Resolved Question: How many Democrats will try their hardest to keep distance from Obama in the Midterm elections?

In campaigns across the country, many Democrats are doing just that. In Indiana, Rep. Joe Donnelly is running a television ad in which he details his generally conservative stance on immigration while images of Obama and Pelosi are shown on screen. "That may not be what the Washington crowd wants, but I don't work for them," Donnelly says in the ad. "I work for you." Rep. Travis Childers, who represents a district in northern Mississippi where Obama won just 38 percent of the vote in 2008, takes a similar approach in his TV advertising -- promoting the fact that he has "voted against every big budget" since winning a special election two years ago. (Photos: Ground Zero mosque controversy) Even some Democratic candidates who are being heavily touted by the White House appear determined to keep the president at arm's length. Shortly after Obama played a lead role in helping Sen. Michael Bennet defeat former state House speaker Andrew Romanoff in a Democratic primary fight last Tuesday, Bennet was asked whether he would want the president to campaign with him this fall. "We'll have to see," Bennet told ABC's George Stephanopoulos -- a response well short of a ringing endorsement of Obama's political standing. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/15/AR2010081502551.html more

Resolved Question: Should I be concerned that my fiancee's strong political view keep him from supporting me with my work?

After much searching, I've finally gotten a job with a corporation that is in a pyramid scheme (i.e. you find people to join your "team" and work under you and you get a portion of their commission). It's not my ideal job, and I'm not trying to "get rich quick" off of it like they advertise, but I'm doing quite well and at least have an income—which I didn't have before. My fiancee is happy that I've finally got a job of some sort, but he's made it very clear that he doesn't approve of that kind of business and will not support it, even if that means he will not support me. He refuses to even hear details about what I'm selling (debt consolidation programs and life insurance policies) or to even sit through a recruitment meeting (for which I'd actually get a monetary bonus, whether or not he choses to buy the product or become an agent). In fact, I'm up for an all-paid vacation for two to the Carribean in 6 months and he refuses to go with me. I understand his views (I don't like the set up of the company much myself), and am willing to let the issue just drop and not bring my work home to him, but I'm a little concerned by the fact that his agenda keeps him from supporting me at all in my work. I would think that if he really loved me he'd set his personal views aside to help me at least get on my feet. Am I taking this too personally, or am I right to be a little worried? more

Resolved Question: Correlation between YA voters' political orientation and intelligence?

Just wondering, if everyone here who is a Republican and claims to have the credentials that they advertised then how come it hasn't escaped anybody's attention that this can't be believable since there's no way of finding out? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiUgkggCY8wyaE8q0jRRP7nsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100808201626AAhaRSf&show=7#profile-info-nH6CgjRdaa Now I'm going to assume on faith that what've said is true thus far all you need to do is PROVE it. State your political orientation and what you suppose your "IQ" is. Mr. " I have a MENSA score in the top 1 percentile" should think of this as a piece of cake. A number is prime looking if it is composite but not divisible by 2, 3, or 5. The three smallest prime-looking numbers are 49, 77, and 91. There are 168 prime numbers less than 1000. How many primelooking numbers are there less than 1000?I can't believe two math illiterates agreed with the first person...well this just proves that this site is full of idiots after all more

Resolved Question: Do you think that AZ Gov Jan Brewer should return/refuse the donation from White Supremacists?

Arizona's Gov Jan Brewer is fighting hard against the racist and nazi claims against their state. So why is she gladly accepting donation from White Supremacists when she's trying to paint Arizona's image another way? Do you think she should return/refuse this money? http://immigration.change.org/blog/view/white_supremacists_donate_to_arizona_sb_1070s_legal_defense White Supremacists Donate to Arizona SB 1070's Legal Defense When all these hate groups and white supremacists insist on demonstrating their whole-hearted support for Arizona SB 1070 (which was set to go into effect tomorrow but keys parts have been temporarily blocked), it's not easy for defenders of the law to reject criticisms that the law is racist through and through. The deck was stacked against them from the start, what with SB 1070 being designed by Kris Kobach, lawyer for the nativist hate group Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which is all tangled up with white nationalists and has accepted $1.2 million in donations from and published support for the Pioneer Fund, "a foundation established to promote the genes of white colonials." Up until recently, FAIR listed the group "Concerned Citizens and Friends of Illegal Immigration Law Enforcement" on its state contacts page, despite the array of Holocaust denial videos on the organization's website. Under pressure from civil rights organizations, FAIR decided to fend off well-deserved charges of bigotry by finally removing this Holocaust-denial group from its approved list. But the white supremacist money trail doesn't just finds its way to FAIR and the law's beginnings. American Third Position (A3P), a white supremacist political party whose founder has been friendly with Klansmen and neo-Nazis, wanted to show how much it appreciates what Arizona is doing in terms everybody can understand, so it made (and proudly advertised) a donation to the fund Gov. Jan Brewer set in to prepare for the defense of SB 1070. more

