Open Question: how do i become part of a team that creates slogans and logos for companies?
i want to take up advertising as my occupation but in the creative department not in the sales department. i know that there are teams in which the client supplies an ultimatum and the team creates a slogan or logo that hopefully exceeds their expectations. first of all what schools in california would be best to achieve this and also what degree would i have to earn? any information is extremely helpful! moreOpen Question: California Real Estate Agent requirements?
Hello,.... I am seriously considering becoming a real estate agent. I have wanted to be a realtor and own a real estate investment company since I was 12. But I have a couple of basic questions I would love to have an answer too. You have to be 18 to get your license right? But can I start studying for it before then? (I am 17, 18 in March) How long does it take? Is it like a year long process or a couple months, weeks, what? Where is a good online place to take these courses? The BIG question is that I live in Iowa right now, but I really want to be in California doing real estate (and don't say "oh, you really should do it in Iowa, a place where you're familiar" because I will never stay in Iowa. haha) I know its hard to build a customer base but I don't have any other option. So back to the question at hand, can I live in Iowa and get my license and then move to California a little later on? (for example, get the license in the Spring and move late Summer early fall) or do I have to live in Cali for this whole process? Do you have any suggestions on what I should take for college courses? Right now for the fall semester I am taking Selling, Principals of Advertising, Principals or Marketing, and Digital Photography. I was just taking classes that I thought I would enjoy and that may be beneficial. Any other info you have please feel welcome to share! I know the market is not the best but LA is really where I want to be and Real Estate is what I love so I figured I should go for it, I really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Thanks moreVoting Question: what is the best college degree to have if you plan to go in to the creative department of advertising?
i am planning to go into the creative department of advertising like working on a team to create slogans and logos for companies. is it better for me to earn a bachelors degree or a masters degree? thanx in advance :) moreVoting Question: Do you think cynicism is a sensible and correct worldview? If it's not, how can I stop being so cynical?
I was raised by fundie Christian parents who taught me that everyone is a sinner & rotten to the core and that no-one has any good in them...I kind of rejected Christianity a while ago but obviously what I was brought up on has been ingrained into me. Also I've been lied to a lot in my life and have experienced my fair share of backstabbing...all of which has led me to believe that people only do things for selfish reasons...money, personal gratification, ego, etc. I find it really hard now to trust anyone or that anyone is ever genuinely nice to me when they seem it. If I buy something, I'll assume that the things advertised about it aren't actually true because the company only care about the money and not providing quality to customers...I used to be really into music & movies but now I worry that the artists might not actually care about the art at all and that it's all about the money for them...also most worrying for me I've never been in love & never found a woman who loves me for who I am...she always lies to me and breaks my heart in the end...I want to think the best about people but I also don't want to be a sucker...is it right for me to be cynical and if not, how can I become less so? moreVoting Question: What are some of the best large companies to sponsor/fund small companies in return for advertising space?

Hello! I'm taking CPE2 classes and I've always had problems with compositions... I am trying to improve it, and that's why I'm asking for help. I must use a more appropriate and elaborated vocabulary. As I love british English I thought it would be better to ask you =D The proposal is: You have seen a commercial on your local TV station which appeard during a children's programme. You feel that an advertisement of this type is not suitable for showing on children's TV. Write a letter of complaint to the television company, explaing why you object to it and what you would like them to do about it. It must have 300-350 words. This is my rough draft: Dear Sir, I am writing to complain about the clothes advertisement currently being displayed on the children's TV channel, between one and other cartoon. The advertisement shows a girl, actually a young teenager wearing inappropriate clothes, with a high level of sexual insinuation. I feel that this claim is really irresponsible. For a start, this kind of clothing is unacceptable for a teenager. The advertisers also seem to have forgotten that it is been displayed on a children's TV channel. In my view, this type of advertising only encourages children to act like adults. Furthermore, the advert suggests that in order to be popular girls have to act in a unscrupulous way. I would argue that this can only encourage those children to maintain a kind of a sensual image. The kind of behaviour that you are encouraging is totally destructive, children might lose the best part of their childhood trying to be someone that there are not. Don't you think children's advertisement should encourage them to study, to have healthy habits? May I request that you have this advertisement taken down as soon a possible? While I have no objection to clothes being advertised, I feel strongly that this type if advertisement should not be allowed. I have already written to the company concerned, requesting that they remove this advertisement from their campaign and giving them my reasons in detail. I look forward to hear from you. Yours faithfylly, Amy moreVoting Question: Why are cosmetic companies allowed to say their wrinkle creams really work when its a total lie?

