Voting Question: Why do people say mephedrone should be illegal?

Its a safe alternative to Extacy and coke and its 97% pure since its legal. No long term effects have been recorded about the drug. After all it even benifits plants, at least that's what they advertise, so wouldn't the companies selling it online get hit with false advertising if it didn't? Granted, the occasionally idiot OD's and dies, but that's with any drug. more

Resolved Question: Goal for High School Smoking Is Unmet?

The nation has failed to reach its 2010 health goal of reducing high school smoking to 16 percent, federal officials said Thursday in a report calling for a resurgence of antismoking advertising to counter the tobacco industry’s $12 billion marketing campaign. “People are getting the image that it’s cool to use nicotine as a drug,” Terry F. Pechacek of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in an interview. “We need to bring back our voice, our antismoking mass media campaign.” The popularity of hookah bars and smokeless nicotine products, Mr. Pechacek said, are the modern equivalent of the banned Joe Camel cartoon in their appeal to youths. And some experts worry that the new health campaign against obesity — spearheaded by Michelle Obama from the White House — may be hampering donations to antitobacco campaigns as public health issues shift in emphasis and compete for funds. “Over all, the antismoking countermessage has been lost,” Mr. Pechacek said as the C.D.C. released its biannual survey of more than 10,000 high school students, showing 19.5 percent of them are smokers. High school smoking rates dipped significantly to 21.9 percent in 2003, from 34.8 percent in 1995, then progress stalled, he said. One-third of high school smokers are expected to die prematurely of tobacco-related disease, said Mr. Pechacek, the associate director for science in the agency’s Office on Smoking and Health. With about four million students graduating from high school each year, the difference between the current rate and the “Healthy People 2010” goal set by the government 10 years ago amounts to an additional 140,000 student smokers and 46,000 premature deaths for each high school class nationally. Separately, a New England Journal of Medicine commentary on Wednesday was titled “Don’t Forget Tobacco.” “By assuming that the tobacco war has been won, we risk consigning millions of Americans to premature death,” Dr. Steven A. Schroeder, a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and Kenneth E. Warner, dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, wrote in the article. “At a time when all eyes are focused on health care reform, escalating medical costs and childhood obesity, cigarette smoking remains by far the most common cause of preventable death and disability in the United States,” they added. “The prevalence of smoking in the United States hovers at 20 percent, more than eight million people are sick or disabled as a result of tobacco use, and smoking kills 450,000 Americans annually.” Because of a lagging antismoking campaign, they said the total smoking rate in the nation was expected to decline only to 16 percent by 2020, and to stabilize at 13.5 percent after midcentury unless more was done to stop it. Mr. Warner said financing for antismoking promotions had been lost from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which has turned more toward childhood obesity, and the American Legacy Foundation, an antitobacco group created in the 1998 master settlement agreement between states and the tobacco industry. Some public health experts say they are concerned that obesity campaigns have attracted more money and attention recently than programs against tobacco. And Mrs. Obama’s national campaign against childhood obesity is occurring at a time when President Obama has said he has found it difficult to quit smoking. “I find it ironic, but I think it also points out the challenge, the addiction that smokers are faced with,” Mr. Warner said. “Those are the two pre-eminent public health issues of the day. What I regret is when we start posing obesity versus tobacco, rather than saying those issues are so important to public health, both of them, that they need to be elevated above the fray.” ( how you think thos problem should be solved or should be met?) more

Resolved Question: Agree or Disagree: Obama's election was the result of false advertising?

