Dear Potential Sponsor, Hello! My name is Sara****** ****** , I am a 7th grader in St. Louis, MO where I am actively involved with Holy Redeemers Soccer Team, Unity Church's Youth Group and many other youth activities. In the future after graduating from high school where I will complete many advanced placement courses I plan on attending Greenville College in Illinois where I will obtain my Doctrine degree in the medical field and later I will be, hopefully, a brain surgeon or a pediatrician. In the month of _____________________ I was crowned as your local Miss ******** Heights Missouri. On ____________________ I will be representing and honoring my title as Pre-Teen Miss ******** Heights as a contestant at the upcoming Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant this pageant leads directly to the prestigious The Dream Girls U.S.A. National Pageant this is where all state title winners along with the runner up will compete for the National title of each division of 0-24 mos.: Baby Miss Missouri, 2-3 years: Tiny Miss Missouri, 4-6 years: Little Miss Missouri, 7-9 years: Junior Miss Missouri, 10-12 years: Pre-teen Miss Missouri, this is the division I will be competing in. On to over 40 years of age. To be able to pursue competing for Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant and fulfilling a dream that all little girls have growing up I am asking businesses like your own to help offset my fees by sponsoring me in anyway possible whether it be merchandise, advertisements, or financially. I look forward to having the honor to represent everyone in our community and state to the best that I know how. Many people do not realize that allowing children to be apart of what they feel strongly about in their childhood are great ways with helping them to mature not only will pageants help them grow up strong and compassionate but with confidence and poise also. With that goal in mind that is the exact reason why I chose to compete in the Dream Girl Pageants over other pageants. At The Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant titles, scholarships, prizes, and awards are earned through hard work and demonstration of self confidence, intelligence, elegance, willingness to help others and natural beauty not by the cost of a contestants outfit or how "glitzy" they can appear. They celebrate the achievements and personality of all women, teens, and girls at all stages of life while encouraging growth of future leaders. This pageant will help promote a brighter future for contestants by stressing the importance of education and community involvement. They help do all this by teaching lifelong skills that will help myself and other contestants in what ever we may choose to do in life. It may also lead us on how to conduct ourselves in interviews , public appearances and speeches , but most of all how to carry and present ourselves with confidence. As you can see this is why I feel this is a wonderful organization with many positive outcomes for everyone involved with them. As a potential sponsor, you are being asked to help me continue my quest of competing for the Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant's Miss Pre-Teen crown/title by providing any portion of the sponsor fees. My total sponsor fee goal is $800 if possible. In return for your sponsorship you and your business/organization will be featured with me in the state program book that will be seen by many from all over Missouri.(HOW MUCH ADS ARE HERE!!) The sponsorship fee is also is/isn't tax deductible for businesses as an advertising expense. In addition to that advertisement I will do my best to represent you as my sponsor in this pageant. I will also be available if requested for public appearances, talks, and presentations for your organization/ business such as special promotions, newspaper ads, parades or just to sign autographs. If additional services are desired let me know and I will try to accommodate your business if possible. Your support will greatly be appreciated. Thank You for your time and for helping me realize my dreams! Most Sincerely, Sara****** ****** Missouri Dream Girl USA's: Pre-Teen Miss Missouri ------------------------ |Cell Phone ------------------------ |Email 1 ------------------------ |Address moreOpen Question: I just made a new forum, how can I advertise it?

I am 16 and I just heard about the Google Adsense program. I decided when I turned 17 or 18 I would try it, but I read that several people were having issues with the site not paying them due to accusations of "click fraud." If I were to try Google AdSense and they did not pay me, I would seek an alternative. So, does anyone know LEGIT websites- better than google AdSense paying people/ teens 17+ or 18+ to advertise their links on personal websites. Please people I am not looking for any scams, just truthful websites. moreVoting Question: music nowadays sucks, because MANY young people music taste nowadays sucks?
