Open Question: A hidden world, growing beyond control?
The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.
These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.
The investigation's other findings include:
* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.
* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.
* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings - about 17 million square feet of space.

moreOpen Question: How do I build muscle quickly?
I'm an 18 year old and male I had an interview with a top modeling agency today. They told me that I had a great look, however I should put on some muscle and come back to them in a months time. I was wondering what the best ways would be to do this? I am already quite lean and at 6 2' have slight muscle definition from doing virtually nothing, so I figure this is a reasonable goal to attain? I am not looking to add mass amounts of muscle, rather 10-15 pounds.
I would appreciate if your going to reply, do so with a quality answer!

moreOpen Question: Credit matters more when seeking best car deals ?
Lenders eager to provide money for car loans, but cautious still about customer credit
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- It's getting easier to get a car loan.
"A couple of months ago, it was horrible," says George Magliano, an automotive research analyst with IHS Global Insight. "The least blemish on your credit report and you got nothing."
The loan approval rate for customers with the highest credit scores was 90 percent in June after sliding to 70 percent in late 2008 during the recession. It's this group that's taking advantage of the widely advertised zero-percent financing deals.
For the majority of consumers with middle-tier credit, in the range of 620 to 750, loan approvals jumped 12 percentage points in the past year to above 82 percent, says CNW Marketing Research of Brandon, Ore. Plenty of banks are eager to make deals.
And now, even those with poor credit scores are getting a break.
Historically, the approval rate for subprime borrowers -- those with scores below 620 -- ran about 60 percent. Last year, the rate fell to 5 percent. Now, it's running at 9 percent.
Subprime borrowers still need to make a sizable downpayment and will pay interest of 10 percent or more, but car buyers with poor credit make up a big chunk of the market.
About 17 percent of all the auto loans written for new car buyers in the first quarter were to customers with below-prime credit. This same group obtained 53 percent of the loans for used cars, according to the credit reporting agency Experian.
Selling more cars is vital to an economic recovery. The auto industry accounts for around 3 to 5 percent of the nation's gross domestic product and about 16 percent of all durable goods shipments. Better access to credit is an important step to selling more cars and helping an industry that has seen 250,000 jobs disappear in the past three years. Nearly 830,000 auto-related jobs still exist in the U.S.
It helps that interest rates are falling. The average rate for a four-year car loan this month is 6.3 percent, down from 7.2 percent a year ago, according to Bankrate.com.
There's another sign of a reawakening car credit market: Lenders are expanding.
One of the largest subprime auto lenders, AmeriCredit Corp., expanded the number of auto dealers it works with to more than 8,000 in the first quarter of this year -- up from 4,500 a year ago.
"That's a sign that they're willing to tick up their lending; they're feeling a lot better about the trends," says Meghan Neenan, an analyst for Fitch Ratings.
Some lenders want customers to make larger down payments or bring in a more valuable trade-in to increase chances of loan repayment, says Keith Leggett, a senior economist at the American Bankers Association.
Others, including local and regional banks have relaxed car loan terms. SunTrust banks, for example, are extending the term of the loan, allow customers to borrow a higher percentage of the car's value and will more readily negotiate on a down payment, says Jeff Hooper, consumer lending manager for SunTrust. Many local banks are looking for new sources of revenue after losing money on commercial real estate loans.
What's more, General Motors' top North American executive Mark Reuss has said the company wants to boost sales to subprime customers, which currently amount to just 1 percent of annual sales.
GM said last month it is developing additional relationships with other financial sources to boost subprime lending.
It's likely incentives will continue to pump up auto sales and lenders will continue to expand their business, but not without a close eye on trends that might show the economy slipping backward.
"Everyone's being kind of cautious still because they're afraid of a double-dip recession and unemployment is still high," says Neenan, the Fitch analyst.

Winner: Pat Riley

Loser: Lebron, Dwyane, and Bosh
-Can they fit together? Will they still be friends at the end of the season? PPG will drop by 5 for each of them. Will they like it?
Winner: Chicago Bulls
-No one to challenge them in the Central Division now.
Loser: Boozer
-Sure is going to a great team, but his son's in a hospital in Miami. Was wishing he would go there, to be with his son.
Winner: Eric Spoltra
-Still the coach
Loser: NBA
- No true NBA fan (Not counting Heat fans) wanted him to go to Miami. They want the top teams to be the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, and Bulls. And The "Decision" was an embarassment to the league. Say where your going on your site, then make a press conference. Not an hour long, snore fest. And then you say Miami. Then in your interview with Wilbon you look like you just thought " Oh shit! Am I Jordan or Pippen? What If I become the Kukoc or Paxson?!?!?!"
Winner: Undrafted Picks
- Go to Miami and be a 6th man, go to any where else be a 10th or 11th man.
Loser: Lebron
-I'm sorry Heat fans, I just don't see how the chemistry works! Celtics did it but they were all in mid-lower 30's who only wanted a ring. But can we really believe, that Lebron will like being the Pippen of the team? Or will Bosh like being the Rodman or Armstrong of the team? Don't see them winning a ring together, but I do think Lebron leaves in 2013 and Wade and Bosh stay, and contend for a Championship!
Winner: 2nd Tier Players
-People like Reddick and Childress will get way overpaird now that the likes of James, Wade, and Bosh are all in Miami. (Gooden, Milicic, Amir, Frye)
Loser: Nets
-Biggest loser, have signed no one.
Winner: Knicks

Winner: Lebrons wife and children

Loser: Lebrons Mom, and other family in Cleveland.
-Get to have people give them snobby looks while trying to buy food.
Winner/Loser: Bucks
-Got quality players, but overpaid quality players. Will keep in contention with the Bulls for the top spot in the Central, but I don't see that team full of players who could be a 6th man on everyteam. (Save Jennings and Redd. Bogut Maybe)
Winner: Stephen A. Smith and Chris Broussard
-Smith was the first one to definitely put his name and reputation on the Miami Splice route. He’s stuck to his report for the last week and he comes out as a reborn information king. It’s quite the transformation after ESPN and the Philly media kicked him to the curb. He’s a star again on FOX Sports Radio and a trusted reporter once more. Broussard went from the second fiddle guy to The Man in this process. He’s been on the World Wide Leader for 15 hours a day pushing information,
Loser: Ric Bucher
-Before the John Clayon of the NBA. Now is the Dan Lebetard if everything else
Winner: Rudy Gay
-Good not $16 Mill good
Loser: Dan Gilbert
Looked like a baby, although I agree Lebron quit. Another reason I don't see the Heat playing well. Wade is a hard working man that wants to win. Lebron shoots full court shots before a game, and is a sore loser.Wow 3 Kings? Bandwagon jumper!

