some advise on following issue wanted! Can a friend of mine wear some of accessories which my company produces during the Olympic game in London 2012? 1) we are producing and selling the products, 2) we would like her to advertise our company, 3) she is going to wear our products during the games, 4) we are going to sell those on our official internet site during the games. 5) And we would very much to like use her picture in the Olympic game and the slogan “the earrings which Jennifer wears in Olympic 2012”. Our budget is far low than what official contract with IOC demands. Olympic game is the best opportunity for a promotion though. So if there’s no problem, we would like to execute our project as soon as possible. I would appreciate if you could give us some advise on the subject. ThanxEdit: okay, so she can wear whatever she wants as long as she does not appeal it during the game (I mean during the whole olympic month)? so, what about us? can we advertise ourselves using her name and picture? moreResolved Question: What are some ideas for a fake product?
I have to make an ad for an imaginary product. The name has to include a poetic device (rhyme, alliteration, allusion, etc.). I have to do a speech on comparing reusable products (Bottles, bags etc) to disposable bottles, plastic bags and other things. Here is what I was able to come up with: Australia is one of the world’s best sources for tap water in the world, however, despite this; we rely on bottled water companies to keep us hydrated. The following are useful facts on this environmental issue: •Australian’s spend over half a billion dollars on bottled water per year. •Bottled water and pre bottled beverages, such as Gatorade, are made out of PETE (Polyethylene teraphthalate) plastic, which takes over 700 years to begin to biodegrade, and thousands of years before it is completely gone, and this plastic has been around for little over 70 years, so no bottles have ever degenerated. •Producing and delivering a litre of bottled water can produce hundreds of times more greenhouse gases than a liter of tap water, and it is thousands of times more expensive. •Australia recycles only 36% of PETE plastic drink bottles. This number is 15% in the US. •In a single 24 hour period 30 million disposable bottles are placed in the dump in the US alone. Luckily, this means that just 10% of America’s population consumes a disposable bottle each day. This is not unrealistic, as this would equate to roughly 2 million people in Australia, buying and disposing of fully recyclable bottles. •Over 50 million liters of oil is used to make bottled water each year. •The quality of tap water is greater than that of bottled water. •PETE bottles should not be reused over long periods of time. Dangerous chemicals may leech into the water, affecting you health. These few short facts prove the hazard that the environment takes from just one unneeded luxury. Only now, are we beginning to understand its futility. Each year, the amount of bottled water consumed increases by 10%. For how long can this go on for? Are we really going to continue to produce such a hazard for our own benefit? This being analyzed, it seems almost pointless to continue ‘urging’ consumers to recycle their bottles after their short lived lives. It just is not happening. The three strikes and ‘you’re out!’ rule should be more like ‘one million strikes, and you’re out’. However, the cost of recycling these bottles it very high, and so is the oil it requires. So, now that many countries and states around the world are placing a ban on the production of bottles water, what do you have to store your water in? The answer is to, as I thought was I great slogan I saw; to ‘Smash the Trash’ and to go reusable. That’s right, reusable bottles and healthier, more durable, eco friendly and makes the water taste better than the regular PETE bottles. So do what I decided to do and ‘go green’, you’ll save yourself, and the environment. And after the very long lives of these bottles, they can just be recycled. Plastic bags are another major issue for the environment. So far this year, over 400 billion plastic bags have been used by consumers around the globe. These numbers are staggering, and the very fact that these bags are not durable and difficult to recycle, they end up in landfills, harming the environment and water life. Although these CAN be recycled, only 0.6 of these are placed in the recycling bin. One alternative is the infamous eco bags which I am sure many of you know of. These are durable, reusable and biodegradable bags made of recycled HDPE, Polypropylene or PETE. You can find these at Coles or other supermarkets. These few short rules apply to all disposable products, even cameras. And in the long run, you will save yourself a lot of money from making the right decisions. To conclude this I will assure you that because of actions chosen by us people, disposable products have become a bio hazard. And something must be done to stop this from contributing to global warming and other issues. (Talk about energy drinks) moreResolved Question: Ready for a new kind of game?