Introduction The assignment allows the candidate to demonstrate the ability to use various modelling methods and techniques when developing computer programs. This assignment is based on the analysis and design of a computerised sales system for a car salesroom that sells new cars manufactured by the Zoom Motor Company. The Scenario The car salesroom requires a computerised record system for monitoring the sale of new cars. The current system is a manual system for recording purchases including details of model, registration number, owner details and price. The salesroom only sells new cars manufactured by the Zoom Motor Company. The Zoom Motor Company currently manufactures nine different models of car as follows: Model Minimum Sales Price City L $8000 City LS $8500 City LX $9000 Cruiser L $12000 Cruiser LS $13000 Cruiser LX $14000 Sport L $22000 Sport LS $23000 Sport LX $25000 The salesroom sells every model manufactured by the company in a range of eight colours (black, silver, white, blue, red, yellow, green, purple). The price charged for the car must be at least the minimum sales price but the salesroom advertises each model at 10% above the minimum price. The eight sales staff are allowed to sell cars at any price and the commission they are paid is 50% of the difference between the actual sales price and the minimum sales price. When a sale is made the following details are recorded: • Date • Model of car • Registration number (allocated on sale) • Sales price • Name of purchaser • Address of purchaser • Telephone number of purchaser • Staff member responsible for sale It is hoped that the computerised system will streamline the sales process and automate the payment of commission to sales staff. The generation of reports will allow the salesroom manager to keep a close check on the performance of the salesroom. The manager will have overall control of the system but the sales staff will be responsible for updating records as new sales are made. The manager requires regular reports of sales in each month by car model and also financial performance data. Task 2 – 10 Marks a) Write the pseudocode for report 3. I'm almost done with it, but I just need to know ahead of time if I need anymore detail, etc... A man by the name of Christopher Morley once stated, “There are three ingredients in the good life; Learning, earning, and yearning.” This statement is true to me on a variety of different levels. I apply what I learn each and every day to the future that is ahead of me, I earn what I want in my life by working as hard as I possibly can on a daily basis, and I yearn to succeed greatly in my lifetime. Growing up as an only child, I have learned to take responsibility for myself early on. I did not have that older sibling to look up to. I had to create my own path, and be successful on my own. To receive this scholarship, I believe you must be balanced, motivated to get yourself on your way to being successful in the future, and have the ability to leave room for improvement. These traits define who I currently am, and who I would like to be when I graduate from college. Planning to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design in four years, I see myself working for a company who needs someone like me to create a logo, maintain a business website, and advertise what they are all about. To do reach my goal, my intention is to manage my time in school to fully understand what I am studying, get involved with other art students to discover even more of my talent, and possibly intern with a company to get used to working hands-on with potential clients. Earlier this year, I received a January Student of the Month award in my Whiteside Area Career Center classes for Digital Media Arts for getting a GPA of 4.0. Later on, I was put on the Dean’s List for my Whiteside classes as well during my senior year of high school for Sauk Valley Community College. Then, in May of this year, my dream of getting an art award finally came true. I was given the Principal’s Award for my art panel in our school’s art show. I could not have achieved what I was awarded without my strong perseverance towards my career. Getting a degree in Graphic Design has been my personal goal since my sophomore year in high school when I finally decided what I wanted to do with my life, and knowing that I am getting awards for something that I love to do is the best feeling I could ever experience. Education to me is extremely important especially through the times we are all going through. It will enable so many more doors to be opened once I graduate from college. Most of our knowledge is acquired from on-the-job experience, but college is the true foundation, and without that education, my job would not be within reach. This scholarship will be able to help me have that job that I love, earn a higher salary, and obtain many comforts that others do not have with only a high school diploma. I want to share my knowledge and success with others later on that would like to do just the same. moreResolved Question: what is the best way to obtain employment?