moreVoting Question: How would you interpret this from an agent?
Basically, I recently sent off book proposals to four agencies and two of them have gotten back to me within two weeks. The first was a rejected one, however the second seems to be bright but I can't interpret it completely. It says "Please send hard copy" below that is there address and then below that is where it says the specific agent is voted top 10 within the UK and it appears my email was forwarded to someone within the company. Does this sound like they have read my query letter, synopsis and sample chapters and enjoyed them? Or am I reading to much into it? Because I feel I am getting false hopes and feeling to happy over nothing. I feel like I have passed the first stage of getting an agent, yet I feel like I am just thinking to much into it. I was getting happy because this agency works closely with a major publishing business and the people she has forwarded the email too is a bit of a surprise to me.
Sorry for the rambling, but I am extremely nervous because this is my first novel and this is the first time I have attempted to get an agent. I have heard of many talented writers getting rejected constanly so this is just a shock to my system, I feel its to good to be true because I am a first timer getting agents interested on my first try. Pleas any information or opinions will be dearly appreciated, I just want clearence on this matter and help from experienced writers if possible, thank you for your time.Yea they were on writersandartists yearbook, also the agency is a legit company that owns a publishing business too. I myself was curious about their email too and if they were a scam or not.
moreResolved Question: Do you think it will be funny if New York ruins their future once again like early 2000's?
They already gave Amare a max deal for a guy who has had microfacture surgery and can't rebound and play Defense.
Also it seems Lebron is more likely to be a Cav, Nets, Bull, or Heat more than a Knick and they have been reports of being looking at Boozer.
With Lee who feels disrespected and will leave and the fact that Durant, Anthony may not be available next year in free agency if they resign, I see the Knicks doing what they have known to do and possibly give Boozer a max deal and that would ruin their future. Because Boozer has been banged up, has problems defending longer forwards, and is not a top 10 player and they probably won't get another max player.

What do you think of my writing? Should I have been accepted by Bleacher Report?
I am 15 and submitted this piece to Bleacher Report... They declined it... Forget about weather you agree or disagree with the article, just should I have been accepted?
Carl Crawford Suitors
With many teams beginning (or already knowing) weather they will be buyers or sellers come July 31st and even November 10th, it is time to begin speculating on what teams will sign who. It is being heavily overshadowed by the NBA right now, but baseball has a very impressive crop of talent going into the free agent market.
From Cliff Lee to Carlos Pena, teams will be vying for the little push that's the difference between contending... and rebuilding.
This particular article is about one of the biggest free agent question marks, Carl Crawford. There are many (as in all) teams that could use his lefty bat, his .300 average, his 20 home runs, and of course his 60 stolen bases, but only 1 team can come away with him.
Tampa Bay Rays
As with any free agent, the former team is a good possibility. The player has his home there, he knows his team mates, and in Crawford's case has been there since he was 18 years old. A good chunk of life...
Unfortunately for Tampa, baseball is business more now than ever, and Tampa just can't cover what his bill will be. His constant production is worth more than $10 million per year, and Tampa can't afford much more than that. Crawford and his agent will be probably looking in the ballpark of a 6 year - $90 million contract... That would be approximately 20% of the teams payroll! As a comparison Alex Rodriguez is 15% of the Yankees payroll and Albert Pujols is about 16%... That's pretty tough for a young Rays team to do.
Not to mention the Rays youth! they have Desmond Jennings just waiting to take over when Crawford leaves. It is sad for Tampa to do, but they must say good bye to Crawford and try their best to keep Carlos Pena.
New York Yankees
The team that knows most about business in the majors is, as always, the New York Yankees. It seems that since the Rays first executed their 2010 option of Crawford, the Yankees have been the top contender to get him for themselves.
Except a problem arose... They have a prospect who's performing in the majors. Brett Gardner wasn't really expected to have to perform too well. Just well enough for the process of the Yankees bringing up good prospects, making them great, and then trading them for solid talent to continue... But he's performing great! It may not seem like it, but even Brian Cashman likes to save money when he can...
And when he weighs his options this off season, he can have either Brett Gardner for 1-2 million per year, or Crawford (who is producing similar numbers) for 15 million, I think I know the way he'll go.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves have been looking for an outfield bat to match with Heyward and McClouth for a while. They were in the Johnny Damon sweepstakes for a while, but ending up 'settling' with Matt Diaz and Melky Cabrera. The Braves will definitely be in a spot to contend for Crawford next year with a payroll at 15th in the majors, but have the Braves ever gone for a major name free agent? I'm researching it, and the biggest name they acquired from free agency is Billy Wagner, the 38 year old that has already blown 3 saves....
In a way, that's a compliment. The Braves don't need to get free agents, they have people in their farm system that get the job done... But in the Crawford sweepstakes it gives them a lower stance. I expect them to sign someone like Johnny Damon in 2011 free agency.
Detroit Tigers
Then you have the Tigers... The Tigers have a very interesting situation in left field, where Johnny Damon, an overpriced 2010 free agent, is taking most of the starts there. Will the Tigers really get him back for another below average year? I doubt it.
It's obvious that neither Carlos Guillen nor Ryan Raburn can provide any defense in left field and if you were to put Brennan Boesch in left and Magglio Ordonez in right, can you really depend on Raburn as a DH?
The Tigers are cutting A LOT of money they wasted this year. Johnny Damon's 8 million, Jeremy Bonderman's 12.5 million, and Brandon Inge's 6 million dollar contracts are up and Bonderman and Inge will be resigned for half (or less) of what they made. Magglio Ordonez's ridiculous contract will more than likely vest again for a hideous $15 million, but it is an outfielder you need.
When all is said and done with expiring contracts you will have a payroll of about $80 million... Room enough for an extra hitter. Crawford's expected contract would bring the payroll to $95 million. STILL a decrease of almost 40 million dollars from 2010 Opening Day...... Wow.
Dave Dombrowski and Mike Illitch have shown they aren't afraid to buy the bats (Damon, Cabrera, Ordon