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0710/39510_Page2.html “Folks don’t mean what they say, and they don’t do what they say,” Obama said. “People get surprised when we follow through and keep our campaign promises.” “Yes we can,” someone yelled. “Yes we did,” Obama said before jetting off to Las Vegas to headline a trio of events for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. “And we’re still doing it.” 1. Obama PROMISING to have *transparent* healthcare reform negotiations on CSPAN (I believe he promised this appx. 8 times as a candidate). Obviously, the passage of this bill involved nothing but backroom deals and bribes....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbx1JW2mj9o 2. This is literally an Obama campaign add saying we shouldn't vote for McCain because he would add appx $5 trillion to the national debt. (WOW!) "As we borrow from China to fund his [McCain] spending spree, ask yourself: Can we afford John McCain?" (WOW!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN3eWgHhjWk 3. Candidate Obama [on CNN] referring to healthcare mandates: "If a mandate was the solution, we could try to solve homelessness by mandating everybody buy a house. The reason they don't have a house is that they don't have the money." He also bashed his Democratic opponent during the primary for supporting an individual mandate to buy health insurance: "Under any mandate, you're going to have a problem with people who end up don't having health coverage………. there would also be people potentially who are not covered AND ARE ACTUALLY HURT IF THEY HAVE A MANDATE IMPOSED ON THEM." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvcxYMIT_rs&feature=channel 4. He PROMISED to publicly finance his campaign, until he decided he didn't want to do that anymore. (Being the favored corporate candidate brings in a whole lot more money apparently….lol) "If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election." - Barack Obama, fall 2007 "We've made the decision not to participate in the public financing system for the general election." - Barack Obama, June 19, 2008 5. Senator Obama bashing the use of reconciliation to pass a piece of legislation. (But it's cool once his people got in power..........you know, double standards and all.) "We need to rise above the ends justify the means mentality" (WOW!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62zo6Ytkk2g 6.Then there was that PhRMA deal. (eww) ANOTHER Obama campaign ad: "I don't want to learn how to play the game better, I want to put an end to the game." Ironically the guy [Billy Tauzin] Obama is bashing in this campaign ad is THE SAME GUY who cut a backroom deal with OBAMA's White House on PhRMA's behalf to restrict any negotiations on prescription drugs. HMMMMM....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCRO0g9CfAw The Legacy of Billy Tauzin: The White House-PhRMA Deal http://blog.sunlightfoundation.com/2010/02/12/the-legacy-of-billy-tauzin-the-white-house-phrma-deal/ 7. He PROMISED “no lobbyists will find a job in my White House.” But hey, you can always make an exception (or 40 exceptions) to your own ban on lobbyists , right?? Obama makes a mockery of his own lobbyist ban http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Obama-makes-a-mockery-of-his-own-lobbyist-ban-83385832.html 8. He PROMISED to allow FIVE DAYS for the public to view ANY BILL the Congress passed before he signed it into law. If I’m not mistaken, he hasn’t even kept this promise ONCE. "Public Will Have 5 Days To Look At Every Bill That Lands On My Desk" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5t8GdxFYBU (He also sprinkles in some more bullsh*t about lobbyists not running his White House…) 9. Then there was that promise about earmarks and wasteful spending….LOL “We [Obama administration] are going to BAN ALL EARMARKS…” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9E5BvaA9KU “When I am president, I will go line by line to make sure we are not spending money unwisely” (This was a debate with John McCain) 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 etc. You know: Promising he would re-negotiate NAFTA, saying he would close Guantanamo in his first year, saying he would push for immigration reform in his first year, not raising taxes on “95% “ of Americans, bring the troops home from Iraq in his first 16 months, end don’t ask don’t tell.mr. wolf........"I have more confidence in my fellow citizens." ????? And??Ed..........."Nice rant. The reason he won was eight years of incompetency, the deaths of about 4,500 (at that time)" So Obama supporters voted for the only guy on the ballot who wasn't in Bush's party. That's impressive. I'm impressed. Wow.bavarian..........."Doesn't every politician paint him/herself as a champion of the people? tell them what they want to hear, promise the same things every politician before them did?" So "change we can believe in" was actually "change, dumb people believed in long enough to cast a vote"?? Interesting. "Yes We Can" get duped??steve g........."No. 125: Direct military leaders to end war in Iraq" Bush had a withdrawal plan in place before he left office. Not sure why this is counted as a "Promise Kept". Seems like it's there to pad the numbers. "No. 132: No permanent bases in Iraq" Again, until we are completely out of that country, I don't see how this can be considered a "Promise Kept". Again, padding the numbers...I mean technically, yes he kept lots of little promises. But he broke all the big ones. more

Resolved Question: I HAVE BIG IDEAS!!!!!?

