people can see once they go to the site. Any ideas!? Resolved Question: what is it with republicans and stupid nicknames?

dumbocrats, 0bama, libs, BO, it just gets old. it's like they're addicted to slogans and buzzwords; everyone has to have one. actually, it's just the same mindless repetition of mottos that they like to use in actual politics, which is kind of depressing. especially since one of their favorite phrases is "liberals are sheep." i can see the responses now... "yeah, well, you're just a [childish nickname for democrat]" REPUBLICANS YOU KNOW THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO SAY.looks like i hurt some peoples' feelings. of course liberals also take part in name calling. but it's an absolute fact that conservatives do it much more. end of story.oh no no no, i'm not implying that we didn't go overboard with bush, it's just that ... sorry, there are probably twice as many obama nicknames already, and they're repeated a lot more.looks like i hurt some peoples' feelings. of course liberals also take part in name calling. but it's an absolute fact that conservatives do it much more. end of story.sorry about the repeat. ironically, the other stereotype you poor people have to fight is that you're always angry.i will challenge any of you to a contest: republicans, name an insult democrats throw at you. you can consult with friends if you want. i'll do the same for democrats. no desperate repeats and no making sh!t up. use a source! it will be clear that republicans do it much more, and any further discussion is pointless. more

Resolved Question: Help thinking of a motto/slogan for this bible passage?

I need a Slogan for my Religion assignment based off the story of the good Samaritan. It has to be about what the contextual message Jesus was trying to get through to us was. This is the passage: Luke 10:25-37 (New International Version) The Parable of the Good Samaritan 25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" 26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" 27He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'[a]; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b]" 28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." 29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" 30In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two silver coins[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' 36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" 37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." And for those people who say, "do your own homework!", the thing is I did. My partner, however, is being stubborn and thinks we need a and I quote "super awesome slogan." Please help I can't think of jack squat. more

There's an old slogan/saying/motto for SOMETHING.. and there's a little girl and she says "Put a little ..____.. in it!" I can't figure out what it is, I've asked everyone I know and even the people that it's familiar to can't figure it out. It's been bugging me since last night. And it's not the old joke about how to make a hankie dance because that's "blow a little boogie in it" and that's not what I'm talking about. It's not put a little umph in it. That's not a little girl and it's not nearly old enough. It's two syllables. "put a little love in it" was the closest we got last night, but it's two syllables.. more