Loaned someone that I thought was a good friend (over 10 years of being as close as "sisters") a few years back over $3000. Her house was being foreclosed on and she couldn't pay a few bills to keep her business from home going. She promised to pay me back as soon as she could and silly me, I thought she was good for it.
Its been over 3 years and she's only made one small payment. Since then she picked some stupid fights, has treated me badly, come up wirth some crazy justifications as to why she doesn't owe me the money anymore and I finally said enough and told her I want my money back, especially since we really need it now! She's working and managed to find a way to stay in her house without having to make a payment in the last 2 years, so I don't understand why she hasn't been able to pay me back. It seems that she has no intention and may never have had, regardless of the fact that she's said she does. (Actions are louder than words). She keeps insisting that she'll pay me when she has all of it, instead of making payments, which I told her I was okay with her making payments, anything right now would help us. On top of all that every few months she says she'll have my money by "x" date and when the deadline comes she has some excuse for why she doesn't have it or just ignores me altogether. I'm tired of all this! Its too much money to walk away from. I want my money and to be done with this low life leech who would throw away a good friend over money!
I've spoken to a lawyer and was advised to sue her. Problem is, we no longer live in the same state and I researched it, if I want to sue her in small claims (I saved all the records of how much money I gave her and all her emails promising me money) I have to travel to the state she lives in and of course we don't have the money for that. Yes I can add the expense to the suit but still don't have it up front. I can hire a lawyer and have them do it but same money problem right now holds. I can hire a collection agency but have to have a judgement first. I'm beyond frustrated as it seems that if I want my money back, I'm going to have to spend money I don't have to get my money back.
Does anyone have any other advice as to how I can compell this woman to honor her debt to me that doesn't involve a lot of money on my part? Sheriff Joe, a non-existent U.S. law and the next crime sweep
During the press conference on Oct. 6 reporters asked Arpaio what authority he would use to continue rounding up illegal immigrants on the streets. He said there are a couple of state laws that permit it and other federal statutes that provide that type of authority. He then passed out a document that he said was a federal law that allows his agency to “detain an individual for a brief warrantless interrogation where circumstances create a reasonable suspicion that the individual is illegally present in the U.S.”
The document Arpaio personally passed out at a press conference and said was federal statute can be found here: http://azcapitoltimes.com/wp-files/pdfs/section8.pdf
The document, at first glance, appeared to be taken from a section of U.S. Code. At the top of the page, it listed a title and chapter numbers, as well as references to subsections.
But about midway through the text, it outlined a set of circumstances that justify such “brief warrantless interrogations,” and that’s where things started to get odd. Here’s an excerpt: “Specific facts constituting a reasonable suspicion include evasive, nervous, or erratic behavior; dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship; and presence in an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens.”
Reporter Jeremy Duda brought the document to my attention, and both of us were a skeptical that the federal government would essentially grant authority to interrogate people on the basis of what they were wearing, or their speech patterns. One friend of mine jokingly asked whether a mariachi suit would justify questioning. And what about the reference to an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens? Could that be taken to mean Arizona in general?@ Hugo, where in my question does the race card come up?

LOL
http://dailycaller.com/2010/06/08/deficit-reduction-commission-solves-own-deficit-problem-with-white-house-bailout/
Less than two weeks ago, a blue-ribbon commission charged with solving the nation’s staggering national debt seemed, like the country itself, to be running out of money.
Senate majority leader Harry Reid indicated in a May 28 letter that the commission had complained to him about inadequate resources. Commission members griped they didn’t have enough money to hold hearings around the country, according to a report by Tax Analysts, a non-profit website.
But now the commission’s executive director, Bruce Reed, says its budget issues have been resolved, thanks to help from the White House. Reed, a former top aide to then-President Bill Clinton, says the administration dispatched 10-15 aides from the Treasury Department and several other agencies to meet the commission’s needs.
“We’ve got all the people we can handle,” Reed told the Daily Caller. “It’s plenty!” he said about the commission’s $500,000 budget.
Reed also said there were other reasons besides insufficient funds the commission couldn’t hold hearings around the country. “That’s not really an option for us anyway,” Reed explained, noting the looming Dec. 1 deadline for the commission’s recommendations and that most of the commission members are busy in Washington tending to their jobs in Congress.
While the commission, whose mission is to reduce the deficit, was trying to quickly disabuse the idea it was seeking more money, some Republicans were jumping on the issue to paint the President’s team of fiscal hawks as having budget woes of their own.
“Irony alert. Sometimes there are simply no words. If the Administration wants to reduce the deficit, let’s start cutting spending NOW,” one GOP aide said. This is about retarded. How can anybody feasibly still support anything the government does?

Delhi water crisis: Jats call off strike
TIMES NEWS NETWORK & AGENCIES, Jun 14, 2010, 11.55am IST

NEW DELHI/GHAZIABAD: Jat leaders demanding reservation in government jobs on Monday decided to call off their agitation and agreed to restore the water supply to Delhi from the Upper Ganga canal in Uttar Pradesh.
As per a deal reached with the government, a 10-member committee would look into Jat community's demand for providing reservation in government jobs.
Several areas across the national capital on Monday faced water crisis due to Jats’ agitation.
Almost all areas in south and east Delhi faced cut in water supply due to the agitation by local BKU and Lok Dal leaders in Muradnagar in Ghaziabad district.
A top Delhi government official said city government is in touch with their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh to restore water supply to the capital.
Two major water treatment plants, Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi, which get water from the Upper Ganga canal, could not function due to non-supply of water. They cater to 40 per cent water requirements of the city.
Leaders of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Sangarsh Samiti (ABJSS) had suspended the water supply from the Upper Ganga Canal in Muradnagar, 25 km from here, on Sunday night.
Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the agitation site where the protestors took away the keys of the waterworks and threw them into the canal.
District magistrate R Ramesh Kumar said that he has informed the UP and Delhi governments about the agitation.
ABJSS president chaudhry Yashpal Malik said his group was demanding reservation in higher education and employment in both public and private sectors and also amendment in the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, to ban same-gotra weddings in the Jat community.
Government had sent technicians to survey the waterworks but the protestors did not allow them to enter the area.
Irrigation department said that water supply to Delhi may remain suspended for two days as the waterworks would need some repairs. Water, once released, takes at least five hours to reach Delhi.
Malik threatened that if their demands were not met, they will stop the supply of milk, vegetables and other food items to the capital.
Meanwhile, a burst in a major pipeline in Haiderpur also resulted in water cut in Palam and other neighbouring areas.
The pipeline burst Sunday and Delhi Jal Board engineers were working to restore the water supply, a senior DJB official said.