I want to start my own country. I will have to buy land from a country that is poor, so I can afford it, but it has good resources, so my country can be rich. Here's how my government would be; You apply to move to my country If you decide not to work, we will send you to an island with resources where you can survive on your own, but you can't return. You start school at 5, and finish at 20, which will be the legal age. Drugs that are psychoactive are illegal. Weapons are banned from people who aren't police, or in the military. We have a powerful military, so war can be avoided at all costs. People can drive cars at 20. People can marry whoever they want, and can marry as many people as they want (any dislike of polygamy is cultural, but since this is a new country, it can have a new culture.) Minimum wage will be 1/5th of maximum wage. People can eat anything that is edible except other people (any dislike of the consumption of things like horses, dogs, cats is only cultural.) Animals must be killed humanely. This includes a bullet to the head, or a quick decapitation. Knives and CO2 will not be used. Government isn't done the same way. There will be people who study the economy under one branch, there will be people who make ethical decisions, and there will be people who will make decisions regarding foreign relations on the last. Each branch will have 100 (congresspeople) to run it. People can say what they want if it isn't threatening, hateful, or discriminatory. People are allowed to criticize the government. Currency will only be used to purchase amenities like vacation, cars, games, toys, homes, etc. Everyone who works will have access to medical care, and food. Only people who have proven themselves as highly intelligent, competent, and wise will get into government branches. They will have one term, and will serve for one year. People who commit serious crimes (this includes murder, abuse, and treason) will be banished to a second island for criminals. They will be separated from the island of people who won't work, so they aren't hurt or killed. People who commit minor misdemeanors will first be given warnings, their second act will be considered, and a punishment will be decided. People are innocent until PROVEN guilty. Circumstantial evidence isn't enough. Corporations that spread lies through advertisement will not be allowed to advertise, judging by the severity of what they did. A public service announcement will air, saying that their claims are invalid. There will be extensive food regulation, so people cannot make crappy products and lie about it. There will never be ingredients such as "natural flavors" and "artificial flavors". Instead of sugar, a very general word with many different forms, products may be labeled as sucrose. Starch is sugar, corn syrup is mostly sugar, malt is sugar. In major cities, there will be the biggest firework shows in the world! Thousands of fireworks will enclose cities everywhere for every national holiday! In schools people will learn history, reading and writing, math, biology, physics, foreign languages, and they will be given an elective. Only paper money will exist, because the idea of coins is silly. Just for fun, really crappy entertainers like ke$ha and Justin Bieber will be banished to a THIRD island, so they don't get killed by the criminals, or annoy the lazy or criminals to death.I will not legalize drugs, because they cause violence. Alcohol is a drug. The plant marijuana isn't a drug, but it contains THC, which is. If they breed marijuana that doesn't contain THC, people can smoke it all they want. If people did shrooms, wouldn't there be a lot more car wrecks? If only wise people make the decisions, and these people are replaced every year, there will not be an imbalance. Just to make sure, there will be certain laws put in place which can NOT be changed. There are other differences between the EU and my government. how my congress is laid out. The laws regarding drugs are tight in my country. There is a maximum wage too. Food is not something that is purchased. how crimes are handled. Oh yeah, there is also a firework show that is amazing. I know all about government, and aware between the similarities between my country and the scandinavian countries.daniel l. This is a stupid question (no offence). People don't own animals. Businesses can. When you are working in the business you can use it on the animals, but that doesn't mean you own it. You can't bring it home with you.People are sent to an island instead of prison, so they can live how they want, but society no longer has to suffer from their presence. more

Resolved Question: How can you have your own style with a dress code?

