Resolved Question: Is Premiere Productions Inc. a bait and switch scam operation?

I had an interview with Premiere Productions Inc. for an Event and Wedding Planner position that they had advertised on Craigslist. I was interviewed by one person and she told me that I was perfect fit for the position and company which was odd to me because she hardly asked me any questions about my background and qualifications. The day after the interview I received an email and call from a man named Joshua Komer who told me that the position would require me to pay Premiere Productions Inc. $3500 to $11,000 for their training which they did not mention in their job listing or during the in person interview. Since when do you have to pay a company thousands and thousands of dollars for 12 weeks of training as a prerequisite for a job? I told him that I was looking for a legitimate job and career opportunity. I expressed my reservations and concerns about the costs associated with their training program. Joshua told me that they could assist me in taking out a loan and line of credit in my name to finance the training. He also made it a point to assure me that I wouldn't have a problem paying the loans off quickly because I would be making lots of money through various internships during the training program. If that's the case then why do I need to pay them so much money in advance and why can't they take it out of the earnings I'm going to make while I'm being trained. This fellow Joshua sounded like a used car salesman. I consulted a friend of mine who happens to be an attorney and he told me that this sounds very hokey and thinks that they're trying to convince me to take out a loan so that they get all the money up front and will be in the free and clear once I realize that Premiere Productions Inc. is a fraudulent scheme at which time the only recourse I will have is to deal with both Premiere Productions Inc. and the bank to seek financial restitution. Then Joshua proceeded to tell me that he is currently an Event Producer at Premiere Productions Inc. and was in my shoes just a few shorts months ago, but took a leap of faith and paid for their training program. If Joshua is really an Event Producer, then why is he spending all this time trying to sell honest job seekers on the hopes and false promises of their paid training program when he should be planning events and weddings as he was allegedly trained to do. I asked to speak to his supervisor and I was told that I would be contacted by a lady named Maria Cook. When Maria contacted me over the phone, I pressed her for more details regarding the training and job. I could not get a straight answer out of her regarding how I was going to get paid while enrolled in the training program. Although that didn't prevent her from trying to coax me into trying to sign a contract to pay them $11,000. When I told Joshua and Maria that I would not be signing up for their training program they got very hostile and angry. In addition I kept receiving hostile and harassing emails from them for several days. Is it me or is their job posting for Event and Wedding Planners a good ole bait and switch tactic to get people to pay money to get training for placement into a non-existent job? Open Question: Why in the world are all these "online degree programs" so very very expensive?

I have checked into the pricing of most every advertised "get you degree online here" programs that are advertised on tv and on webpages...WTF???? What is wrong with these people? There prices per credit hour are outrageous and highly unjustified and downright greedy and hec. WTF is the deal? They are in fact...so very greedy and ill priced.that most of them after spending 30 minutes navigating all over their site..you still will not have found ANY info on their cost for tuition...which makes it seem like it is a F***ing SECRET or somthing!!! i have had to write to most of them or fill out their little crap and let them bombard me with freakin' phone calls...just to find out or get any idea at all of their cost...that is how embearassed these people are of their greed...the go out of their way to absolutley avoid the issue on their FAQ pages and all the rest of their website areas.... Why is it so stupidly expensive at the "Online Only" colleges...you all know the names of them. University of Phoe***, Wald** University., etc... How in the world do they justify this staggering sticker shock of tuition fees when they should automatically be so much cheaper because they have no brick and mortar campus to maintain..which should in my mind greatly affect cost... My God man! I could goto HARVARD for the same money....these people.. WTF???? Please adivse. Why are they so expensive...??? Other than greed...and why all of them? How do THEY justify this greed/redicuous absurd tuition and fees...when everything is online. I feel sorry for the folks that do not realize their local communty college. or most any college anywhere nowadays offers most of their classes online, hence the same degree mostly from home....done online...or a substanial portion of it...but also with the benifit of a b&m place to goto when you have a problem or need help...a much better value of course by any way you look at it... all for much much cheaper. Without all the burden of massive student loans that these schools I am complaining about are so quick to push you into...they act like it's free money..you know you cannot even claim bankrupcy for student loans...you are stuck with them babies for life man.. These places are in my opinion...a ripoff...and they prey on the non prudent. How do these places justify their super expensive tuition and fees is my question..play devil's advocate and come to their defense...I cannot imagine? Open Question: How many Discover card customers failed to receive their $10 bonuses that were advertised on postcards in 2009?

I received three postcards that each listed 15 businesses (although one postcard had some duplicates) and each said that I would receive $10 if I used the card at one of those businesses. (This is $10 per postcard, not per business.) The postcards also said that all the businesses took Discover card. I went to three of the businesses. One said that they do not take Discover card and accused Discover card of trying to pressure them by putting their name on the postcard. (That is another issue.) I used the card at the other two businesses, which were from different postcards. I did not receive the money that was promised on the postcards. I called Discover tonight and spoke with someone who said that this has been happening a lot and that she would send an e-mail to her supervisor and that I would receive the money, but only because I called, not automatically. My question is "did this happen to you?" However, I also want you to know that, if you received one of these postcards, and shopped at one of the businesses listed, you should check whether you received your bonus, and should call Discover if you did not receive it and still want it. more

Open Question: Exactly what is "Elders Entertainment Center" in Decatur, GA?