moreResolved Question: Whose side are Eric Holder and John Morton on?
The nation's top immigration enforcement official vowed on Thursday to process many -- but not all -- of the illegal immigration cases referred to his agency by the state of Arizona, something he said his agency has continued to do even while federal attorneys wrangle over the Grand Canyon state's new immigration law.
"The truth of the matter is we do not have sufficient resources to identify, apprehend and remove every single person that's in this country unlawfully," John Morton, assistant secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said at a morning press conference. "So we'll continue to accept the referrals from the state of Arizona, just as we do today, but we will continue to make a decision on a case-by-case basis, in light of our resources and in light of our priorities."
Those remarks come three weeks after The Chicago Tribune reported he told editorial staff that "his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona officials." The Chicago Tribune did not offer an exact quote, and a subsequent email to the Chicago Tribune reporter seeking Morton's precise wording was not returned.
Republicans on Capitol Hill and others took issue with Morton's remarks, accusing ICE of changing its enforcement policy and "nullifying existing law."
The ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., told Fox News that Morton was "telegraphing to every ICE agency in America that they really don't intend on cooperating with Arizona." Rep. Candice Miller, R-Mich., a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, later told a top-ranking ICE official she was "rather stunned" by Morton's comments.
On Thursday, Morton insisted his agency did not change any policies after Arizona passed the controversial immigration law, which broadens the authority of local police by allowing them to ask suspected illegal immigrants for proof of immigration status and detain them if appropriate.
Morton said ICE would alter how it processes referrals only if a Justice Department review analyzing the legislation calls for such a move. The Justice Department is currently weighing whether to file a challenge to the legislation in federal court, with a decision coming "relatively soon," Attorney General Eric Holder said at Thursday's press conference.
"We'll wait to see what the attorney general and his team decides," Morton said. "In the meantime, we're not going to approach enforcement in Arizona any differently than we do now, which is on the merits and [within] the resources that we have."

moreResolved Question: Do you think three franchises that have best shot at Lebron are Cleveland, Chicago, and New Jersey?
I believe unless Cleveland were able to get Stoudemire or Bosh in a sign and trade he would probably leave.
I believe Chicago is a second option. However, only downside to that is he may be in Jordan shadows. However, it is the only team he can go to in free agency that could win next year especially considering that they are thinking of trading deng and hinrich for Bosh in a sign and trade.
I think the Nets is promising they have Brook Lopez who will be a top 2 center in the league in next 2-3 years, Devin Harris who is a top 10 point guard and will get better, Lee who is a good defender and can hit the three, and they will try to clear room to get a chance at landing both Bosh and Lebron.
While New York may allow Lebron to get most endorsements and money, I think it is less likely he will end up there than New Jersey and Chicago. Both these cities can probably give him 80% of what New York can give him in money and endorsements and a better chance to win and I still believe Lebron is more concerned with winning than making money so the idea of him going New York is false hope because even with Lebron and Bosh they won't be able to win a championship in the next 2-3 years because they dont have a good point guard, weak bench, no defensive Center, and a coach that have never been to the NBA finals.
moreResolved Question: How would you handle this?
OK - so I was laid off in February. It was a killer situation for me and my family. Finally, through word of mouth, I came across an unannounced position available, not as close to home as I would've liked, but not as far as it could've been either. I go to the interview, and received feedback from the friend of the friend who referred me to the position, that I was "too professional" during my interview, and that they wanted to schedule a second interview to be sure my personality would be a good fit for such a small group. Evidently they didn't need the second interview after checking my references, and offered me the job.
I couldn't believe it! After only four months of unemployment I was getting a new job...with a serious increase of pay. The company is very generous in its benefit program and the position I was hired for, I'd already received 10+ years prior experience...so I was ready!
I get in the door, and learn that NO ONE here knows what my position does. They know they're supposed to dump a bunch of stuff onto my desk, but no one can tell me how it should be done according to the company’s procedures. The person who was in my position last, was fired for not doing her work - but they ALL depended on her knowledge.
Since my first day I have received very little training on anything they do. I was given a manual that's supposed to help me within my position, but it was made by the last person in my position and I can clearly tell they didn't really want to put the manual together as it isn't any help at all.
On top of this, I try to be resourceful and ask others' for advice and I continue to hear repeatedly "I don't know, she used to do that". That's where they drop the ball! WHAT???? I was supposedly scheduled for some training on their software but still have heard nothing.
So the first week my boss and the rest of my small department were out of town on travel for the agency. They left me, ignorant to all, to answer calls and reply to email inquiries, all of which I don't know what I'm saying because there's no one I can ask for help!
While I do realize that I've got experience, and my references gave glowing remarks, I feel like the crappiest employee of all right now, for being so ignorant to what's going on here. I don't know any people here, I really don't like the area that I'm in, and I've never been thrown to the wolves at this capacity.
I've learned that there's also one person here who wanted my job and has decided to make things confusing for me, so she can have a good laugh. I'm getting yelled at by callers for not knowing what to say or where to find information from, I'm asking questions over and over and not getting anywhere with them. All I keep hearing is, "Oh I don't know. She used to do that".
NOT ACCEPTABLE.
I am so dang frustrated I am in tears! It has been a struggle every frikkin day I've been here and it's only been four weeks! I feel like people think I lied on my job application/resume. I don't feel as though I am achieving anything my boss asks of me. We chatted a few, on the record of course, and she thanked me for my patience and said she understood why I feel confused. I'm glad she does because I can't put a finger on anything here!!! And while that's nice, why not help me out a little????
It is simply driving me insane! I am trying to start each day fresh, without frustration, but apparently the person I replaced got dumped on a TON because I sure am! On top of this I am responsible for the workload of about three people and they're all looking to me for answers that I don't have!
I've run out of nice ways to say that they dumped me into a big azz bowl of spaghetti noodles and expected me to find ONE noodle, identical to the rest, but they have!
I am seeing that I really don’t like it here, not so much because I don't yet have a feel for my job, but mainly because of the people I am working with. I've never heard of a job where you can just say "I don't know" and drop the ball and that's it! Then when things go awry they want to come see me and interrogate until they can pinpoint that I am the error.
GRRRRRRRR! I need a job, I cannot afford to be without again. I want to look for a new job but am afraid of when to schedule interviews as I've not been here long enough to take off from work.
I don't want to seem ungrateful but I am not the type of employee who doesn't care about what's being put out. If my name is on it, I want it correct...and there's no way I can do that here ANYTIME soon. The way it looks right now, I'd have to be here at LEAST a year before I can feel any kind of confidence in my seat. WTF????
What in the hell would you do?MVD34 : thanks for reading that entire novel (Sorry - I didn't realize it was that long)...and thanks for your good advice too.
moreResolved Question: What is an FBI agents salary/benefits, how hard is it to become one, etc?
Im going to be a senior next year and need to start thinking about what i want to do with my life, ive recently been thinking about becoming an FBI agent, but i have a few questions. so far i have looked at the grade/step scale and learned that you start out at GS10 step one, you are paid that base salary plus the location percentage of base pay. then on top of that if you average 50 hours a week (availability pay) you get an additional 25% of base+locality. So you can possibly start out making 60k-70k/yr depending on location. then obviously higher steps/gs levels means more money. that is what i know so far, please correct me if i am wrong, now for the questions.
first, how hard is it to become an FBI agent? i know it is very selective, but what should i have/do to assure i get in? what should i major in (what are some of the top colleges for this major)? i currently have 20/10 corrected vision, am a 4.0 student, and train for wresting year round so am in good shape. does this mean i will have a good chance of getting in?
also, can i become an fbi agent right out of college? or do i have to be a cop first?
i know it take 1 year to raise first 3 steps then 2 and so on, but about how long would it take to become GS11, GS12, GS13?
how do the benefits stack up compared to other jobs, i know they will be pretty good because its a government agency, but how good compared to a standard non gov. job?
also i know you get to rank the locations that you would like to work at, but does that really mean anything, or do you pretty much get assigned wherever they want you? will i be forced to move a lot?
thank you for your time, if there is anything else you think i should know please tell me. please only answer if you know what your talking about, ie: work for the FBI, or have a friend or relative who does
moreResolved Question: Name your Top 10 NBA players who changed the game of basketball?
For me, those would be:
1. Michael Jordan: The greatest ever. From his skill to his heart. He will probably be the barometer of NBA players for years to come. Dominated the league in - and off -court. Made it more difficult for fans of opposing teams to boo than to cheer.
2. Julius Erving - NBA and ABA merger. Set the tone for the new school with his afro and flamboyant style of play --- taking the game above the rim. Opened the horizon of our imagination.
3. Magic Johnson/Larry Bird - no one would be as great without the other. Gave a new meaning to the word, "rivalry". Probably the top 2 reasons for the rise of the league during the 80's.
Magic: Showtime
Bird: Court Savvy
4. Bill Russell/ Wilt Chamberlain - see # 3, circa 1960's.
Russell: Eleven rings, ten fingers.. you do the math
The Stilt: 50+ points, 25+ rebounds assists; never fouling out in a game --- his stats are mythic... his game, legendary.
5. Allen Iverson: A lot would probably disagree with me on this one but as much as anyone of you discredits him for whatever reason, he changed the paradigm. Pound for pound, the best ever. Owns the biggest heart in the NBA. He was loved by fans for his game and accepted him whatever he is and not what he's trying to be. Without him, a lot of superstars right now wold probably act as if they were on a leash, follow every command of the corporate world and the basketball market.. oh, wait.. they're doing it now..
6. George Mikan: First dominant big man. You wouldn't be called "Mr. Basketball" if you hadn't have that much effect on the game.
7. Bob Cousy: The "Houdini"played ahead of his time. If he were playing right now, he'll probably receive more oohs and aahs from us than Nash, Kidd, or Paul --- combined.
8. Oscar Robertson: Most complete player of all time. Triple-doubles were never the same again.. as well as free agency...
9. Jerry West: How infulencial? He's on the logo for crying out loud. Never-say-die attitude.
10. Shaquille O' Neal: the word "dominance" will probably be always attached to his name.. forever and ever. The last true "Dominant Big Man" of our generation.