I have gone to a public school so far, but next year i will be going to a private school and the dress code is as follows: The dress code of Xavier High School strives to reflect good taste, neatness, cleanliness and Christian modesty while avoiding trends and fads. Students reflect pride in themselves and their school by the way they dress and act. It is expected that parents/guardians will require their students to leave home dressed in accordance with these regulations. The administration reserves the right to interpret dress code. Its decisions are final. Our goal was to develop a dress code that is understandable for students, parents and faculty. We have used a collaborative process, which included input from students, faculty, and parents. Through this process, we have come up with the following modifications to the dress code for the 2010-11 school year: Slacks – Solid-color ankle-length dress slacks are to be worn. These slacks must be tan or navy blue. Slacks must be worn at the waist. Shirts/Blouses – Solid-color, collared dress shirts or polo shirts must be worn at all times. All shirts must have sleeves. T-shirts or tank tops with insignias that are visible under the shirt are not allowed. All shirts must be tucked in at all times. Shirts must be buttoned to demonstrate Christian modesty (one button from the top). Small manufacturer’s logos and/or monograms are permitted on the front of the shirt only. Writing on the back of the shirt is not permitted. Optional – the Xavier dress shirt (navy blue, light blue or white)or polo (navy blue, gray or white) purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn. Skirts/Dresses - Skirts/dresses are not allowed, except on designated dress-up days for girls. Shoes - Closed toed dress shoes or tennis shoes are required at all times. Boots are not permitted. Sweaters/Vests/Cardigans – Solid-colored dress sweaters/dress vests/dress cardigans may be worn, but a solid-color, collared shirt must be worn and must be visible under the sweater/vest/cardigan. Optional – the Xavier navy blue or gray dress sweater/dress vest/dress cardigan purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn, but a solid-color, collared polo or dress shirt must be worn and must be visible under the sweater/vest/cardigan. Fleece – The Xavier ¼ zip Fleece ordered and purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn but a solid-color, collared shirt must be worn and must be visible under the ¼ zip fleece. Hats/Bandannas - Hats, caps and other head coverings are not permitted. Scarves – decorative scarves may not be worn . Outerwear - Coats, sweatshirts, jackets, and sunglasses are not permitted in classrooms during school hours. Hooded items may not be worn. Earrings - Earrings may be worn only by females. Excessive earrings are not allowed. Piercings are only permitted in the ears, and must be in good taste. Hair - Hair is to be neat and well groomed. Neither extreme hairstyles nor unusual coloring are permitted. Boys hair is to be off the collar and above the eyebrow. Tattoos – Tattoos must be covered at all times . Casual Days - The final Friday of each month is a casual day. Students may wear appropriate sweatshirts or t-shirts (advertising for alcohol, drugs, bars, etc. are not allowed) with jeans or sweats on these days. During the months of August, September, April and May, boys may wear shorts (but not Capri pants) and girls may wear Capri pants (but not shorts) on casual days. Caps, hats, and bandannas are not allowed. These rules apply for any other casual days that are designated by the administration. Students choosing not to participate in casual day must be in approved dress code attire. Boys may wear earrings on casual days. Excessive earrings are not allowed. Piercings are only permitted in the ears, and must be in good taste. Spirit Days - On designated days throughout the year, students may dress in spirit attire. If students wear shirts that say Xavier (or XHS, or Saints or have the Xavier logo), they may wear jeans or sweatpants. Xavier caps may be worn on these days. Shorts are not allowed on Spirit Days. Students who do not wear attire that says Xavier must be in regular dress code. Dress-Up Days - On designated days throughout the year, students are able to dress up, usually for all-school Masses. Students must exercise Christian taste and modesty on these days. Penalties - Students who are in violation of the dress code will receive demerits, will be required to correct the violation, and may be assigned to an in-school suspension. now with that said, my own personal style is well, a little bit gothic emo, scene, girl gamer, anime nerd, To Write Love On Her Arms obsessed... but nothing really extreme, just all of that at the same time... How can i still dress like myself while following the dress code???? more

Resolved Question: Mexican Drug Cartel Warns Police Officers in Arizona Border Town to 'Look the Other Way' What say you ?

Police officers in a small Arizona border city are on heightened alert following a tip that a Mexican drug cartel will put them in its crosshairs if they conduct off-duty busts. The threat stems from a marijuana seizure made this month by two off-duty police officers riding on horseback in an unincorporated area east of Nogales, a city of roughly 20,000, Police Chief Jeffrey Kirkham told FoxNews.com. "The word was that these particular officers would be targeted if they were ever in that area again and were not on duty and intercepted any drug trafficking," Kirkham said. "It said they should look the other way." The unidentified officers were able to confiscate roughly 400 pounds of marijuana during the seizure in early June at a known smuggling corridor along the U.S.-Mexican border where there is "relatively no fencing," Kirkham said. No arrests were made, and the smugglers were able to retreat into Mexico. Kirkham said his department, which employs 62 officers, learned about the threat through informants and has been unable to determine which Mexican drug cartel is behind it. Kirkham noted that two drug trafficking organizations -- the Los Zetas and the Sinaloa Cartel -- are currently trying to gain a foothold in the Nogales area. "Which one, we can't establish," he said. "They're not ones to advertise who's behind this. It's difficult to establish." In response to the threat, Kirkham said everyone in the department was advised to be armed while off-duty. Officials at the Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also were notified, he said. "We let them know that if they are to go out there, they are to be armed," Kirkham said. George Grayson, a professor at The College of William & Mary who specializes in Mexican politics and international affairs, said the threat likely came from the Sinaloa Cartel, which is headed by Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman-Loera, who is being sought by American and Mexican authorities. The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest. "This is quite credible that the cartels would threaten police officers, on-duty or off-duty," Grayson told FoxNews.com. "They, in fact, are more likely to threaten local police than to go after the [Drug Enforcement Agency] or FBI, which really raises hackles in Washington when you have your federal law enforcement agents threatened." The Los Zetas criminal organization -- a rival of the Sinaloa Cartel -- had previously operated in the Nogales area, Grayson said, but the area is now probably controlled by "El Chapo," which is Spanish for "shorty." Grayson said Sinaloa is believed to be one of the biggest suppliers of cocaine to the United States, and its members are known to be well-trained and well-armed. "These officers should get medals for bravery, either on- or off-duty, because I doubt they have the firepower these cartels have," he said. "It's logical that as there are episodes involving U.S. law enforcement [with Mexican cartels], that the threats against American police officers at various levels will also increase."http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/06/22/mexican-cartel-threatens-target-officers-arizona-border-town/ more