Resolved Question: Is it really promoting "Hallal Meat or Promoting Muslims Meat trade only ?

Halal really caries a Message to Muslims to Buy from Their Shops Only. Political interests are once again promoting a build of Block Votes. I have seen this at work on a Railway platform in India. At one end the seller was selling "Muslim Cold water" and at the other end the call was ",Hindu Drinking Water". Here in west London it is the use of the word HALAL when advertising . HSBC had a sign up in their Bank that was advertising , HALAL finance. This sort of selfish advertising should not be permitted in Large Public corporations. What do you think ? more

Voting Question: What do you think of this message from the facebook group admin?

In the past, she showed what a nut she is but I think she may have gone too far because I'm not sure what she's trying to say exactly. Using words that not everyone uses every day and the way she puts it is really strange. It's a group for protecting women from violence, giving them more rights in cases of violence, rape etc.... She sent out 2 messages. Here's the first one: "As of today, I am banning members from this group who espouse the use of illegal tactics in courts, post offensive or otherwise advertise a group dedicated to one gender and to the exclusion of another, advertise services, religion or use this group to gain political office, display symbols or have shown in the past to justify rape or pedophilia. If you fit into any of these categories, remove yourself immediately or suffer the public scorn of me doing it for you. This group was never intended to be used for such things. I have been remiss in not watching as the membership grew, but I am rectifying that past mistake now. I am appalled that a group intended to help all people has degenerated into a group that makes political statements that benefit only one gender and one side. I will not allow this. Remove yourselves immediately or be publicly named for you Nazi type tactics. This group was founded on freedom, not brainwashing." The second one: "I have been busy eliminating those who use this site for political gain. I have some very good friends who use banners against or for a political message. It is against everything we are attempting to correct by displaying such symbols on this site. The basis of our system is supposed to be blind justice, but when you make or respond to a request, using these symbols, friend or not, I cannot allow it. If your photo contains any wording that the court can use to discredit you as a potential witness in a case where there have been court violations, you have defeated the purpose of this site. I urge you to remove all symbols or remove yourself from this list. I will personally be visiting the pages of each member to insure that this is done. We need to remain above the gender bashing and the F this or that childish stage. We need to be creditable witnesses, not a bunch of angry get the government, all women, all men or all anything else. Any emails pleading to be the exception will result in immediate banning. You can have your views on things on your own pages, just not on this one." I'm all for making a difference in general and I try not to involve religion or politics. Am I one of the people she's talking about? more

Resolved Question: What does RISD look for in a portfolio?

I'm very interested in applying to the Rhode Island School of Design in December, but I'm having trouble choosing what oeuvres to fit into my portfolio. For the moment, I'm caught between trying to create the most diverse portfolio possible (including architecture, portraits, cartoons, still life, etc) or just trying to make a stylistic stand (advertising a unique style when it comes to animation-styled drawings and political cartoons..). Does anyone know what RISD looks for in the portfolio? Is there anything essential to add? thanks in advance.. more

Resolved Question: Do you think borderline-propaganda media networks should be sued for distortion of truth for political agenda?

I frequently find myself deeply offended by the frighteningly extremist near-propagandist rhetoric I see on television which always has seen fox leading the way with lunatic hollywood characters obviously just meant to get peoples attention, and hence advertising revenue, at all costs. Who else feels that we as a people in america should sue and demand monetary reprisal from any media channel proven to be grossly biased in the amount of time or emotional quality given to coverage of the various political parties? I think the american people need a stimulus package from those who make millions by poisoning our publics' right to "fair and balanced information". A right which if infringed upon, leads to a sort of corporate mind control over the american people; where we (and hence our entire country by means of influence over who we vote for in elections) become literal mind controlled slaves to the hollywood style tabloid entertainment of giant corporate media? I encourage any of you who have not seen it to google the movie 'outfoxed' and watch it for a clarification of how far this corruption has gone. Let me know how you all feel about this and if I get enough positive attention I will set up a webpage for an official petition of the american people who would both support and fund this lawsuit. God bless. more

Resolved Question: Do you subscribe to these MRA principles and goals?