A high-end donor to President Barack Obama holds one of the jobs White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina dangled in front of Andrew Romanoff to dissuade him from running the Democratic Colorado Senate primary.
Leocadia Zak, who along with husband Kenneth Hansen gave $10,200 to help elect Obama, was nominated for the post of director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency on Nov. 16, 2009 — about two months after Romanoff told Messina he wasn’t interested in that Commerce Department job or two other positions at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Sheer coincidence... I'm sure.

Benzene and Human Health
Benzene is a clear, colorless and highly flammable aromatic liquid that evaporates quickly into the air, and can dissolve in water. It is formed from both natural processes and human activities; natural sources of benzene include volcanoes and forest fires.
Benzene is present in crude oil, gasoline and cigarette smoke. It is industrially used as a solvent in paints and other chemicals and products such as dyes, detergents, nylon, plastics, drugs and pesticides. Benzene is widely used in the United States; it ranks in the top twenty chemicals for production volume and makes up about one percent of every gallon of gasoline.
Are there health hazards to benzene exposure, i.e. can benzene cause cancer?
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that benzene is a human carcinogen, and can cause various forms of cancer from prolonged exposure. According to the IARC, benzene is often considered “the mother of all carcinogens,” as a large number of carcinogens have structures that include benzene rings. Occupational studies of workers exposed to high levels of benzene show association with leukemia cancer; including acute myelogenous leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, and chronic myelogenous leukemia. Benzene-related leukemias have been reported to develop in as short as nine months, and can remain dormant for as long as 25 years after initial exposure.
Even a small amount of benzene exposure can cause temporary nervous system disorders, immune system depression and anemia. Short term affects include skin, eye, and respiratory tract irritation, headache, stomach irritation, drowsiness and dizziness. High levels of exposure can result in a rapid heart rate, excessive bleeding, tremors, vomiting, unconsciousness and death. Benzene can cause harmful effects on bone marrow, and can cause a decrease in red blood cells leading to myelofibrosis and myelodysplastic syndrome.
How can I be exposed to benzene? Who is most likely to be at risk?
Undoubtedly, the greatest risk for high level exposure to benzene is in the workplace. Occupational exposure to benzene is likely to occur in the rubber industry, oil refineries, chemical plants, and the shoe manufacturing industry, as well as in gasoline storage, shipment, and retail stations. However, most individuals are exposed to benzene through tobacco smoke, automobile exhaust and other environmental sources such as gasoline filling stations, industrial emissions, and food products that contain benzene naturally. Indoor exposure can result from glues, paints, furniture wax, adhesives and detergents.
In addition, certain industries may release benzene into the surrounding air. These include ethyl benzene and styrene-production facilities, petroleum refineries, chemical manufacturing plants, and recovery plants for coke oven by-products. Leakage from underground storage tanks or from hazardous waste sites containing benzene can also result in the contamination of well water.
Is benzene regulated by the U.S. government?
Yes. Because of the dangerous health effects benzene exposure is known to cause, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency now regulates benzene in the air and watehttp://sfawbn.com/news/?p=1923http://www.airport-data.com/airport/FL60/maps.html