Voting Question: So, my mom dosent trust me...?

ok, so one of my old friends told her mom who told my mom that a bunch of my new friends are out drinking "special lemonade" and passing out on the floor, while someone else took pictures of this whole event, putting it on facebook. My mom has not seen these pictures, but completely believes the other mom. My new friends, yeah they're not "hey lets go sit on a rainbow pony and never grow up" like my old friends STILL are, but my mom thinks that these new kids sleep around and drink and do bad things like drugs and are crude to no end. It turns out that the WHOLE "special lemonade" thing was a COMPLETE joke, and ended up being simply extremely sugary lemonade, and they decided to be stupid teenagers and advertise it out of context on facebook, not making it clear that it WAS a JOKE. -btw the lemonade was made by the girls MOTHER- But when i told my mom this, she thinks that i am just flat out lying to her!!! so she thinks that my friends lied to me, OR she thinks that i came up with this "lie" WITH my new friends who are just trying to pull something over her head. How do I convince her that she needs to trust me and my new friends, and to make her see that that whole lemonade thing was a joke?!?!?!?! she thinks im hanging out with a group of "bad kids" now, but i love them, and I want my mom to love them to so we can have some form of any kind of loving relationship... Ok so I live in Michigan and most fireworks are illegal here... however today I got an ad in the mail from a fireworks showroom in Ohio (legal there) advertising their fireworks... isn't that technically illegal??? I mean that's sort of like drug dealers sending pamphlets to buy crack... so, is it illegal or not?it is illegal to buy or sell fireworks in Michigan... but I guess now that I think about it, this would follow the interstate commerce rules and not Michigan laws, so yeah I guess it makes sense... nvm more

Resolved Question: What if Obama were to nationalize pharmaceutical companies?

Along with his endeavors to nationalize the finance, health, and auto industries, I think he would do well to work on drug companies. The industry claims prices are so high because of research costs. But any of you who have ever worked in a hospital or doctor's office or clinic know what waste the drug companies expend on freebies, including lunches and dinners out for whole departments. It all comes under advertising. If the pharmaceutical companies did not spend so much on advertising-- tv, magazines, radio, billboards, promo items, etc.-- drug costs would come down significantly.Do they even need to advertise? The only people who need to be kept up to date on new meds are doctors. Anyone can search online for interactions and applications and counterindications.TV and magazine ads just create more hypochondriacs daily. Exactly what the drug companies want.Look around your doctor's office next time and see all the free gizmos you pay for. more

Resolved Question: Why are people against smoking Marijuana?

