Open Question: Olympic Charter Violation?

some advise on following issue wanted! Can a friend of mine wear some of accessories which my company produces during the Olympic game in London 2012? 1) we are producing and selling the products, 2) we would like her to advertise our company, 3) she is going to wear our products during the games, 4) we are going to sell those on our official internet site during the games. 5) And we would very much to like use her picture in the Olympic game and the slogan “the earrings which Jennifer wears in Olympic 2012”. The reason why we ask this kind of question is, that our budget is far low than what official contract with IOC demands. But as you know, Olympic game is the best opportunity for advertisement. So if there’s no problem, we would like to execute our project as soon as possible. I would appreciate if you could give us some advise on the subject. Thanx more

Resolved Question: Help!! With my english assigment... it sounds so stupid!?

Well, i have an assignment to deconstruct an print ad, and i have all the details but it always sounds so stupid when i write it in paragraphs... feedback?? opinions?? help?? Target Audience The Forevermark advertisement adopts numerous ideologies in order to sell their products to their selected target audience. As this company more often than not targets women as their merchandise is deigned for females this advertisement is out to break the trend. This advertisement in particular the company takes a different approach by targeting males. Originally the producer of the However, the advertisement doesn’t just target any old man, but more specifically the advertisement targets wealthy males. Therefore the advertisement is specifically targeting upper class males with a high income. One of the ideologies adopted is the assumed that wealthy people are the only people in today’s society the have the opportunities to be happy and trouble free. This is due to the fact that all of the products from the Forevermark Company are expensive. However, the price assumption is a gap filled by the viewer right from the moment the audience see the diamond bracelet displayed at the top of the advertisement. Men who want to please their partner and bring romance back into their relationship would be attracted to this advertisement. Forevermark has adapted this advertisement so that it targets married males who may have any issues with their partner. In a way the advertisement relates back traditional family ideologies, as it assumed that the husband goes off to work, and therefore has the money to be able to spoil his partner. Therefore it’s also assumed that it’s the male’s responsibility to please the females and furthermore resolve any relationship issues. Invited Reading The Foverevermark advertisement targets men and has many different meanings behind it. The advertisement portrays many subconscious messages to the viewer without them even realising. Just by looking at the advert the obvious invited reading is “this product is produced to make your partner/ wife appreciate you again”. This is represented by the slogan saying "Hey, what do you know, she thinks your funny again". Thus implying that the solitary way to please her is to purchase their product. The producer of the advertisement is also trying to convey the message that their product is what every women wants and that this will make them happy no matter what the circumstances. To appeal to the viewer the advertisement relates back to idea wealthy people are the only people who have the opportunity to be happy and trouble free. Visual Techniques Appealing to men through an advertisement with lots of details is a difficult undertaking as most men would be more interested in something simple in comparison to females who would rather the opposite. In order to fulfil the objective of targeting these men the producer of the advertisement has used many visual techniques. The advertisement is set out as a single visual with a plain black background, with only a thing white border. Using the plain black and white background the producer was targeting the selected audience. All the text is set out in bold, centred, capitalised text. A single underline is also under the text. The single picture of the diamond bracelet at the top of the page isn’t directly appealing to the men but rather just displaying the product. The plain blacks and whites may appeal to some men as if they are business men as the colours used are set out to appear professional. At the bottom of the advertisement, just above the border, the company’s slogan and logo are displayed in slightly smaller text however still follows the trend of being white and bold. Language Techniques The language featuring in the Fovevermark advertisement is the substantial catch phrase which is found at in the centre. The catch phrases states Hey, what do you know, she thinks your funny again". The way this catch phrase intrigues the selected target audience is through humour. As the advertisement is targeted at men the humour used in the catch phrase is more appealing to men as they will be more likely to appreciate the joke and therefore become intrigued in the advertisement. Men over women are more likely to respond to a humorous advertisement and that is why the producer has made the main focus humorous. Wit humour therefore is the main language technique used. The only other language used is the company’s slogan which is displayed at the bottom of the advertisement with the logo. It states “A diamond is forever”. Subliminal messages are conveyed from this slogan. The slogan is basically conveying the message that if their product is bought then the couple’s relationship will last forever just as the diamond will. This created desire for the product. Gaps and Silences The two main silences in the advertisement are the women’s point of view and middle class people. This advertiseme more