Are they just using talking points and don't know the facts? or are they referring to Sheriff Joe Apraio's fake and forged document that he passed out at a conference?
What about Joe's fake document, should he be held accountable for the forging of a Federal Document?
http://azcapitoltimes.com/azpolicywonk/2009/10/14/sheriff-joe-a-non-existent-us-law-and-the-next-crime-sweep/
Sheriff Joe, a non-existent U.S. law and the next crime sweep
But during a press conference on Oct.
Could that be taken to mean Arizona in general?
So Jeremy dug a little deeper. He read through the section of code that Arpaio’s document referenced (Section 8, USC 1324). He couldn’t find any citation of that text. He continued searching records, and later asked ICE officials, immigration attorneys and the Department of Justice to clarify whether that was, as Arpaio had said, included in federal law. Everyone said it wasn’t.
Another editor and I read through actual U.S. code and also couldn’t find any reference to the text of the document Arpaio had handed out. We were perplexed.

Ben Lovejoy is getting strong consideration to finally get a chance with the Penguins next year, so that's probably a 4th defenseman right there, being another contract under a million.
The Penguins have enough money to probably sign another player worth 4 million. It depends if they want that player to be a top-6 winger or a defenseman (Most likely a Defensive-defenseman.)
Who do you think they should go after? Me personally, I'd rather get the bruiser defenseman, and form an actual shutdown pair with Brooks Orpik. My wish-list would revolve around Dan Hamhuis.
The cap is expected to go up around 58 million (57.7 to be exact.)
But anyway, the actual question is to you all: what do you think the Penguins need to spend that 3.5-4.5 on more? A winger that can support Malkin/Crosby, or a defenseman?Go ahead and get crazy with ideas.
Like:
But all because we get one, doesn't exactly mean we can't get the other. I for one think the Penguins need to give up that 20th pick of their's up LOL. Go get a top-6 winger that is young and cheap. (My wish-list would involve trading Kennedy/20th overall for Versteeg.) But in doing so would mean, we would need a guy like Tangradi in the Top-6. Which obviously, he'd have to prove in training-camp he'd be ready for such a role.Cooke is a very-good 3rd liner. I don't think he is a 4th liner at all. He puts up 30 points.
I love Cooke, but I don't think we should re-sign him to be honest with you. We have plenty of guys within the system that can fill a bottom 6 role. At 1.2 (or him possibly getting a raise), Cooke is expandable.
moreVoting Question: If I was in control of the free agency this summer, this is what I would do...tell me what u think?
if I had it my way this is what I would do
LeBron-if he doesnt win a championship this year, his best spot is New Jersey. They have a ton of young talent, Brook Lopez, Devin Harris, can get no later than a #4 pick this years draft, which would be John Wall, Even Turner, Demarcus Cousins,Wes Johnson
Wade-Im saying he stays in Miami cause they will get a great free agent who ill mention below
Bosh-Chicago couldnt be more perfect for him. He would be the #1 option and they really need low post scoring and they wouyld get a top 3 PF and have a great nucleus to build on
Amare-should resign with Suns. Phoenix has realized that they are best with Amare and finally have a good chemistry with that team, why mess it up and no other team would want to pay him a MAX contract because he isnt worth that because his defense is lazy at times and his rebounding has never been as good as it should be
Joe Johnson-Atlanta struggles in playoffs, but Joe Johnson should resign cause no one else would pay him as much $ as Atlanta would
Boozer-resign with Utah, that D Will Boozer combo is as good as it gets and they went pretty far this year w/o key players so keep that team together
David Lee-Miami, joining D Wade would be a perfect fit for him. David Lee is a guy that doesnt need any play called for him and he can get you 20 points 10 reb 5 assists. He would be perfect with D Wade,
I feel the only MAX contract players in this free agency are LeBron, D Wade, Bosh.you feel that way about Bosh because no ne really gets to see him play much cause he is in Toronto. If he went to a major market, people would respect his game moreBTW- im a Lakers fan and I live in LA, so dont get it twisted!

Joe Arpaio passed out a fake document that was forged saying it was the Federal law that SB1070 mirrors. How many people were influenced by this fake document?

Sheriff Joe, a non-existent U.S. law and the next crime sweep
During a press conference on Oct.
Could that be taken to mean Arizona in general?

moreResolved Question: what exactly is landlord- tenant harassment?
okay so here's the mess i'm in. I paid deposit and first months rent on march 3rd. My husband lost his job on march 7th. Landlady lives about 2 houses down, noticed our vehicle was home frequently and stops by to ask "how we are settling in" and asked why my husband's been home. After finding out he lost his job, she started calling once or twice a week, asking if we found employment yet, ending each conversation with saying that if we couldn't pay she would evict us. April 3rd came and we didn't have money for our rent, she wanted us to go to agency's to ask for help, we did everything she asked of us even though aid isn't available due to our state's dept atm. She contacted us 2 times a week and stopped by once a week from April 3- April 24th asking us of our progress and continually threatening eviction and also threatening to show the home before we move. I received a certified letter from her address to mine on April 28th saying if we didn't pay her the past due rent, current rent and some late charges summing to $1350.00, by May 3rd it was our notice of eviction and she would put us out with out process of law, and would take a lien on our personal property immediately. Well she came over on may 4th demanding our keys and to leave our stuff; and we told her that since we had children that she would have to evict us through the court of law, she threw a fit and left, her husband has come over may 10th to ask us how long till we are out, we told him a week or two tops. He then returned a few hours later saying that we have to be out by saturday. I have not received a legal eviction papers from the court, and I understand that we owe her rent, but i kind of feel like she and her husband has gone to far with threatening us. I should also mention that in the lease it states that if rent goes unpaid for two months that the eviction process would start. So is this considered harassment? I kinda feel like it is because she has been threatening to go outside the law, and that has me fearful to leave my house in fear that she will come in and take possession of my personal belongings.