"Principals and Goals of the Men’s Movement PRINCIPLES we recognize and affirm: The existence of natural differences between the genders. The extreme immorality of certain social forces, and at the same time, the very real opportunity that these forces have to deny, ignore, compromise, and repress these differences and any expression of them. The necessity of cooperation between the genders, and at the same time the inevitability of opposition between them. The scientific inconsistency and dubious morality of any claim by one gender to describe the state, condition, needs, experiences, or the value of the other gender. THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS We define the current situation in the following terms: For two generations masculinity and the male gender have been subject to an all-out attack covering every sphere, from the world of images and symbolism to that of common everyday existence, applied systematically and consistently in every manner and through all means of communication and cultural diffusion. The term male-bashing extends itself to aesthetics, opposing their attainment by men which includes the male body and men’s physicality. Every level and gradation within contemporary culture, and every unit that elaborates on or transmits that culture, without a single exception, is a tool of this program. This phenomenon is the fundamental cause of psychological/emotional harm in individuals and social dysfunctions of an ever-increasing gravity, hindering the entire male gender and in particular the younger generations. THE VALUE OF FEMININITY We reject any kind, however indirect, of denigration, of offensiveness and devaluation, of the ethical, aesthetic, and intellectual worth of the female gender; we repudiate any diminution of the symbolic importance of the feminine, and of the historical importance of female endeavors visible and invisible, past present and future. WE PURSUE THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: The promotion of the essential value of masculinity, specifically with regard to personal dignity and the irreplaceable role of the masculine in the world of image and symbol and of the male gender in every area of life, spiritual and material, for the benefit of present and future generations. The identification and condemnation of any instance of malebashing in every context, form, or style, and any expression of malebashing, direct or indirect, open or veiled. The moral opposition to male-bashing—to the denigration and demonization of men, the denigration of male sentiments, attributes, opinions and needs, the denigration of male contributions and comportment—in the media, literature, the arts, political discourse, historiography, scientific tracts, text-books, advertising, and in every form of expression and means of communication. The restitution of the value and dignity—as well as the historic role—of past generations of men, by means of the deconstruction of feminist historiography. The struggle against the cultural ideals of a Feminist Society and its basic values— therefore against the following: The principle of the moral, aesthetic and intellectual superiority of the female gender; The denial of the existence of anti-male hatred; The criminalization both direct and indirect of the male gender; The planned inhibition of the development of male consciousness; The psychological and chemical emasculation of the younger generations; The domestication and docility of men; The use of the male libido for purposes of speculation, manipulation, intimidation and blackmail; The demand for reparations, material and moral, for the wrongs, real or imagined, sustained by the female gender; The legal commercialization of sexual relations and relations based upon affection; The presumed permissibility of an autocratic imposition of behavioral rules upon the male gender; The principles of political correctness and the imposition of its vocabulary" Translated from Italian by R. Resolved Question: Republicans Block Election Finance reform Bill... ? Why do the Tea Partiers endorse Republicans?

Republican senators have blocked a bill to require an unprecedented level of public disclosure of who pays for political campaign advertising. The Disclose Act had been drafted by Democrats in response to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision that overturned federal and state limits on independent expenditures by corporations to support or oppose candidates.... Resolved Question: Are Republicans being funded by entities that Americans will not approve of? Like the Taliban, China, the Mob?

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/07/27/campaign.finance/?hpt=T2 Washington (CNN) -- Senate Republicans narrowly blocked Democratic campaign finance disclosure legislation in the Senate Tuesday after raising concerns the bill would curb freedom of speech and tilt campaign spending in favor of the Democrats. A 57-41 vote fell short of the 60 votes needed for the Senate to cut off debate on the measure. Republicans unanimously opposed the measure while Democrats solidly backed it. Resolved Question: Why did the GOP block the campaign bill?