I am 13. Over the summer, I want to start an online business. I am currently taking a Business Camp at my school. My ultimate goal is to make six or more figures a year, and become Financially Independent. I know it sounds crazy since I'm only 13, but it is my dream. I have 2 major online business ideas that could work, but I need help choosing the one that would make the most money. 1. My first idea is a website where free users can submit original songs and other users can listen, rate, comment, share, and chat with other users. I would also have an area where users can post info and another area where bands can find new band members. To make money from the site, I would sell ad space, sell an ecourse on songwriting, and maybe creating a pro membership if the site becomes big enough. I have a problem though. Since I have no coding experience, I would have to hire a web design firm to create the site. The problem is that it might cost a lot ($100,000) to create the site. If it does cost that much, should i hire a programmer from elance or something like that? Thats how the website Digg was created. If it still costs a lot, should I have my parents apply for a loan from SBA? Overview of #1: Target Market: Musicians, Bands, Independent Artists, Songwriters. Revenue: Ad space, Pro Membership Costs: Website, Marketing, Website Matinence Type of Business: Online Business, Online Company, Service Business Idea #2. This idea is a basic business idea. I would create a basic website (not a webs.com type of site, but not a huge firm site). I would join a well reputated wholesale company that sells and dropships musical instruments. I would list the products on my site using an eccommerce section, and allow customers to make orders. I would price the products to make profit. When I get an order, I send the order to the wholesale company, and they ship the products within 24 hours. They are most likely always in stock, and will notify me of any problems. Overview of Idea #2: Target Market: Musicians, Bands, Independent Artists, Dj's, bass players, guitarists, drummers, keyboard players, lighting people, record producers. Revenue: Profits from Products, Advertising on Website Costs: Dropshipping, Cost of Products, Website, Website Matinence, Marketing Type of Business: Online Business, Online Company, E-Tail Business, Retail Business, Ecommerce, Product Business. Which idea do you like the best? Which idea do you think is most profitable? If you think #1 is the best and most profitable.... Why do you think that? How should I build the website? Will the website cost a lot? Should a get a loan from SBA? Would people like this site? If you think #2 is the best and most profitable.... Why do you think that? Do you think it is a good idea? Please help me. Even if you don't think any of these are good ideas, if you had to choose one, which one would you choose? Thanks! Also, I just received a call from my grandpa saying he is willing to invest money into either one of my ventures. Another GREAT THING is that I just realized my cousin is finishing college and was in college for web design. Even if it is a not perfect site, it could be a prototype. Hello, thank you for allowing me to analyze one of your ads. What exactly is advertising? According to http://www.rubak.com, advertisement is “the attempt to send information to people to convince them to spend their money with a certain company I came across one of your ads regarding a new sandwich you invented: the BK Super Seven Incher. The ad has a young woman with her mouth wide open, looking surprised and nervous. There is a sandwich across from her mouth suggesting that the sandwich is too big to fit in her mouth. Written in bold letters “It’ll blow your mind away“. The target audience seems to be men. As a young woman and Burger King Consumer, I find the ad offensive and insulting. In your mission statement you state “We will conduct all our business affairs ethically, and with the best employees in the mid-south”. You seem to doing the exact opposite in this ad. In your ad, you appear to make the Super Seven Incher so big and juicy that women would not be able to handle it, especially with our small mouths. The ad seems to make everything seem larger. The words are printed in big bold letters, the sandwich is made to appear rather large, and the woman seems to be blown away by the size of the sandwich. On the bottom right hand corner, it is written “fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-broiled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind blowing burger……” Since when has something as innocent as eating a burger become so sexual? I understand that you are simply trying to get your new sandwich out there, and spending a good amount of money to advertise it. Advertisers currently spend about $360 million a year on product placements in films and TV programming, according to the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF). sexual innuendos of this sort is inappropriate - especially when it comes to advertising fast food (which most likely will be viewed by innocent, impressionable children).Burger King is a popular fast food restaurant and everyone eats there, women, men, teens, and especially young children. When innocent kids see your ad, what are they suppose to think? It’s just not ethical to portray a sandwich as humor or sexual. In today’s society, women are especially used for advertisement. As jean kilbourne states in her movie “Killing Us Softly” (1999), women’s bodies are used as tools. From clothing, to perfumes, to sports, even foods, as in this ad. Women’s bodies are used to sell. Women are portrayed as having a hot body, but no brain. Just put a half naked girl next to anything and it’s sold. Why didn’t you use a surprised-looking man trying to fit the big sandwich in his mouth? Why only portray a woman with this type of facial expression in this particular situation? In all, if you want to have better results in sales, try not to offend women or any gender or race. If you make an ad that appeal to all genders, you will have better sales. Using women in an offensive manor is an ugly trend that needs to stop. Burger King is a well known restaurant, and well respected, in order to keep it this way, you shouldn’t use such offensive ads, similar to the Super Seven Incher. moreResolved Question: are you good at writing? plz take a look at my short essay (very short)?