moreResolved Question: Is FusionFame/AbleModels another SCAM?
•Hello there,
With my experience in Fashion and modelling industry, I know models connect can help you gain knowledge that how the model agencies work and what do you have to do! same time models connect's information can make you understand choose your further step. but there is a danger that people seeing the information people can be impressed to decide to gohead with photoshoots and pay whatever they charge. but think about this, what are the chances that you really will be given jobs. I think if any one wants to try, wit few potential pictures you can register with Visagemodels if you are not so purticular about getting into fashion. Remember if it is fashion you wanna get into you have to understand that it takes to follow rules in evrey one role. so please do not beleive any agency they dont knowledge about choosing you. A professional fashion model agent can tell your stats by just looking at you, more over he must be familiar with updates whats going on in fashion industry.the reason i m breifing you you should be a victim, how can some one interview you without even familaiar with designer names, how can you beleive? Let me share some experience, there are 100s people i have seen, conned by many agencies, like MajorModels 7Models, phase 7, FusionFamemanagement. who can stop these people. Any how we may not change the law, but they are playing their cards, always these innocent girls being victims. Why should some one again be victimised? Many people registered with FusioFame management they can say people have got jobs but how many? they choose evryone be cause they book for photoshoot for money. its simple ! lets see this way! they can show you some examples of previous contract out of 1000 how many got ve got the jobs? they pick the best profiles send them again and agian to their clients. so 10 out of 1000. MajorModels ,7 Models,Uniquemodels and phase 7 they are blood sucking. Dont melt in the dreams they show, be wiser when they talk. I want people been conned with these blood sucking agencies to speak out. so that i can give advice to lead the cases. Imagine some young girl called Monica , approached UniqueModels they booked for photoshoot saying she can get the job the very next day, you know how did she pay the money? borrowing a week wages from her pregnant sister. where is the job next day? the answer was 'we tried but the client already chosen others' we have still jobs coming up. we will you call, its been 33 weeks now! 7Models has name sake worker from select model agency. dont be victim again trusting. all these run on same formulae.,selling an egg for the cost of chicken saying the egg is from chicken. dont be attracted just for the words sound professional.
best thing to do apply to top model agencies likeVisage management, Zaramanagement etc.

moreResolved Question: Melbourne Storm slary cap breach?
Reigning NRL premiers Melbourne Storm are braced to lose premiership points as a result of salary cap violations after a day of high drama for the Victoria-based club.
Storm officials headed to Sydney on Thursday for discussions over the outcome of NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert's investigation into player deals.
Rumours swept league circles that the Storm would lose their premiership points and face a hefty fine.
It is understood any fine or sanction won't be retrospective, so Melbourne's 2009 premiership is not threatened by the findings.
The fine is likely to be at least a large six-figure amount, with rumours it could go as high as $1 million.
Asked on Thursday morning if the Storm has been stripped of their eight premiership points, NRL chief executive David Gallop said: "There hasn't been that decision. There hasn't been (a decision on a fine).
"I can't really comment on anything that is going on with the storm at the moment. I have said before we are investigating a number of issues. it's the same position.
"I'm working on it as quickly as I can."
Gallop has since called a press conference for 4pm (EST) at NRL HQ in Sydney.
A senior Storm player had been due to speak to media following their skills session at Princes Park in Melbourne.
But the team hurriedly left the field in a group led by skipper Cameron Smith - said to be for a team meeting - and did not return.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy also left the session early. He was understood to have been summoned to a meeting, and left the training session to his assistants to run.
Canterbury were stripped 37 premiership points in 2002 and were also fined $500,000.
The Warriors were the most recent violators of the salary cap, starting the 2006 season with a four-point deficit and having to operate under a reduced salary cap, as well as pay a $430,000 fine.
Australia's leading NRL bookmaker TAB Sportsbet dismissed the conspiracy theories surrounding small bets on reigning premiers Melbourne Storm to win the wooden spoon.
Glenn Munsie said there was little concern in his camp and revealed he had taken 10 times more money on Cronulla to finish last than had been wagered on the Storm.
"It's out of control," Munsie said.
"There's a spark somewhere, that becomes a brushfire, becomes a bushfire.
"It all started in a couple of places this morning and they're now coming from everywhere.
"We hold more money on the NRL than any other agency in the country and I can tell you right now that we have taken $2000 on Brisbane and another $10,000 on the Sharks to win the spoon.
"In just one bet we've taken 10 times the amount that's been had on the Storm to finish last."
Munsie revealed that one punter had plonked just over $20,000 on Canberra to finish outside the top eight in a big day of bettin

http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/0410/041910m1.htm
Poll: Trust in government nose dives
Less than one-quarter of Americans have faith in government, according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center.
Only 22 percent of respondents reported trusting the government in Washington, with 74 percent of the more than 2,500 participants citing poor performance as a top complaint. In March and April, Pew conducted the survey, which followed up on polls from the late 1990s that explored the same issues.
Turning around negative view of government will take time, Obama official says 03/09/10 Poll: Americans have lackluster view of government 11/16/09 Performance measures should fit agencies' specific missions, panelists say. 07/10/09 Study: Ethical breaches becoming common in government 01/30/08 In particular, the public's favorable ratings for federal agencies have fallen significantly since the late 1990s for seven of the 13 agencies included in the March survey. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Education Department, Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, NASA and Social Security Administration experienced double-digit declines in public satisfaction. The Postal Service remains the most popular agency, with 83 percent of participants in the March survey viewing the agency favorably, down 6 percent from 1997 and 1998. The CIA and the Internal Revenue Service were the only agencies included in the new poll whose approval ratings increased since 1997 and 1998.
Despite those figures, the public still views federal agencies much more positively than they do Congress. The favorability ratings for the agencies included in the survey ranged from 40 percent to 83 percent; 26 percent of respondents expressed a favorable opinion of Congress. Forty percent of respondents said the Obama administration does an excellent or good job, while just 17 percent said the same of Congress. And 56 percent of respondents said they would like to see their child pursue a government career, while 70 percent said government is good place to work -- the same figure reported in Pew's October 1997 survey.
Public dissatisfaction with government has been growing since the economic crisis hit its peak in 2008. Respondents want a less active government overall, except when it comes to regulating the financial industry. Thirty-eight percent of respondents in March viewed the government's impact on their daily lives as positive, compared to 50 percent of participants in Pew's October 1997 survey. Pew also found dismal views of the country's other institutions, including corporations, banks and the national news media.