As expected, Senate GOP blocks campaign bill By DAVID ESPO (AP) – 1 hour ago WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans blocked legislation imposing new restrictions on political activity by special interest groups Tuesday, likely dealing a fatal blow to a drive by the White House and congressional Democrats to rewrite campaign rules in the run-up to the midterm elections. The 57-41 vote was three short of the total needed to advance the measure, which calls for greater disclosure on campaign advertising funded independently by corporations, unions and other organizations, but included an exemption for the National Rifle Association and a small number of other groups. Less than 100 days before the elections, the debate was highly political — and the outcome widely anticipated. Anticipating defeat, Democrats swiftly unleashed a coordinated attack employing one of their emerging campaign themes. "After a year of defending big banks, big insurance, big oil and other special interests, Republicans might want to drown out the voices of Americans who don't have the financial resources of big corporations but want to have their say in this year's elections," the party's chairman, Tim Kaine, said in a statement. Republicans, anticipating big gains in the fall, folded the day's Senate events into their own election-year argument — that Democrats have been unsuccessful in easing double-digit unemployment. "Today was a rebuke to congressional Democrats who need to put aside their electoral self-interest and start addressing our struggling economy, which continues to be the primary concern among American voters," GOP Chairman Michael Steele said. Democrats drafted the bill in response to a Supreme Court ruling last winter that said corporations and unions were free to spend their own money on advertising, mass mailings and other forms of political activity. A companion measure cleared the House last month on a near party-line vote over vociferous Republican protests. Under both bills, nearly all organizations airing political ads independently of candidates or the political parties would be required to disclose their top donors and the amounts they paid. The group's CEO or other top official would be required to appear on screen taking responsibility for the commercial. Additionally, any business, union or other entity holding a government contract worth more than $10 million would be banned from a variety of political activity, as would firms in possession of federal bailout funds and corporations in which foreigners own more than a majority of voting shares. Corporations, labor unions and others engaging in certain types of independent political activity would be required to report donations, dues or other contributions from all donors who have given $600 or more. Whatever the partisanship involved, the legislation was a case study in the power of special interests. The NRA exemption originally was added in the House after Democrats concluded it was essential if moderate and conservative members of the rank and file were to vote for the legislation. The loophole was then broadened as the leadership sought to quell criticism that it was bowing to a group that had been instrumental in blocking gun control bills long sought by liberals. In the end, the NRA was officially neutral, angering Republicans who didn't want Democrats to have any political help in advancing the legislation. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO both opposed the bill, a rare agreement of two arch-foes. Organized labor had been neutral when the bill passed the House, but switched its position after changes were made to tighten reporting requirements for transfers of dues money from local unions and their national headquarters. The American Civil Liberties Union also was against the bill, arguing it was a violation of First Amendment rights. The constitutional debate was overshadowed by the approach of elections, though. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the bill's chief sponsor, said it was intended to crack down on shadowy campaign groups that spend heavily on attack ads. Referring to Republicans, he said, "There are visions, visions in people's heads of Karl Rove spending $50 million funded by people we don't know to attack candidates for reasons we're not sure of and never putting their name to it." Republicans were unpersuaded. "This bill is a partisan effort, pure and simple, drafted behind closed doors by current and former Democrat campaign committee leaders," said Sen. Mitch McConnell, the GOP Senate leader. "And it's aimed at one thing and one thing only: this bill is about protecting incumbent Democrats from criticism ahead of November." Schumer was chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, which is responsible for maximizing the party's chances in Senate races, before stepping asi more

Resolved Question: Obvious question about a fundamental hypocrisy within the political stances of conservatives?

I don't understand how conservatives are supposed to be advocates of morals and principles, but also supportive of virtually all forms of big business. Here's why: Capitalism is fine. The free market system is the most efficient. But, if one becomes too supportive of this system, he or she will in essence be supporting the marketing engine that challenges and even corrodes the values of society. In other words, when you advocate that all should attend church, but also support heavily advertised NFL football all Sunday long, is it a wonder that no one shows up at the church because they are all watching the NFL or shopping for all of the products advertised on the network. Your big business NFL (and all its sponsors) are taking the very viewers you are hoping to teach morals values and principles to in the church. How is this dichotomy so unclear to those who call themselves both fiscally and socially conservative?Okay, some may be missing the point. The Church and NFL example was not to be taken literally. I could just as easily have asked why support a big business that advocates something harmful like violence if you are supposed to be following the teachings of Christ.Big businesses that advocate violence: Record Labels Movie Studios more

Resolved Question: How come Fox "fair & balanced" News not reported on the White Nationalist openly running on the GOP ticket?