Voting Question: What does this mean? Besides that I obviously don't like Dawkins.?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2392002/posts?page=4 Children on atheist billboards 'are actually Evangelical Christians' (UK) The Telegraph ^ | 11/21/2009 | Matthew More Posted on Sunday, November 22, 2009 10:01:57 AM by markomalley Two smiling child models featured on an atheist billboard are actually Evangelical Christians, it has been claimed. The boy and girl can currently be seen next to the slogan "Don't Label Me" on adverts funded by the British Humanist Association (BHA) and endorsed by Prof Richard Dawkins, the scientist and prominent atheist. The posters form part of a campaign urging parents not to define their children by their own faith, which some secularists claim amounts to an abuse of their human rights. But the campaign appears to have backfired after a Christian community leader said that the models pictured in the poster were from a family of committed Christians whose images had been taken from a stock photo. "Here they are promoting atheism and the two children have been brought up in a Christian family," said Gerald Coates, leader of the Pioneer Network of Churches. (snip) "The message of the posters is that the labelling of children by their parents' religion is not respectful of the rights of the child – we are not suggesting that children would be happier brought up in a humanist environment," she said. The adverts, which are a follow-up to the atheist adverts that appeared on London buses earlier this year, appear in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast and London. (Excerpt) Read more at telegraph.co.uk ... Then there's this Douchebag who writes: It boggles the mind as to how Gledhill managed to come to the conclusion that this is the “perfect advertisement for the new atheism being promoted”. Come on Ruth! In the same sentence you describe the adverts as “new atheism”, you wrote the slogan of the campaign: “Please don’t label me. Let me grow up and choose for myself”. Tell me, how on earth does that slogan have anything to do with belief or disbelief in God? http://atheistblogger.com/2009/11/23/the-children-of-the-new-bha-billboards-are-not-christian/ Maybe that's because Ruth Gledhill is an employed Correspondent and he's just some douchey blogger from "The Atheist Blogger," tacky name. Either way, I had a good laugh. Before you bitch, Atheism is political in nature. more

Resolved Question: Need CATCHY slogan for school...What's YOUR idea?

The school I work for (we'll call it "CPT"--which is CLOSE to the real name which has three letters that all rhyme with "CPT") is looking for a new slogan to be used in advertisements. The person who submits the "winning" slogan gets a $50 gift card and bragging rights. I know, no big deal. I also know YOU might be thinking, "So WHAT'S in it for me?" Well, actually nothing except BEST ANSWER. Not sure if Yahoo Answers allows this, but IF they do, I'll share. HONEST. Resolved Question: John McCains Wife, Appears in Pro Gay-marriage advertisements?

John McCain's staunch opposition to gay marriage was one of the key parts of his presidential campaign. But it has become clear this was not supported in his own household. His daughter, Meghan, is a vocal advocate of gay rights. Now his wife, Cindy, has appeared in a poster campaign against California's proposition 8 – a law banning same-sex marriage. The move has shocked and delighted gay rights campaigners and led to questions about the state of the McCains' own marriage. Cindy McCain appears in the poster with silver duct tape across her mouth and the campaign slogan, "NOH8", marked on her cheek. "Aligning yourself with the platform of gay marriage as a Republican still tends to be very stigmatic, but Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn't matter." http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/blog/2010/jan/21/cindy-mccain-noh8-gay-marriage THAT WOMAN IS RUINING REPUBLICANS! Imagine if John McCain won the election, she would be the First Lady. And she's the absolute opposite of Republicans, and she's married to one? And that photo!!! What do you think? As a Christian, I oppose same-sex marriage. I don't know if I can vote Republican anymore though. Are there anymore far-right Christian groups? more