and before I go any further, I just want to clarify that I'm born in 1982 (which makes me still of today's young/Gen Y generation,...not some typical 'old-gen-hates-new-gen' cliched story). I know that this has been said over & over again that it's almost a cliche, but seriously, as a big music lover and a musician myself, I feel really really sad & angry for the current state of *MAINSTREAM* music nowadays (note: i am not saying ALL, just those big MAJOR hits that's played in radio & MTV nowadays), that everytime I turn on the radio or MTV or V channel nowadays, it's like I just want to destroy my radio & TV forever, because I can't stand how music nowadays just basically feels very 'dry', lack emotions, very shallow lyrics and theme, and the same boring **** repeated from artist to artist. this alone is already sad. but what makes me even sadder, is of how there are still MANY many people (particularly teens, I notice) that said of how this & this major artist have a TALENT, and a HUGE one!......uhh, no it's not. it's sadly just a "clever marketing & advertising strategy" coupled with being "commercial" & having all about pretty looks & body (and showing cleavage & boobs for female). what happened to the great, very emotional, and actually INNOVATIVE music, and I'm talking about MAINSTREAM music, such as: - Beatles : Eleanor Rigby (still damn genius song, IMO) - Carpenters' heartfelt emotional songs & *meaningful* lyrics that you CAN actually relate, such as Yesterday Once More, Rainbow Connection, Leave Yesterday Behind - Queen : Show Must Go On (I literally shiver everytime I hear this, even still now!) and many many other good *MAINSTREAM* music?? - and in the rock realm itself, all those REAL-innovative (not the misinterpred "fake innovative") rock music such as Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, Guns N Roses' kick-ass ending in song November Rain, Deep Purple's Sweet Child in Time, Burn, etc - even funky, soul music such as in the movie Sister Act (just watched it yesterday) were still DAMN GOOD compared to the crappy repetitive r&b and sh*tty blink-blink shallow hip-hop music nowadays! (that again, misplacedly labeled as "talented"! uggghh!) instead, nowadays for the *MAINSTREAM* music played in radio and TV, and labeled as "talented, gorgeous" by these young teens, we got Lady Gaga feat Beyonce with mediocre, 'dry' music, then showing all their body and by repeating meaningless "e e e e e e e" phrases and lack heartfelt LYRICS! .....and don't even get me started on talking about Ke$$$$hhhhaa & Bieberrr! I mean seriously,..as cliche & overly-repeated question this certainly is, but I'm there's a REAL POINT in people asking this question: what the hell is wrong with music nowadays? and where is it heading? and thus my main question: is it *only* music nowadays that sucks,..or is it because today's MAINSTREAM young teens & people are part to blame, because there're still a LOT lot of them, fact of the matter, still like it, even label them as "talented" ??? and a BIG kudos will be added, if you can actually tell me, how to change this hopeless situation we're in? thanks, and please forgive my frustration! PS: again I'm not saying ALL music today sucks. it's the major, MAINSTREAM music that's currently "popular" and played over & over again in music & radio, that so many people nowadays sadly still think they're "talented", and that's WHY they're POPULAR/famous! ouch, big one! moreResolved Question: Ways for a teen girl to earn money? Hello, thank you for allowing me to analyze one of your ads. What exactly is advertising? According to http://www.rubak.com, advertisement is “the attempt to send information to people to convince them to spend their money with a certain company I came across one of your ads regarding a new sandwich you invented: the BK Super Seven Incher. The ad has a young woman with her mouth wide open, looking surprised and nervous. There is a sandwich across from her mouth suggesting that the sandwich is too big to fit in her mouth. Written in bold letters “It’ll blow your mind away“. The target audience seems to be men. As a young woman and Burger King Consumer, I find the ad offensive and insulting. In your mission statement you state “We will conduct all our business affairs ethically, and with the best employees in the mid-south”. You seem to doing the exact opposite in this ad. In your ad, you appear to make the Super Seven Incher so big and juicy that women would not be able to handle it, especially with our small mouths. The ad seems to make everything seem larger. The words are printed in big bold letters, the sandwich is made to appear rather large, and the woman seems to be blown away by the size of the sandwich. On the bottom right hand corner, it is written “fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-broiled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind blowing burger……” Since when has something as innocent as eating a burger become so sexual? I understand that you are simply trying to get your new sandwich out there, and spending a good amount of money to advertise it. Advertisers currently spend about $360 million a year on product placements in films and TV programming, according to the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF). sexual innuendos of this sort is inappropriate - especially when it comes to advertising fast food (which most likely will be viewed by innocent, impressionable children).Burger King is a popular fast food restaurant and everyone eats there, women, men, teens, and especially young children. When innocent kids see your ad, what are they suppose to think? It’s just not ethical to portray a sandwich as humor or sexual. In today’s society, women are especially used for advertisement. As jean kilbourne states in her movie “Killing Us Softly” (1999), women’s bodies are used as tools. From clothing, to perfumes, to sports, even foods, as in this ad. Women’s bodies are used to sell. Women are portrayed as having a hot body, but no brain. Just put a half naked girl next to anything and it’s sold. Why didn’t you use a surprised-looking man trying to fit the big sandwich in his mouth? Why only portray a woman with this type of facial expression in this particular situation? In all, if you want to have better results in sales, try not to offend women or any gender or race. If you make an ad that appeal to all genders, you will have better sales. Using women in an offensive manor is an ugly trend that needs to stop. Burger King is a well known restaurant, and well respected, in order to keep it this way, you shouldn’t use such offensive ads, similar to the Super Seven Incher. moreResolved Question: are you good at writing? plz take a look at my short essay (very short)?