A New Hampshire man who has sparked controversy for spewing racist, white supremacist views has decided to use his divisive platform to campaign for a New Hampshire State House seat. Ryan J. Murdough, a 30 year-old who works with special needs children at a local youth center, is the "state chairman" of an organization called American Third Position, or A3P, a group that defines its mission as "represent[ing] the political interests of White Americans, because no one else will." (The site currently advertises a "moneybomb" for Murdough, with a fundraising goal of $2,500.) In a caustic letter titled "We must preserve our racial identity" published by the Concord Monitor at the beginning of the month, Murdough offers his beliefs on white supremacy and racial segregation: For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state. Affirmative action, illegal and legal non-white immigration, anti-white public school systems, and an anti-white media have done much damage to the United States of America and especially New Hampshire. It is time for white people in New Hampshire and across the country to take a stand. We are only 8 percent of the world's population and we need our own homeland, just like any other non-white group of people deserve their own homeland. It gets worse: "In celebration of Black History month, I am going to recognize what they do best, commit crime, get AIDS/STD's,blame whitey, cry racism." (sic), Murdough once wrote on his Twitter page, which has since been deleted (don't worry though, because according to Murdough: "I am a moderator at www.whitenews.com where I can write more lengthy posts if I choose). Murdough filed as a Republican candidate earlier this month, but the Ashland, New Hampshire man's extreme views have since led to a few state GOP members to publicly condemn him, but Murdough doesn't seem to care. "I don't really need any Republican help. I wasn't looking for it in the first place," Murdough said. "As a whole, I think they've sold white people out." more

Resolved Question: Has the time arrived for Americans to accept government censorship?

http://www.lp.org/news/press-releases/ridiculous-pornography-trial-violates-constitution Personally I was shocked when the GWB administration authorized the OPTF in 2005... http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2005/May/05_crm_242.htm The following quote taken from the above link... " The Justice Department is committed to respecting & protecting the First Amendment rights of all individuals. However, the welfare of America's familes & children demands that ***WE*** enforce the laws on the books..." When did Uncle Sam become the welfare of INDIVIDUAL family units??? I thought PARENTS were their children's 'welfare'??? When did the fed become children's parents/welfare??? *WHO* authorized ***WE*** to enforce the laws on the books??? How can the federal government enforce laws on the books that are non-constitutional??? Did I miss something in our federal Constitution??? Maybe, could it be that the feds missed something in our 10th amendment to our Constitution??? The federal supreme court does not understand the INTENT of the 1st amendment??? Last I knew our federal Constitution was/is not a living document??? Am *I* missing something here??? Now the Obama administration seems to be emulating the GWB administration but in high gear. Like is their ANY diff between these administrations other than title? The fed has already censored tobacco advertising, censored political advertising, has/is censoring sexual advertising/activities between consenting adults, & censoring so called junk food advertising. I mean whats next, general internet censorship? more

Resolved Question: Why did Arizona Tell School Mural Artist to "lighten" Black and Latino students' faces?

A group of artists has been asked to lighten the faces of children depicted in a giant public mural at a Prescott school. The project's leader says he was ordered to lighten the skin tone after complaints about the children's ethnicity. But the school's principal says the request was only to fix shading and had nothing to do with political pressure. The "Go on Green" mural, which covers two walls outside Miller Valley Elementary School, was designed to advertise a campaign for environmentally friendly transportation. It features portraits of four children, with a Hispanic boy as the dominant figure. Principal Jeff Lane claims the change has nothing to do with race, saying "We asked them to fix the shading on the children's faces . . .We were looking at it from an artistic view." This is despite the fact that just last month, City Councilman Steve Blair publicly called for the mural to be removed, saying the most prominent figure in the painting is Black (although the student is actually Latino), reason being to create "racial controversy": "To depict the biggest picture on the building as a Black person, I would have to ask the question: Why? [...] Personally, I think it's pathetic. You have changed the ambience of that building to excite some kind of diversity power struggle that doesn't exist in Prescott, Arizona. And I'm ashamed of that." The only thing I see shameful and pathetic here is accusing a school's mural featuring actual students that go there of "race-baiting." And between Arizona's recent horror of an immigration law, the erasure of ethnic studies in AZ schools last month, and the slew of racial slurs the artists and students endured while making the mural, to be the asshat who denies racism exists here just makes his racism all the more obvious. Email Principal Jeff Lane and tell him he should be protecting his students, not abandoning them by bowing down to such hate. Steve Blair has an email too -- go to town on his ***. Why did they ask the Artist to do that? http://www.feministing.com/archives/0214…http://dailyradar.com/beltwayblips/story/arizona-school-demands-black-latino-students-faces-on/ http://blackpoliticalthought.blogspot.com/2010/06/prescott-elementary-school-principal.html http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0604/arizona-artists-ordered-lighten-skin-tones-school-mural/ http://www.feministing.com/archives/021433.html SRRY for the broken links these should workhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100604/ts_ynews/ynews_ts2425 more