I myself have smoked before, however I have not touched weed in about 6 months give or take. When I smoked I would go from a week long binge to having a dry spell for a couple of weeks. I smoked for a total of about 2 years and I never had any issues with my responsibilities, like school for example. I actually kept a 3.6 GPA and I never tried any other drugs except drinking. So, personally I find no issues with marijuana unlike what many people will tell you (It makes you stupid. It leads to harder drugs. It takes over your life. It's addictive.). Now I will rant. Ok, so I know it's addictive. I'm not going to deny that. However, it's certainly less addictive than something like cocaine or even caffeine. And yes, caffeine will cause withdrawal symptoms not unlike nicotine withdrawal. While marijuana can cause psychological dependence, marijuana does NOT have any physical withdrawal symptoms. I had absolutely no issue when I quit, and I only wanted to smoke for about the first week. After the first week I have no longer felt any desire to smoke up, except for the fact that I occasionally just want to wind down and enjoy myself on a joint. Now, the government has a completely legalized industry for alcohol, which by the way messes you up MUCH more than marijuana. And I know that you people who have never tried marijuana often find this very difficult to believe, but just ask your self this. Have you ever seen somebody get so high that they were too dizzy to stand up and walk straight? Have you ever seen somebody smoke up and then puke their guts out all night from weed poisoning? No and no. marijuana will simply chill somebody out or get their heart racing. It depends on the strain, but in either case, nobody is overdosing or seeing double. That's saved for the completely legal alcoholic drinks that are advertised all over the television. Also, marijuana has never killed anyone. And I mean anyone. Of course, you can say that people will get into their cars and crash, but have you ever thought of how people get into their cars and crash all of the time, while they're completely sober? Besides, there are studies that have shown marijuana usually makes somebody a more cautious driver and getting high is equal to about a .05 BAC (.08 is the legal limit for alcohol). Now, I'm sure that some mom is going to come on here and talk about how because of weed their kid does heroin or whatever. I don't know how this myth got started, but I believe the number is something like only 1 out of every 30-40 people who have tried marijuana will go on to use any other illegal substance. And from my own experience, the only people who actually went on to use heroin or coke actually talked about that BEFORE they ever tried marijuana. No joke. Most people understand the consequences of hard drugs and see what it can do to a person's life, and so they stay away. It's that simple. I think that my favorite myth is that marijuana makes you stupid. Right. How about you go tell that to my formerly A.P. student friends (now off to college) which would get SAT scores up in the 2000s. Yea if that isn't proof enough right there, here's something else for you. Marijuana has not been proven to kill any brain cells. In fact, studies have shown that it actually STIMULATES brain cell growth. I **** you not. It only takes a quick Google search. Now when people say that marjuana will take over your life, I believe that they must be referring to the far and in between cases where people actually did let marijuana take over their life. What those same people don't realize though is that they probably know loads of people that smoke weed, or have smoked weed, but that never let it take over their life. The thing is though is that you will never hear about it because that's just not something you would talk about with a co-worker or a neighbor. Most functioning people can handle smoking a little bit of marijuana once in a while, the SAME WAY people can have a beer or a glass of wine every once in a while. Now, my final point, which is probably my most important is, what has a marijuana user ever done to you? Nothing, that's what. And it's because somebody who smokes weed is not going to need it like somebody who snorts coke. It's just not in any way addictive like that. Nobody is going to mug somebody else because they're killing for a nickle ($5 dollars worth of weed). However, you probably could get mugged by somebody because they need their fix of crack. In my eyes, people who reject marijuana users are just plain tools that they think they have a duty to protect a society that knows more than them. If you people want my advice, go educate yourself and stop letting yourself be influenced by all of that propaganda you thought was the truth. You really said health concerns? Really? Obviously completely ignored my post. And yea I'm sure it way to painful for you to try and read something about a plant that is in the process of getting LEGALIZED. Prick.Oh and I don't care if you don't feel like reading my super-post just so long as you don't say something as stupid as "health concerns?"to Kris, I don't know what that guy was smoking, but it wasn't weed, I can tell you that. Not even mushies would made you suddenly come down to find yourself surrounded by guns. Sounds more like he was smoking some wet, which is weed dipped in PCP. more

What are some problems with companies having so much advertising for their prescription drugs? i can think of a few, like not enough time devoted to risks, and more money being spent on advertising than the medicine, but what are more that you can think of? thanks a ton more

Resolved Question: Do you think physicians make decisions on which new drugs to prescribe based on drug company advertising?

Drug companies spend more than2x as much on drug marketing as they do on drug research and development. The FDA sets standards for research but these standards are limited. Remember Vioxx? Truth is that drugs are 'approved' by the FDA, 'put out there' and then we human patients become the guinea pigs to determine if these drugs are 'safe.' Do doctors prescribe you drugs based on drug company advertising? Or on their own personal research? more