There's this commercial for a new blackgerry type/texting type thing...where you can connect with your friends from twitter, facebook, and who knows what else. This is totally insane. They want teens and people to live in this facebook/twitter/ world instead of having real lives. Why??? Thankfully i'm not stupid and i dont have texting nor do i use my phone for useless stuff. But many young people do.. and yet the phone companies give them the message that it's cool to do all this kind of distracting texting and stuff meanwhile becoming disrespectful to real living people( ignoring people, not being nice, texting and twitting and whenever when in stores and places). Alcohol and Propaganda is not a Match According to FAS, “alcohol is to be blamed for 100,000 deaths each year.” Alcohol has become a dependent source for teens and many adults. Drinking effects mind processes and the human body awfully. The use of these advertisements is a major source for the public to take alcohol as a positive consuming product. Alcohol should be banned from the internet, television, and print advertisements because these campaigns promote a substance that causes awful health issues and death, and financial issues. It is true, alcohol campaigns are being displayed throughout America and both adolescents and adults nationwide are being introduced to alcohol, a harmful substance when misused, through these advertisements. For everyone, the body has either very little or zero tolerance to alcohol. When alcohol is overused, the mind loses its ability to make good quality decisions and the organs of the human body get wounded. This can result in many bodily illnesses, diseased, and perhaps cancer that all can cause death and a miserable life. The inability to make good quality decisions can also cause many troubles ranging from the inability to maintain a relationship to being the cause of a car collision from driving under the influence. Furthermore, the use of these commercials is also advertising a substance that can cause a financial crisis. Alcohol becomes addictive to many people because it brings the mind to a relaxed state temporarily relieving stress, anxiety, and more. Overtime, as more alcohol is being consumed by the human body, the human body is building tolerance to the alcohol. When the body is building tolerance to the alcohol, the body is required to have more alcohol in order to enter the relaxed state that had been previously experience and in order to consume more alcohol, more money will need to be thrown away. This will result in a financial loss and can cause a financial crisis which can cause anything from having again, a difficulty time maintaining a relationship to having to get rid of any possessions one may have. In the final analysis, Alcohol should be banned from all advertisements because they promote a substance that can cause awful consequences including health problems, death, and financial issues. The fact that these advertisements have persuaded many to consume alcohol clearly shows that these advertisements have a part in the cause of many deaths, health issues, and financial issues. Should advertisement companies promoting detrimental products be allowed to advertise? Would one want to be in charge of choosing whether or not he can save millions of lives and choose not to? moreResolved Question: Find three examples of commercials or ads that target teenagers....?

i think this is AWFUL im "ok" with a woman's choice (at certain times) but advertising abortion on TV is just wrong in my opinion. this is a private company in the UK who gain 100 million/year from preforming abortions and are now advertising their "services" this to me will encourage more teens to think "oh who cares about a condom this time, if it happens to me i can just get an abortion" i know some think that now but this can only promote it more. how would seeing this advert make you feel? do you think this shouldn't be allowed? http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Abortion-TV-Advert-To-Be-Aired-For-First-Time-Marie-Stopes-International-Pays-For-Infomercial/Article/201005315634947?lpos=UK_News_Second_UK_News_Article_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15634947_Abortion_TV_Advert_To_Be_Aired_For_First_Time%3A_Marie_Stopes_International_Pays_For_Infomercial moreResolved Question: What is this Degrassi show?