I live not far from this place, and it seems to be a nightclub/bar of sorts. People are still there until apparently 4:30a.m. and later when they pack out of the parking lot to leave. To my knowledge, clubs and bars were limited a year or two ago by law to not be open later than like 1 or 2...if it was even that late. I've also seen "Traxx" advertised up there one night. By the way a lot of the people drive when leaving there (I've seen them on my way to work at 4:30am)...they serve alcohol there, apparently. Every year it seems like something else. It was "The Gate" originally, not too far away. They got shut down for selling alcohol to minors. Then it became "The Bounce" or something similarly retarded sounding. Shut down. The owner kept getting another license to open under another name or was apparently getting someone else to open it under their name for them. Now we've got this stupid place that's only a few blocks from where that stuff was. What is it? Strip club? Bar/Club? Dance club? Brothel? They seem to have the windows blocked with shades or something that keeps people from being able to see in. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me info about this place and why it's able to stay open so late when others have to close earlier by law. more

Open Question: Ending Lease agreement before lease end date.?

I know the following falls under breach of contract but we have no other alternative. After 5 months of opening our business - it is bankrupt. The local people just didn't want to support us. We advertised like mad. But nothing. We did some marketing beforehand (obviously) and the people couldn't wait for us to open. Well,...After 5 months we can not go on with the lease. We still have 6 months left. We are already one month in arrears and can not pay anymore. We really hoped for more business, but nothing. We used up all our savings. History: We signed a contract with Mr X and he told us that all reparations that has to be done, we will be obliged to pay for but he will subtract it from our monthly rental. However, Mr X sold the premises to another company during this time without our knowledge. We just got a call one day and she said we must pay into their account. They are the new owners. We asked for some rental relief, but No. We also put in the toilets, sewerage pipes, doors, basins, etc to be able to get our business license. These new owners did not want to reimburse us. The contract is in my husband name and we are in real need for someone to help us with the wording of a letter to explain and hopefully the landlord will cancel the lease. I just need some help. We had a sign on the gable end of our property with the name of the house which has been there for 103 years. Someone complained about the sign and the council came and demanded that the sign be taken down or we would face a £2500 fine for illegal advertising, as i said before the sign is the name of the house and not a business name. My father owns a 6,000 sq ft. store in LA and we always display what we sell in our store for business purposes, like any other business would right? we sell phone cards, so we post posters up on the window for the card company, we sell lottery, so we put the CA LOTTERY banner up by our store name. today a man who works for the city gave us papers and ordered us to take down everything affiliated with anything and everything off. we could only put 25% of advertisement's out for the public to see, BUT the thing is! next door there is a large grocery store and they advertise much more than we do. they even have a kiddy ride out there plus a huge glacier water machine out there. IF WE were ordered to take out our coin toy machines and gumball machines shouldn't they?.. well they my dad a week to take everything out. MY REAL CONCERN IS, can the city do this?? i looked on their website, and did my research on their codes of ordinances, and it does not say anything like that!!!! more

Resolved Question: Have I done something wrong?...being taken to employment tribunal.?