I am merely informing you that your account has reached a point where it must be turned over for Aggressive Collection.
You can read for yourself on the Reliabid.com website the process of collections and I will summarize it for you. Once it is turned over to the collection agency of Hunter-Warfield you will be treated as a Non Paying Customer of our business as if you walked into our store, purchased that item on credit and didn't pay your outstanding bill. Your acquired information from Ebay will be placed in a National Skip Trace Database were more personal information will be obtained. At that point Hunter-Warfiled can and will place this non payment of your delinquent account on your Personal Credit Report. This may effect your credit score and may cause your interest rates to rise on your credit cards and loans and may even prevent you from getting new ones.
Hunter-Warfield will give you an option to avoid this drastic and final step by making a full payment or a final payment of 20% of the winning bid + $10.00.
We do not want to see this happen. We are offering you a way to avoid all this mess and make a flat rate payment of $19.99 to cover our losses and close your delinquent account before it goes to collections.
We want to make this as easy as possible.
How to Submit Payment:
Please go to paypal.com . Log into your paypal account. Click the Send Money Option and send $19.99 to restockingfee@ebaybuynow.com
Please copy and past your auction information from the top of this email into the Note Section of the paypal payment so we have your correct account information.
Your name will be removed from the collections list and your account will be closed.
If you do not understand how to send a payment and have a paypal account, please reply to this email asking us to send you a paypal request and the email address to send it to.
If you do not have a paypal account or have problems making payment, please reply to this email and request another form of payment.
If we do not receive a reply to this email we can only assume that you are not willing to settle your account and we will have no other choice but to turn it over to collections.
Once again, if this invoice has been paid for and you have received your item(s), we apologize. Please contact us so we can update your account.
Sincerely,
Billing Dept.

moreResolved Question: OH THE JOY! Got fired today....for wearing a t-shirt.?
Hey guys.
As a quick intro ive been working for a temp agency for almost a year now and thought myself lucky when i was assigned to Hertz rent a car in Uxbridge for the duration of the year.
Its a normal assignment really. Im basically the guy who does all the donkey work around the massive building with regards to site maintenence, moving office furniture, refilling the office water, lighting, topping up the copier with paper, getting rid of recycle waist and managing all the post etc etc like i said if there was a job nobody wanted to do i was there to do it (pritty crap i know but it was a job).
Now heres the really shitty bit, i was fired today because i was wearing a t-shirt to get on with the hands on part of the job. I usually wear smart casual clothes and then take the smart bit off when im getting on with the manual part of the job so A) i dont sweat my ars off in the smart clothes and end up smelling all day while in the process of ruining my clothes with general dirt and B)so im more agile when trying to for example navigate a table down three flights of stairs..upon doing this my line manager took me to one side and said that wearing a t-shirt had caused one of the other employees to complain and i had 10 minutes to finish what im doing where i would be escorted off the premises.
Now before anyone thinks yea its probably because your some sort of over weight loser and nobody wants to see you in a t-shirt you fat etc im not..im in shape..good hygiene and im pritty normal by all accounts blah blah and i was liked by everyone (to my knowledge) i worked hard, i was always on time and always did what needed to be done and occasionaly stayed late and worked.
I had worked there over a year on a temp contract through my agency and just to be dismissed like this is embarresing concidering the commitment i showed. I was wondering what rights do i have if any? i want to let them know that they cant treat temps like this in the future and fire someone for simply wearing a t-shirt.Thanks for the post guys. By the looks of it i have been screwed over ha. I realise now that they can treat me temps like mere cattle and to your questions..yes i was told what dress code to wear which was smart casual which again is precisely what i turned up in and worked in! apart from when i was lifting something that would ruin my shirt of which ide then take it off and work in my t-shirt...but thanks guys
moreResolved Question: What OPM Federal Government hiring preference is best? Veteran, Permenant Status Federal employee etc.?
I am in search of government employment. I am currently a federal employee with permanent status in an excepted service agency that has an interchange agreement with OPM to allow us to apply for competitive service positions in other agencies.
-I am also a veteran with the coveted 10-Point (30% VA disability) preference which makes me VEOA eligible
-I am also an honors university student in 2 national and international honors societies which makes me S.A.A (Superior Academic Achievement) eligible.
-I am also studying Arabic at University which makes me eligible for Super Critical Language preference
-Lastly, I am also an intern at a pretty well connected and prestigious fed gov't agency.
I am not trying to toot my own horn by any means but I am trying to get some guidance on how to formulate my hiring preferences. My question is this;
WHEN APPLYING FOR POSITIONS THEY NORMALLY SEND YOU TO A COMPUTER BASED INPUT SYSTEM WHERE YOU HAVE TO SELECT WHICH, IF ANY, HIRING PREFERENCE (Veteran 5-point, 10-point with 30% disability, current federal employee, etc.) YOU WISH TO BE CONSIDERED UNDER. SINCE I QUALIFY FOR MULTIPLE PREFERENCES I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE THAT HAS THE HIGHEST CHANCE OF GETTING ME PUSHED TO THE TOP?
WHICH OPM HIRING PREFERNCE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST? ( I assume Veteran with 30% disability, but have been told that once you have perament status the status weighs in more)
Additionally, I came to a spot that asks about Time in Grade and has the option to select "Not required-Veteran with 30% Disability" does this mean if you have 30% disability you can waive the time in grade requirement? How does this work?
In the end I know you will still be hired on your background, experience and skills (of which I have plenty) but getting your resume even to a hiring officals hands can be hard. That's why I am asking these questions.
-THANK YOU(**please NO ADVERTISING, NO PROMOTING RESUME BUILDING PRODUCTS, OR POINTLESS UNRELATED MATERIAL THAT HAS NO DIRECT CONNECTION TO MY QUESTION)
moreVoting Question: How can I stop being a hopeless law student?
I feel so hopeless right now....I am a law student in good standing, I am in the top 10 of my class, I am also bilingual and have clerical experience yet it seems like no one wants to hire me for the summer. I have applied for numerous jobs and internships at law firms and government agencies (about 20 applications), and no one has even called me back (and yes, I have checked to make sure my number on the resume is correct). I had my resume and cover letters edited and read by career services, so I am just not sure what I am doing wrong. I am getting very frustrated because students with much lower grades than me have already gotten a position, and also some really incompetent people also have summer jobs in their mommy or daddy's law firm. What should I do? Keep on applying to more places? Give up looking for a legal summer job and apply at a fast food place instead?