Monday, August 24, 2009 Boycotting the Boycotters (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong) Rick Watts, 49, protests outside a Whole Foods store in West Hollywood, Calif., Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009. The protest took place after John Mackey, the CEO of Whole Foods Market, wrote an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal about health care reform. John Mackey - the founder, CEO and marketing genius behind Whole Foods - finds himself in an organic, unsustainable mess with his carefully cultivated affluent, liberal customer base after penning an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal titled, "The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare." For starters, Mr. Mackey opens with a line from known-liberal-allergen Margaret Thatcher that features the dreaded "S" word: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." Then he goes on to provide eight sensible free-market solutions gleaned from his company's well-regarded employee health care program. Mr. Mackey, a free-market libertarian, is now at the mercy of an unforgiving grass-roots mob intent on destroying his company. More than 25,000 people have signed on to a Whole Foods boycott on Facebook. "Whole Foods has built its brand with the dollars of deceived progressives," the online petition reads. "Let them know your money will no longer go to support Whole Foods' anti-union, anti-health insurance reform, right-wing activities." A complementary Web site, WholeBoycott.com, features unintentionally comical video testimonials from aggrieved former customers. The mainstream media have picked up on the story and fanned the flames. The success of Whole Foods is largely built on Mr. Mackey's understanding of the liberal mind. It wants the good life - but with instant absolution for the sin of conspicuous consumption. Whole Foods is marketing at its best. Iconography and slogans throughout the store - not unlike those Barack Obama used to win the presidency - tell the shopper they are saving the planet in large and small ways. The product is so good even conservatives and skeptics are willing to play along. But Mr. Mackey missed the key ingredient of modern liberalism: intolerance to the ideas of nonliberals. And this miscalculation may prove to be devastating to his multibillion-dollar business. Everywhere one looks these days, the intolerance of self-avowed liberals is on display. Especially since Mr. Obama came to power. The purportedly open-minded and empathic among us who now run everything - save for NASCAR and Nashville - openly wage war against those who dare disagree. Witness Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi's joint-penned editorial in USA Today in which the House's two top Democrats describe those publicly questioning Mr. Obama's proposed health care system overhaul as "un-American." One need not go back too far in the political time machine to recall a time when the same people were claiming that the term "un-American" was being tossed at liberals for opposing the Iraq war, and that Republicans were stifling free speech. Examples were rarely, if ever, given. It just was. And we were told this was a very, very bad thing. The Dixie Chicks brilliantly used this sob line to become a Rolling Stone magazine cover staple, a blue-state crossover and an international cause celebre. A chorus line of would-be liberal celebrity martyrs took a similar marketing tack proclaiming McCarthyism was again afoot - as conservative Hollywood kept its collective mouth shut knowing that support for President Bush or the war was an instant career-killer. Yet amid the cries of "dissent is patriotic" - a phrase seen on the bumper stickers of cars in the Whole Foods parking lot - the antiwar movement grew and grew, unfettered by the war's supporters or by the party in power. As the Hollywood Left churned out antiwar film screeds, it was creating a narrative of its victimhood as it victimized Mr. Bush and his administration with the false accusation that dissenters were being persecuted. But now that they are in power, Democrats are brazenly wielding punitive weaponry against dissenting Americans and are using the power of the state to shut up citizens. The Democratic leadership - and its friends in the mainstream media - seem determined to brand opposition to the president's legislative agenda as illegitimate, even racist in origin. Individuals and grass-roots organizations are helping the statists' cause by advocating boycotts and other means of stifling dissent. The strategy is clear: Intimidate people from speaking up or from attending public protests by telegraphing that anyone can be made a demon for standing up and exercising basic, constitutional rights. To call these people hypocrites would be a grave insult to those who fail to live up to their own standards. Liberalism has never been ab moreResolved Question: can someone read and fix my grammar?? The big smudge of the lipgloss attracts you which make you look at the black and white picture, saying that it doesn’t look ugly but something different and unique. It has been shown that this particular lipgloss advertisement has a brand called Rimmel