This question is for those who have tryed pot !! I dont want answers form those who havent experienced it themselves. No pothead answers like , smoke it up ,weed is my life , please smart and well informed answers im taking this very seriously. Im 15 and well I go to a school and live in a society where weed is very common. People usually have a very bad perspective on those who tryed or do weed. At my age theres allot of teens smoking and are very ignorant to make such a substances something to live for. I have goals and have been bougth up in a drug free home.Im really not the type of guy that you would suspect these sort of things from, but you cant judge a book by its cover.I cant say its peer pressure because im very smart and know when to say know NO, but honestly It was me who wanted to try it and took the chance when it came by to do so. The first 2 times nothing really happend to me I was fine and didnt really aww about it I wasnt really "high", so I wanted to get the full experience strigth out of curiosity . So I went ahead and purchased it. Finaly I really got "high" and I really have to say I did enjoy it and definately it was a very pleasurable experience, if i werent to like it I would of stoped. Ive been sober for a while because ive told myself this isnt going to become a part of my life so I left it to special occasions once in a while. Ive done my research because I do not take anything especially when it alters your state of mind and not know well about it. My views on marijuana : its okay as long as its not daily use and your not reconized for your constant drug abuse. I want to be looked up to and well, things like this unfortunately make you look bad which it shouldnt in my opinion. Unless well like I said you make it a part of your life. Marijuana is life changing , Im sorry if I sound exagerrated but its true you experience a different state of mind where the sober brain doesnt quite comprehend unless your high. This is where I go back and say please no answers from those who havent tryed it.The thing is I feel different now that ive tryed it a couple of times and by different, Im talking about my personality im usually very focused and with a good sence of self image but now I feel a bit guilty like im contradicting myself and societys good image of a well healthy person , like how people look at me yet I dont advertise myself about doing weed. I think differently now im still myself but I notice this sligth difference in my thougths. Allot of people migth say dude your over working yourself just dont think about it , im sorry but when something changes the way you think I think it should be a big deal. Has this happend to you ? Types of Eating Disorder An eating disorder is “a disorder characterized by abnormal eating behaviors and beliefs about eating, weight, and shape” (answers.com). Two types of eating disorders are over eating, and skipping meals. Both are dangerous and can lead to various health issues but both are treatable if they are caught on time. Overeating starts when someone is frequently teased about their weight. Overeating is when a person eats so much even if they are full, and after eating they feel guilty and depressed. Overeating mostly starts as a slight problem and can lead to a bigger one. Overeating can lead to obesity, or death, because most of the stuff they are eating isn’t all that healthy. In some cases the person can get choked by the food or even get a heart attack, because the body can’t digest so much food that fast. Sometimes when the person has episodes of overeating they force themselves to throw up, which is known as Bulimia. When you don’t eat well or you skip meals, the little you eat your body will storage it, instead of digesting it, because it knows that it will take a long time to get more food, and instead of losing weight you gain more. Of course if you stop eating completely, your stomach will get used to not receiving food and will throw out everything you put in to it. Skipping meals start when you think it’s the only way to lose weight, but the right way to lose weight is having a balanced diet. There are many Nutritionists that can help people make a healthy diet plan. When someone doesn’t eat at all, because they think they are fat, that can be characterized as Anorexia. Media and society The way of life of many people today may have a great effect on their personality and self-consciousness. In the American society, it is very demanding to have the perfect hourglass figure in order to “fit in”. Of course this fact influences many individuals to worry way too much about what they look from the outside and don’t care of the damage they are causing themselves on the inside. Media can cause people to become unhappy with their bodies, one because in most show the main actresses have always a perfect body, and because most of the larger sized actresses are always being made fun of. Which teen would rather be the larger sized actress than the perfectly shaped actress? People specially teens; don’t see that most celebrities aren’t perfect. In most magazines you see a famous person advertising a diet pill; and most people believe it actually works because they see that celebrity standing there. Most celebrities have cosmetic surgeries to look that perfect and regular people wouldn’t be able to afford that type of surgeries. Even if someone could afford a