Basicaly I work in a UK department store in milton keynes. Recently a poster appeared on the store notice board advertising 4 team leader vacancies. I have worked in the company for 3 years and get along very well with all of the managers aswell as alot of the staff. Just after christmas we got a new store manager who seems to absoloutely hate me. The person he replaced I also got along with very well before he left. Now when I say he hates me his whole method of management is based upon fear. I am quite a confident person and will make the effort to talk to all of my managers even if I dont work with them however this man simply fills me with fear since he started he has not said a single word to me and whenever he sees me he stares. He knows that I have a good relationship with all the managers and seems to dislike me for it. Seing as their where 4 vacancies for team leaders I was very happy and decided to apply, My line manager recomended me and with the backing of a few other managers I got given an interview. At the interview I was given some very tough questions and battled through to the best of my ability. Seeing as the interview wasnt with the new manager and with a manager I have worked closely with since starting at the company. However a week later I was told that I was unsucsesful becuase it was felt that I didnt provide enough evidence in my interview aswell as lacking experience on the sales floor. I have been in the company for 3 years. The other candidates who where sucessful at first where people I have worked with before who I respected and felt that they deserved the job. All of which had been their for a similar period of time to me. However recently they have promoted the next team leader from the round of applicants. I was shocked to find that the member of staff promoted has only been with the company for 4 months and has only worked on 1 section wheras I have worked on every department in the store. Not only this but Back in march when the last round of promotions happened it has been aparent that. Shy and passive people have been promoted which I see as some sort of control element by the new manager who overall has a say in everything going on in the shop. It almost seems that noone with any sort of backbone will be put forward for a team leader role in the company. We also have a sister company which operate in a very similar basis and from speaking with my firiends that work their it doesnt happpen in their company and in other stores in our company. What can I do / Complain and raise this issue to as it is bound to happen again and I really feel just to leave work and not come backits not that hes bullying me. And I cant really sit down with him becuse hes not a manager whos actively involved. plus if i say whats your problem he will say therre is none. He knows what hes doing hes manging on fear becuase employees fear him but it doesnt make anyone work harder everyone just avoids him. I wrote a persuasive essay for English a while back and I thought it'd be appropriate to post it somewhere on the Internet, so why not Y!A? :D Anyways, I can't find my 4 or 5 sources anywhere but will edit them in if I find them. Tell me what you guys think...once I get the sources up you can check my internal citations :P Hybrids Are Bad for the Environment Hybrids are all the craze nowadays and the car companies are selling them under the impression that they are the ultimate in green car technology. They have an advertised MPG, or miles per gallon, that is much, much higher than gasoline and diesel fueled cars. They emit fewer greenhouse gases while running which contributes to the slowing of global warming, the natural heating of the Earth which can be intensified due to higher than normal amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Finally, they use less gasoline because of the MPG which will save the precious gasoline supplies in the world. But are they really that eco-friendly? Hybrids use Nickel-Cadmium or Lithium-ion batteries, Cadmium and Lithium being extremely rare in large quantities. The processing of the nickel in preparation for battery making releases copious amounts of sulfur dioxide into the air, which causes acid rain, which will destroy the ecosystem for miles around the nickel plants. Hybrids also advertise 19 MPG higher than what the realistic MPGs of hybrids are, and the precious gasoline that hybrids are using less of, will run out about the same time the precious minerals used in the hybrid batteries run out at current rates. There are also hybrids that plug into the wall, and of course that makes the emissions out of the car less, but the emissions from the coal being burned in 70% of the United States is much less clean than the gasoline and diesel fuels. Hybrids should not be developed further, as they are as destructive to the environment as gasoline cars are, as they use precious minerals in their batteries, cause acid rain around the nickel plants, destroying ecosystems, not saving them, and burn coal instead of gasoline for power. The best alternative for the most eco-friendly car is a clean diesel car with the PZEV, or Partial Zero Emission Vehicle, option available at many dealerships. The batteries used in hybrids destroy ecosystems around the mining and processing plants and the precious minerals used in hybrids will run out at about the same time as gasoline. Will this really solve the problem? The batteries in hybrids, in an example of the Prius batteries, made in Sudbury, Ontario, cause acid rain. According to Impact Lab, “[t]he acid rain around Sudbury was so bad it destroyed all the plants and the soil slid down off the hillside” (Prius), and with more and more companies creating hybrids, more and more battery processing plants will be made, causing more and more acid rain due to the copious amounts of sulfur dioxide emitted during battery processing. Not only do the batteries