Hey Yahoo! users! How effective do you think it would be to use a 2010 Chevy Camaro for advertisement purposes? My beef with traditional TV commercials is that so many people record shows and fast-forward through commercials, or just change channels when commercials come on. So, companies are spending money on advertisements that aren't even being seen! But what if the advertisement was presented in a way that people *wanted* to look at it, i.e. a flashy car such as a Camaro? I myself always gawk when I see a Camaro on the road or in a parking lot, and as far as I can tell, so does pretty much every other guy (and some girls). To me, it seems like the Camaro would be a perfect means for advertisements. People already look at the car, so painting it in corporate colors and using catchy slogans would expose the company to many people. Plus, the Camaro is cheap (relatively) compared to commercials: 30,000 compared to (potentially) millions. Anyways, that's my thoughts on the matter? What do YOU think? Resolved Question: What's the story behind this 7-Up slogan "Your Fresh Up"?

I have an old 7-up sign that's very similar to this one: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3374/3591255367_69c44c6422_o.jpg ... except that my sign has square edges, is very large (about 3½' x 5'). The major difference, however, is the slogan. Instead of saying "'Fresh up' with 7-Up" mine says "Your 'Fresh Up!'" I've been told that the slogan on my sign (Your Fresh Up!) makes it incredibly rare. Is this true? What I've been told is that from 1936 until 1952, the 7-Up slogan was "The Fresh Up Family Drink," and that the company decided to shorten the slogan in late 1947 to "Your Fresh Up" (my sign). Back then folks were very conservative, and felt the slogan was too close to "Up Yours" which made a campaign in 1999 ("Make 7-Up Yours"). The company quickly decided to drop "your" from the slogan and make it "Fresh Up" which you see much more commonly in older signs, like the one in the photo I posted. This is what I've been told, but I can't verify this information and I don't know if it's true or just here-say. I've looked through all kinds of old collector soda advertisement books (in which there are TONS of 7-Up signs) and I can never find ANY signs that say "Your Fresh up!" like mine. I've also looked all over the internet, and can't find any photos of signs that have my slogan ... I only find signs that have the updated slogan. So what I'm wondering is, what is the actual history of this slogan (Your Fresh Up!), and how rare is my sign? more

Voting Question: Sexualised Stereotyping Slogans?

Ok here's the delio: I have to do a seminar for an assignment at school. The subject I was given was to discuss sexualised stereotyping and I'm approaching it from the point of view that there is nothing wrong with it. Part of the assignment is to create an advertisement, I have created one on photoshop. It is a photo of a pretty lady selling perfume and next to her is an old, weird guy selling the same perfume. I need to get the message across that of course people are going to buy it off the stereotyped lady as opposed to the creepy man. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for slogans/tag lines?? The hair product L'anza works in several different ways to promote the product to its target audience of young women between the ages of 18 and 25. Firstly, the colour red in the background suggests seductiveness and lustfulness. This is a common technique used in advertisements today. I believe the advertisers wanted the target audience to feel as though if they bought this product, they would then appear to be sexually appealing to men, in which this day and age is classed as something to be proud of. This interlinks with lustfulness as the man would have longing sexual desires for the woman using this product. I think this is a powerful technique that was used because toying with a woman's ability of being attractive to men leads the woman to become frantic and self doubt will overcome them as they want to appear as being attractive to men, thus going to great lengths to become that. The model in this advertisement was given a makeover in which makes her facial features look prim and perfect, giving her the look in which every women desires to look like. The lip gloss that has been applied onto the lips gives somewhat of a strong statement, as if stating to buy the product, applying pressure onto the viewer of the advertisement to buy the product. Pressure is mounted onto buying the product by the slogan “Be part of the new generation”. It is as if it is enforcing the “fact” that if you buy this product then you would be part of this supposed “new generation” where everyone looks perfect and works vice versa for those who do not buy the product. I think this slogan should be altered all together as people out there who desperately want to fit in may have been given false hope as they might be ridiculed for the new look. Could you improve it? more