am single parent to disabled child who gets funding to employ tutors to work with my son at home and school. This has been going well for 2 years. I advertised for tutor part time, self emploed making clear it was 2 month probation period before Xmas. I employed someone from the school my son attends part time thinking they would be suitable....three weeks into training (34.5hrs/50hrs training) I assessed her to be unsafe i.e letting my son play with electrical sockets without stopping him/ not doing therapy as being taught; 90% incorrect then contridicting tutor whom was training her (did it to me days earlier when training her). Asked for reference from her when she applied for job and a few times up until she started the position. She eventually gave me reference two weeks into post (7 weeks after I interview her asking for reference ...the reference confirmed her 'danger' around children! She said she taught english to foreign students but could not write simple instructions for my son to follow, do phonics, teach writing skills and not say words including his name (my son has severe communication and speech impairment)She was also a bit off with him when he did not respond, pushed him to chair instead of direct him and screamed at me and refused to leave for an hour when I dismissed her (in my home my son started to cry and she pushed him out of way and slam door behind her.....my son follows his tutors to the door to wave bye and nearly had his hand injured by the sheer force she slammed door). I had no choice but to dismiss her as she believed sitting child down to explain danger was enough(she said she worked with this disability for many years and was experienced)...my son has no danger awareness due to disability needs to be stopped immediately from something not sat down after he has touched electrical sockets etc... The reference was from the HT from the school. She said the HT didnt like her. I explained with or without reference that I was very concerned and I would have had to let her go and the reference only confirmed my fears (I did not tell her what HT said over phone). She emailed me next day accussing me of ruining her life etc...and she was out to get HT very angry with her. Anyway had letter today at school she is taking myself and school to employment tribunal for racism ( I employed a greek man and american woman before her she is spanish) and wants job back and compensation. I am unemployed carer to my son and have a new tutor now...plus I would not want someone to be with my son who is aggressive, cant teach/speak/spell english to a level he can understand (age 5) and wont stop him from injuring himself. I am single parent to disabled child who gets funding to employ tutors to work with my son at home and school. This has been going well for 2 years. I advertised for tutor part time, self emploed making clear it was 2 month probation period before Xmas. I employed someone from the school my son attends part time thinking they would be suitable....three weeks into training (34.5hrs/50hrs training) I assessed her to be unsafe i.e letting my son play with electrical sockets without stopping him/ not doing therapy as being taught; 90% incorrect then contridicting tutor whom was training her (did it to me days earlier when training her). Asked for reference from her when she applied for job and a few times up until she started the position. She eventually gave me reference two weeks into post (7 weeks after I interview her asking for reference ...the reference confirmed her 'danger' around children! She said she taught english to foreign students but could not write simple instructions for my son to follow, do phonics, teach writing skills and not say words including his name (my son has severe communication and speech impairment)She was also a bit off with him when he did not respond, pushed him to chair instead of direct him and screamed at me and refused to leave for an hour when I dismissed her (in my home my son started to cry and she pushed him out of way and slam door behind her.....my son follows his tutors to the door to wave bye and nearly had his hand injured by the sheer force she slammed door). I had no choice but to dismiss her as she believed sitting child down to explain danger was enough(she said she worked with this disability for many years and was experienced)...my son has no danger awareness due to disability needs to be stopped immediately from something not sat down after he has touched electrical sockets etc... The reference was from the HT from the school. She said the HT didnt like her. I explained with or without reference that I was very concerned and I would have had to let her go and the reference only confirmed my fears (I did not tell her what HT said over phone). She emailed me next day accussing me of ruining her life etc...and she was out to get HT very angry with her. Anyway had letter today at school she is taking myself and school to employment tribunal for racism ( I employed a greek man and american woman before her she is spanish) and wants job back and compensation. I am unemployed carer to my son and have a new tutor now...plus I would not want someone to be with my son who is aggressive, cant teach/speak/spell english to a level he can understand (age 5) and wont stop him from injuring himself. I asked on CruiseCritic.com if anyone knew of a website that alerts you when the price for a specific cruise has dropped, similar to some out there that check airfares. I made an account on exploretalent.com a little while back, I had saw it advertised about casting calls and this stuff so I signed up for a free account. Once it told me I had to pay to submit for any audition I was like ehh whatever and forgot about it. Then I got a phone call today from a man, he kind of had an accent so it was a little hard for me to understand everything he was saying, that and trying to keep my son quiet so I could talk on the phone lol He basically was saying he wanted to be my agent, talked about making me business cards with my picture on them and wanted to submit me for a role in a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Now, that sounds great, if it is real ya know. I'd love to be an actress! Voting Question: Is this internship worth it in the long run?

I just turned 20 and am a sophomore in college, and some guy who just graduated from my college recently told me about this "paid" internship. I am a bit unsteady about the lady looking for interns though...The thing is, she is around 60 yrs old, and obv. her ideas haven't taken her anywhere yet...she wants to start a website where she sells articles to CEO's*although the information isn't anything special*...Every article that I write and is then bought I get $25...I highly doubt many articles will even be purchased though. There are two other interns...the weird guy who graduated told me about it (, and this 50 yr old guy who (although he seemed to have had a nice career in the past) is doing it to get into Business. I am going into business, marketing and advertising *minor*, and I dunno...I haven't started any of my major or minor classes yet, but I just started this "internship," but am starting to feel it is a waste of time. Here are my concerns: *The internship is for some lady's website. *Her idea seems pointless to me since most CEO's are CEO's because they already know how to do business...not to mention, the articles are NOT worth paying for. *The lady is really disorganized and doesn't seem to care: For instance, she told me to meet her at 1:00 for training...so I had to leave class early...and I waited for her until 1:15, called and left a message...well, I finally at 1:45 I read my email and notice she sent an email out just then stating 2:00 (although she sent me a private email stating 1:00)>:( She had her phone, but never called me back, and when I told her, she just laughed. *She also doesn't seem to know how to do things...like she will accidentally close her internet windows and have to reopen everything...but she insist on typing in the URL...through pecking...and will make a mistake so it takes around 5 minutes for her to get to a site. She also spells my name incorrectly half the time, and yesterday sent out an email telling me and her two other interns to meet her at this bar and she would buy us drinks. I emailed her and reminded her that I am underage along with an attachment of something she asked me to send. She sent THREE emails in response to my attachment, but said nothing about the bar...the meeting is tomorrow *she is last minute as well* *I am studying abroad next year, and want to self-study *I like languages* Japanese before I go...and she waste sooo much time...I studied abroad before *high school* with no language experience, and if I had some beforehand, I would have been even more fluent -_- It has only been a few days, but I am thinking maybe I should drop this internship and focus on one with an actual Marketing company next year when I start my business classes *I live in the Silicon Valley* I am not sure if this internship is worth it...it sounds like a pyramid scheme, but what bothers me most is this lady is very incompetent and confusing *like she expects everyone to know what to do/to be available whenever she wants/etc* I like the idea of an internship, and don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I just get a weird feeling about this lady...