Resolved Question: Will dropping visit/hit numbers to Yahoo reduce their advertisement revenue?

I think that is how advertisement dollars are generated, What is your opinion of that? Also, I haunt the politics section. There seems to be a reduced amount of Q's on the board. Several minutes between Q's. I and others (on both sides of the political spectrum) have posted a number of good ones that are well within boundaries, yet they stay quarantined off the board. They are open for question, but kept off the boards and remain answerless. It seems censorship in play, and will reduce advertising dollars due to the reduced hits. It's their board, but soon or later, people will have enough of not having their views expressed, and simply go someplace else. What is your opinion? more

Resolved Question: Is it possible that the only reason you think media are too liberal is that you are very conservative?

The media's primary job (like it or not) is to: 1. maximize ratings while minimizing costs, leading to 2. the ability to sell more advertising time without spending more to get it, with a result of 3. more profit. Therefore, the media have a vested interest in reaching the largest number of people possible without increasing costs. The easiest way to reach the largest number of people possible is to mirror their opinions back at them; otherwise you run the risk of making them feel disaffected. Therefore, over the long run the media will adapt its message to whatever political position is at the center of the spectrum of political belief. So if you feel that the media are in general too liberal, it probably indicates ONLY that compared to most people, you are relatively conservative. Now before you bring up Fox News's purportedly high ratings compared to other news channels, please remember that this question is directed at ALL media, not just news media. Fox News may get higher ratings than MSNBC, but it by no means follows that Fox News gets higher ratings than all other broadcast and cable channels.Vote Republicrat--Thank you for actually noticing my argument. Do you have an argument showing that the media's primary goal is NOT ratings, etc.? I would like to hear it or see the evidence. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Why is it that this year's World Cup Advertising Campaign has gained that much of worldwide response?

Everyone from every part of the world I know is very focused on following the progressions of World Cup 2010 South Africa. Resolved Question: Would you like to purchase Rye Whiskey from the George Washington Estate?

The Mount Vernon Estate began to re-make the rye whiskey our first President made, approximately two years ago. The estate earned a liquor license in order to sell the product from the distillery they began to make once again. Likely there were political reasons as to why they decided not to sell the whiskey to visitors in anything other than the small shot types of bottles. This past week (and after much inside griping) the Estate decided to sell the whiskey in pint bottles. Thinking that they had enough to sell and still keep some on reserve for later sales the only adverstising that went along with this was a brief local television "interest" news story. Well, the inside gripers can proudly say "we told you so". The Estate sold all of the Rye Whiskey in pint bottles in under 3 hours. The cost? A whopping $85.00 a bottle. This product is made in the exact same way that George Washington made it himself; with the exception that (and to the chagrin of experts) a slight coloring product is added in the last phase - else the Rye Whiskey would be clear. The product would have sold faster than the 3 hours it took except that the credit card machine the Estate was using "burned out" in the first hour. LOL! I am providing a link to the site below to the Distillery as it is about 2 miles from the actual Estate and is in the same location it was more than two centuries ago. The second link is to the Estate itself if you are interested. Have a great day! Distillery: http://www.mountvernon.org/learn/pres_ar… Estate: http://www.mountvernon.org/ By the way, if you go to the "shopping" section the rye whiskey is not advertised. :(The employees wanted to sell the product much sooner than what they did. I think they need to make more as there is now a demand for the historical brew. more

I think it is A or B. This pursuit of political of 'pro-social' issues prompts one to ask ''Why bother?''. MTV is watched by youth for its wall to wall pop video's and financed by the advertising budgets of multinationals anxious to target young MTV viewers. While coke & Levi's are keen on all-living-together-in-peace-and-harmony, they cannot seen approving overtly political condemnation by MTV What does the writer suggest about MTV's ''pursuit of pro-social'' issues(line 31) A: It is done on the initiative of MTV main sponsors B: It is not going to have any effect on MTV viewers C: It may open the eyes of commercial sponsors to social problems D: It might result in a loss of income from advertisers Thank you in advance:) more