destroy the ecosystems around the plants, “after maybe 100,000 miles, the battery starts to lose its ability to charge. Tesla Motors performance figures even state that after 50,000 miles, the batteries will only perform at about 70% their optimal, factory level” (Why). What does that mean? That means that after 100,000 miles the battery will have to be replaced, and the used batteries cannot be recycled, and thus just go into landfills. And if you want optimal performance, you’d have to change the battery every 50,000 miles. The average gasoline car can be used until nearly 300,000 miles before ultimate failure with minor repairs, which is 4-7 batteries in a hybrid. And you have to remember that, according to Four-bits.com, “lithium… is pretty rare in large quantities. With projected increases in the use of lithium, the known mines would run out about the same time as oil” (Why). This makes hybrids just another quick fix that won’t fix the problem with the environment long term. Many hybrids are being converted into plug-in hybrids which plug directly into a household wall socket and charge via the coal-burning power plants that provide electricity to 70% of the United States, and coal emits many more greenhouse gases than gasoline does. This means that “coal-burning plants could be even worse for the environment than gasoline-burning engines…” (Hybrid). And even in the green-powered electricity states, such as California, Jim Motavalli of The Environmental Magazine quoted that the “ACEEE concluded that a plug-in version of the Toyota Prius could reduce CO2 emissions by a third over a conventional Prius hybrid, but only if its batteries were charged with California electricity — generated mainly from relatively clean sources. In the Midwest, dominated by coal-burning power plants, the report says the plug-in Prius would actually generate one percent more carbon dioxide” (Motavalli). California being the strictest state in emissions standard, this is a rare case of hybriThanks for your rebuttal :D I spent about 5 hours digging through all the pro hybrid stuff to get to this con hybrid stuff... I still dislike hybrids (I'm a fast car guy, not a fuel efficient one) but I was not aware that the sudbury (spelling?) was cleaned up... anyways, thanks for your rebuttal, I convinced my whole english class that hybrids were bad (including my hybrid-driving teacher) so now I have the actual facts. I'd still rather ride a bike to be fuel efficient. :P moreVoting Question: Can a company say the have the best product without any recognition for it?
Can a company say the have the best product without any recognition for it? For example, Budwiser is know as "the king of beers." But in 1950 they were actually awarded that title. hypothetically, if they were never given that title, would they be able to call them self "the king of beers?" Or is that just a matter of opinion by the company. Also Gray Goose vodka says they have "the worlds best tasting vodka? Is this false advertising is they were never given that title by award, or is it just a matter of opinion? moreResolved Question: I'm unwilling to annoy potential or existing customers, so what marketing perspective is best for me?
My reason for needing to own my own business is the need for integrity. Most of the companies I've worked for have perpetual integrity issues, including their marketing methods and perspectives. I do Geek Squad-like tech support, and I have a recipe for success, other than a somewhat 'beatnik' attitude towards marketing. My current marketing plan includes: -Business networking meetings -Being prepared to describe the benefits of using my services -A concise Website with free training and well-considered SEO -Pens, pads of paper and other useful items with my logo for existing and potential customers -A Facebook page for my business -Submitting to typical advertising venues like Google and Superpages I'm planning on putting some money into advertising, but I'm concerned that my complete unwillingness to 'bother' customers could make for a very slow start. Examples of what I consider bothersome (but seemingly necessary) practices include: -Nagging customers (on the phone, specifically) to allow me to finish projects/do needed maintenance -Forcing promotion of my business into casual conversation Any tips, books, or Websites you're aware of in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Most of the existing materials out there aren't geared towards people like myself. moreResolved Question: Leaving a job & can an employer ask for return of compensation?
I started a job last week. It was advertised as a 6 month contract. HR had me fill out a w-4. (they didn't sign me up as a 1099 contractor). I guess that makes me a temp employee, not a contractor. This job is going good, but I have a lead on a permanent position and if the interview goes well, I'd like to terminate the temp job and switch to the permanent position so I can get health benes rather than my soon to end cobra insurance. What is the best way to do this? I don't want the permanent position company know I'd walk out on a job, but fellow employees of the temp position job have told me stories how fire-happy the company is. The last thing I want is to give two weeks and be let go without income for 2 weeks. So is this as easy as letting HR and my boss know on the day of my last day of work that I won't be coming back, or is there a better method? Also, can the employer withhold wages for an early departure?Just to be clear, the permanent position is, of course, at a different company. It is "at will". From the employment papers: "...with the full understanding that nothing in this Agreement creates any contract for employment or otherwise alters the “at-will” employment relationship between the Company and Employee." moreResolved Question: Just opened a Spray Tan Company- What's the best way to advertise?