London. This has been shown by examining the following aspects: the subject matter, target audience; logo/slogan; layout; and use of colour and image. So Im having problems at work (I work in the apartment industry....high end apt complexes doing service/maintenance work). I keep getting reprimanded for having attitude problems. My bosses are telling me that I come off as extremely rude, towards both customers and co-workers, and that at company events with corporate people involved I am embarrassing our team. I dont think Im doing anything that horrible... I just dont always talk or respond to everyone the way company guidelines dictate and everyone takes offense it seems... and its mostly cause they are trying to force me to act the way they think i should. When they dont I am usually very friendly and capable. Its just personally I dont agree or want to conform to their guidelines.... I feel like theyre trying to make me a soulless car salesman. I dont belive in the product, at least not in the way they are trying to market it. They make us attend these customer service classes every so often and at the last one they gave us all this garbage about molding their image the way companies like McDonalds did..... with slogans and service with a smile and whatnot.... but the things is, Im of the opinion that companies such as mcdonalds are basically the devil. The pretend to care so that they can make money. Thats what it feels my company is trying to tell me to do.... and I wont compromise my personal standards for a paycheck. Now obviously Im not happy doing this work, if I did this wouldnt be an issue. If there is any one thing that I love its music. Im an amateur musician and though it would be awesome if I could ever perform for a paycheck its not an easy career to attain. But really if I could do pretty much ANYTHING in music I would be happy. Even sweeping floors at the capitol records building in hollywood (i live in southern california). I also have a fascination with the business side of the music industry so ive been looking into attending Musicians Institute in hollywood and getting a music business degree. But the problem is that my present job pays decent (about 40-45k a year) and if I went for something else...say a job at guitar center... i would likely be making half that at best. Fortunately I have no kids or significant other that I need to support so it may be feasible. So my questions are these: Is it worth it to drop everything and attempt to shift to a career in an extremely tough business just because of my ideals? Or am I just complaining too much like all the suits at work are telling me? Is there anyone out there whos been in a similar situation regardless of the career fields? Anyone in the music industry who could point me in the right direction (im up for anything in music but am most interested in performing, managing/producing, or engineering fields....possibly writing but i dont really wanna give up my original material)? Are there any better schools out there for music business than MI (preferably in socal but ill consider other states)? Any input appreciated... thanks to those who actually read all this :). moreVoting Question: Funny cheap alcohol slogans?

In a few weeks I will 19 years old. I do not have a future, or one that can be exciting or at least worthwhile to live. I dont want to live in this consumerist society. I do not want to live in a society bombarded with slogans and advertisements creating new "needs", while the rest of the world is starving. I do not want to live in a society alienating, dividing and destroying us. Perhaps I'll be happy if I live the "American dream". You know, I'll have a nice job with lots of money, a nice house, a lovely spouse, and my 2.5 children. And then I'll consume, consume, consume because that's what we do in this capitalist society. In any given example, I'll highlight the best possible scenario. But it's all meaningless because even a million dollars isn't great. So we're supposed to go to school so that we can get a job conforming with society and making money to buy other crap. That's the reality of our life. At least in primitive societies, there was a purpose, and that was ensuring one's own survival. Now there is a greater division of labour, and we work jobs, making only a small part of the product, or providing a small part of the service of a corporation or some other institution. As our primary goal is profit, there is no solidarity within the human race. There is only solidarity with each respective group. Dont tell me that life is worth living so you can "hang out with friends" and talk stupid crap. Dont tell me that life is worth living so you can "learn and explore". Dont tell me that life is worth living so you can see new babies being born into this corrupt world, and further teach them the ways of a selfish, inhumane, consumerist society. They will soon be sucked into the advertisements and demanding everything they see because apparently having things is happiness. It's all so meangingless. Every little bit of it. moreResolved Question: My wife and I are bedazzling black binder clips and selling them as pony tail holders.Got a good product name?