Resolved Question: is this play I wrote good? If so can you get me a contact to publish it?

this is it The wizard of us A democrat was in a political storm and ended up in the magical land of U.S. His opening line was Hilary/Bill Clinton we’re not in congress anymore, and then came in the wicked witch of the Illinois (Joe Biden). Now came Sarah Palin, the good which of the west. She goes, “You have no power here go away before someone drops a house on you.” The house of representatives falls on Biden. Now Sarah Palin says “I gotta go, because there’s no place like Nome.” The munchkins (propagandist media and Obama’s huge advertising budget) told democrat that all he needed to do was follow the red tape road. Now democrat meets Nancy Pelosi. She is the brainless scarecrow. Next those two meet the tin man (Osama Bin Laden) holding a gas pump. He has no heart for America and hopes to gain one by being appointed to an important position, destroying American property, raising oil prices and implanting Muslim ideas in small school children. Now they meet the cowardly lion (a CEO of a major corporation). He is far in debt and no longer has the courage to invest in Wall Street. They are attacked by flying monkeys (taxpayers and voters). Now they see Obama the wizard of U.S. Behind the curtain is Marxism and radical ideas. Marxism and radical ideas gives the tin man a key position in U.S. government and a pardon. He then gives the CEO a bailout and two billion dollars to blow on Wall Street and to get into even more debt. He tells the democrat that all he has to do to get back into congress is flick his wrist and the political machine that is democrats in D.C. will put you back. Then he tells Nancy Pelosi “I know you’re brainless. I’m sorry can’t help you there.” Then Clinton remarks that it is Election Day. Just after that comment the flying monkeys (taxpayers and voters) march in and replace everyone of the people there with good republicans. more

Resolved Question: Is Yahoo Answers Violating our Constitutional Rights?

How many of you have had their comments of questions deleted..because a individual "feels" like it was inappropriate...What protects our freedom of expression? The Y.A. guidelines are very vague... 1.Venting, ranting or using hate speech, This is very generalizing Who decides what is venting or ranting?..(Hate speech should be enforced) 2.Chatting or otherwise violating the question-and-answer format. Chatting is a form of communication between two or more people. This rule is very vague..and when you think about it..its kind of silly. 3.Being mean or obscene This is ridicules..What is Mean or Obscene for one person might be acceptable behavior for another. You shouldn't have a rule enforced on you because of your personality...Its unconstitutional. 4.Exploiting the community I agree with this one. I wouldn't want every other post being a person trying to sell you something at their website.. 5.Cheating Kind of Vague but I agree .. 6.Violating the law I agree with this one,but its Ironic because I think Yahoo is breaking the law by violation our 1st amendment. 7.Behaving maliciously This is another vague description. in the description it states this <(Don't post links to sites that contain viruses or malicious programs or that interfere with the operation of Yahoo! Answers.)>.. I agree with the description..but its still kind of vague.. 8.Misusing Answers I agree with this one, you wouldn't want someone using Y.A. for intentions that it wasn't designed for. 9.Doing harm This shouldn't be here because it is generalizing. What you think is safe could be seen as harmful to others. That's the rules we are supposed to abide by on Yahoo Answers..but here is the law that Yahoo has to abide by.(Yahoo is an American Company in California, so United States Law applies to them) First Amendment - Religion and Expression Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. 1.Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and by many state constitutions and state and federal laws. Criticism of the government and advocacy of unpopular ideas that people may find distasteful or against public policy, such as racism, sexism, and other hate speech are generally permitted. There are exceptions to these general protection, including the Miller test for obscenity, child pornography laws, speech that incites imminent danger, and regulation of commercial speech such as advertising. Within these limited areas, other limitations on free speech balance rights to free speech and other rights, such as property rights for authors and inventors (copyright), interests in "fair" political campaigns (Campaign finance laws), protection from imminent or potential violence against particular persons (restrictions on fighting words), or the use of untruths to harm others (slander). Distinctions are often made between speech and other acts which may have symbolic significance. I haven't broken any of Yahoo Answers guidelines..but it will be interesting to see what reason they use for taking down my question.http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techpolicy/2008-07-06-internet-freedom_N.htm more