As human society continues to ascend further into the information age, there can be no more accurate statement than the popular maxim ‘knowledge is power’. In twenty-first century society, necessary and sought after information is often, if not always, available at the touch of a button. Civilization has shifted from times where knowledge, information, and communication with the external world had to be fully pursued and looked for in what the average modern man would consider unconventional and time consuming procedures and methods. Due to the fact that information was not easily obtainable, knowledge and general information was usually held by the ruling class and those people who were categorized as having higher socio-economic standing. The modern era however has been characterized by a massive explosion of easily accessible information and data in convenient places and institutions such as libraries, educational institutions, and eventually to the common home via electronically transmitted and networked data. This shift from institutionalized to household access has further evolved to hand held, portable mobile access for the average person. One of these common devices is none other than the Blackberry smart phone. The blackberry is a modern day mobile telephone intertwined with all the features of a house hold computer. The functions of a Blackberry smart phone range from voice communication, electronic mail, word processing and popular document viewing, to global positioning system and even geographical data provider. Furthermore, it also includes instant messaging, multimedia playback, and photographic functionality. It is a rather small, light weight apparatus which fits comfortably into any jacket or pocket for maximum portability. Due to its multifunctional capabilities, the Blackberry smart phone has now become a social norm, a cultural object, and one of the most desired material and technological objects of our time. Just by taking a cursory glance at the Blackberry’s official slogan “Connect to everything you love in life,” it is easy to see how it appeals to almost anybody by implying that an individual will be able to obtain information on anything of importance or interest to them. The Blackberry smart phone is sold through almost every major telecommunication company in Canada, and around the globe. Over the past few years, many of these companies have made this once extremely expensive commodity a now relatively financeable product. There are a vast amount of different types of people and corporations that benefit from the Blackberry smart phone. Of course there is the obvious set of people who profit from the technological advances of the Blackberry smart phone such as the company itself, the consumer, and the major network provider that sells this product. In addition, there is a rather significant external group who benefits from these phones such as marketing firms, and associative corporations. It is also worth mentioning the increase or boost in e-commerce that the Blackberry provides whether it is personal, or business related. As the Blackberry smart phone becomes a social norm and standard in our society and the telecommunication market, anything below or inferior to the Blackberry’s capabilities and services is considered sub-par and incompetent. Therefore, those lacking a Blackberry are considered to be at a disadvantage both functionally and socially as it solidifies its position as a culture icon and trend. A key aspect of understanding the Blackberry’s design can be best described through the notion of simplicity. Marketers strive to make the Blackberry, such a technologically advanced and highly intricate piece of machinery, as simplistic as possible so that it will appeal to a larger target audience. In this way, the Blackberry is not only limited or restricted to members of society which can be classified or labelled as being “technologically savvy.” Several main design features for maintaining simplicity and ease of use can be found in the form of scroll wheels, touch screens, and context menus for already divided and stratified aspects of the menu. The Blackberry has affected me personally by instilling a feeling of inadequacy as compared to my peers and the general populace who continues to indulge and consume more and more into the smart phone market. As a student, I am personally unable to have the funds for a Blackberry data plan which allows me to access and utilize it to its full capabilities and potential beyond simple voice communication which any other less expensive cellular device can provide. Within the general context of modern social life, the Blackberry simply and effectively allows for much deeper and intricate levels of networking and communication amongst the general populace. Communicational time barriers are virtually removed as the Blackberry allows for more real-time communication and data exchang moreResolved Question: What do you believe the ideology of the 1980's was?
Here is what my instructor said about the 1980's I am writing a paper and need a little more insight about the ideology, (I did grow up in the 80s but I was in a small town not exposed to any of the mentality that my proffessor has stated.) "To fully understand American Psycho, one has to appreciate the social, political and economic climate in which the events of the story unfold. The setting is the 1980s – a decade marked by social conservatism that was perhaps best typified by the anti-drug slogan “Just Say No!” Politicians preached marriage and traditional family values, not to mention the purchasing value of a dollar. In fact, the mighty dollar and the competitive business practices of Wall Street were widely celebrated. “Greed is good!” became a popular saying even if junk bonds, insider trading and other Wall Street crimes left people penniless. Designer labels became popular. Wearing the right brands and owning the best products were keys to conformity and “fitting in.” Amidst all of this, Patrick Bateman struggles to survive." moreResolved Question: Product Slogan Help! First of all, I'm the copywriter, but don't let that hold you back on the criticism. Anyway, to the problem. A new range of shampoos. Lots of natural ingredients. Lots of different products. Lots of different benefits. And we need a slogan to cover the range before going into the specifics. That's the brief. I'd considered a few options, and each has a problem. 1) "10 natural ingredients to enhance the beauty of your hair" (I think "enhance" is too clinical and business-like. Opinions?) 2) "10 natural ingredients to increase the beauty of your hair" (Same problem as “enhance”) 3) "10 natural ingredients to add to the beauty of your hair" (Slightly better, if only because if “add” isn’t very exciting, at least it isn’t clinical) 4) "10 natural ingredients to make your hair more beautiful" (Too simple?) 5) “10 natural ingredients to bring out all the beauty in your hair” (I like this one, but is it too much?) Voilà. There is my problem. Feel free to say they’re all bad. But you have to propose a better one instead.