Resolved Question: whats your opinion on the possible choice, senate Alvin Green?

apparently, he came out of nowhere, living in his dads house, unemployed, although he until recently served in the air force, and army before that, receiving four medals on the way. he also apparently is waiting on a court decision where someone alleges that he showed pornography to a student at the University of South Carolina, which has not reached a verdict yet. he won the primary against the incumbent, who served four terms, after Alvin Green spent very little money campaigning, won with a 59% majority. people have apparently claimed that some reasons for his win (and candidacy) could be that (1), for voters unfamilar with either candidate, voted for greene because his name was on top. i sincerely hope this is not the reason, because it just proves how little effort voters put intp choosing a candidate, in most cases just looking at the political party; or (2), the surname "Greene" is popular among african americans, and voters wanting a black senator would've chosen this candidate. do I need to explain just why i hope this isnt the reason?; or (3), that some voters may have confused the name "Alvin Greene" with the soul singer "Al Green". i hope this isnt the case because choosing a candidate because they are a celebrity is just ridiculous. for one, they are usually dumb. two, its already shown just how much legal leeway they receive in court trials, with cases like michael jackson, the 1995 oj simpson trial, martha stewart, paris hilton, and probably at LEAST to some degree in politics with Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger; and my own reasoning, yet to be hypothesized by the media, (4) because of the recent anti-incumbent sentiment held, and because there hasn't been a black U.S. senator in the south since Reconstruction. however, i think that he would make an ok candidate. anyone who served as long as he did in the military should be a pretty good one, at least compared to the liars and cheaters we have in now. South carlina has recently been a hotbed of political scandals, and it was suggested that this could be another one, with some people saying that he is a republican plant, which personally doesnt make ANY sense to me, as he has had VERY little advertising, no website, and even no yard signs or bumper stickers. if he was a republican plant to beat out the incumbent, then it certainly was a bad execution of one at that. and there has been criticism to his form of speech, when he replies to yes or no questions, al he gives is a yes or a no, while politicians usually give a short, vague speech, using words that nearly every american is in favor of, e.g. "pro life", and "pro choice", every likes life, and everyone likes being able to choose, right? phrasing started by politicians. when you serve in the military, thats how you are trained to respond. you arent supposed to ask questions, or give lengthy elaborations, you are supposed to simply say "sir yes sir" or "sir no sir", without any questions. and after the probably ten years or so he served, you would expect that that would be how he speaks in nearly all situations.i dont want 2 be a cons- im saying i hope thats not the reason because i DONT want a politician elected by race. and this is not my reason, it was given by Senator Robert Ford in an interview on the topic, the only one of those reasons which was mine was reason number 4. the other 3 were taken entirely from another person, i just put them into my additional details, and i am not saying those are my views.and what makes you think that this has any RACIST motivation??? i am FOR his election!! (while i do agree that there are probably more blacks with the surname greene, its not racist. racist is against, attacking or degrading to blacks, this is just a fact, like how whites for some reason make up a lower percentage of prisoners. NOT racist. you idiot.) more

Voting Question: The end of the Republican Party is coming?

Hispanics will make up 78 percent of Texas' population growth over the next 30 years, compared with only 4 percent for whites, according to demographic projections. Minority children already make up 66 percent of the state's 4.8 million public school enrollment — and Hispanics could surpass whites in the state's overall population by 2015, estimates show. Not one of the state's 181 legislators is a Hispanic Republican. “The figures are irrefutable. I am extremely concerned,” longtime Republican advertising executive and political consultant Lionel Sosa said of his party's future. The party must do a better job of drawing Hispanics or what is now “a serious problem,” Sosa said, could turn fatal. Within a dozen years, Latinos could be electing Democrats “because Democrats have the right message and Republicans have the wrong message,” Sosa said. “I don't think it will happen. If it happens, then Texas will turn into a Democratic state and once Texas turns Democratic … We'll never elect a Republican president again.” Very shortly the population of Hispanics will be greater then any other in the US. Some xenophobic americans are afraid and consider the change in demographics an "invasion", nobody is "invading". The country is changing and unfortunately Hatred is growing among some people. Just face it Hispanics will be the majority and you cant stop it, no matter what! And yes spanish will be the language of this nation. People in the US from all spanish speaking country's need to unite.