cosmetic surgery they are extremely dangerous. The effects of an eating disorder Both over eating and under eating because malnutrition and it’s when you don’t eat enough proteins and micronutrients witch include vitamin A, iodine and iron. Malnutrition can cause respiratory infections, kidney failure, blindness, heart attack, and death. Malnutrition can also be a case in people who look perfectly fine. Dehydration is caused when your body doesn’t have enough liquids in your body or carbohydrates and fat. Like I mentioned earlier, to maintain a healthy body you have to balance fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Dehydration can also lead to kidney failure, heart failure, brain damage, and seizures. Another effect an eating disorder cause is Hyponatremia, which is when your blood doesn’t have enough sodium. Hyponatremia relates when you drink too much water and can have many effects on someone, especially if they are malnourished. Also when someone is malnourished your body starts feeding off of itself, which causes to lose muscle, this is called Muscle Atrophy (something-fishy.org). Some psychological problems are when you are always looking at yourself in the mirror but you don’t like what you see, which is when you have low self esteem. People become obsessed with the thought of wanting to be “perfect”. The picture that media gives us is that to be happy you have to be skinny, tall, and beautiful, which makes people’s self esteem go down. One of the causes of an eating disorder is depression, because when someone is depressed, they are unaware of what’s happening in their bodies. A lot of people during their depression they want to eat all the time, and others forget about everything they just want to rest, and most of the time they forget to eat or they just don’t feel like eating, and causes them to have health issues. Anorexia and Bulimia Anorexia and Bulimia both have a different meaning, they both start when a person doesn’t feel happy with their life. Some Anorexics or Bulimics hate their life/ and seek to control it through self-deprivation, or vomiting. “Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves” (Mamas Health). Anorexia is when a person doesn’t eat at all, and there stomach gets used t moreResolved Question: Who should I interview for an advertising report?

I struggled experimenting with makeup as I began to enter my preteen/teenage years because my mom didn't teach me what I should wear and what I didn't need. On my own I determined my choice of color/style in makeup based on ready-made eye makeup kits that were color cordinated for a specific eye color, like the brand Almay. As an early bday present this year, my mom bought me makeup from Avon, specifically: texured teal quad, purple haze quad, fresh cut greens quad, i-mark eyeshadow in nomadic, ultra luxury eyeliners in Khaki, eggplant, and black. With all the makeup catalogues advertising new products I get confused. Are there any Avon or Mark (the teen version) representativesor customers who (like me) ave dark brown eyes (sometimes I can't see my pupil), long dark eyelashes, naturally pale rosy cheeks and lips, a fair complexion with sensitive skin who could recommend makeup to use or that you use yourself that will make the darkness in my eyes pop! I've heard that purples, blues, greens, and silvers look good on people with brown eyes. Also how do you keep eye makeup fresh/bright all day long and not crease or fade in color. Finally how do I know what makeup to wear with certain clothes and for special occassions, ex: jeans/t-shirt at school vs dress and heels at a school dance? How about a smoky eye? Thanks for all your help!:) moreVoting Question: how can i reword this?
my daughter is driving while texting i have found these notes on the internet but i to make it so she understand im gonna have to reword this on i need help Texting on a cell phone is even more dangerous than talking. A study by Virginia Tech found that texting while driving on the highway increases the risk of having an accident twenty-three times. On average, a text message distracts a driver for about five seconds, which on a highway means about one-hundred yards. Off the highway, the University of Utah found that texting increases the risk eight times. 56% of teenagers admit to talking on their cell phones behind the wheel, while 13% admit to texting while driving. (Note: Because this information was given voluntarily by teens, actual cell phone use numbers may be much higher.) 48% of young Americans from 12-17 say they've been in a car while the driver was texting. 52% of 16- and 17-year-old teen drivers confess to making and answering cell phone calls on the road. 34% admit to text messaging while driving. In 2007, driver distractions, such as using a cell phone or text messaging, contributed to nearly 1,000 crashes involving 16- and 17-year-old drivers. Over 60% of American teens admit to risky driving, and nearly half of those that admit to risky driving also admit to text messaging behind the wheel. Each year, 21% of fatal car crashes involving teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 were the result of cell phone usage. This result has been expected to grow as much as 4% every year. Almost 50% of all drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 are texting while driving. Over one-third of all young drivers, ages 24 and under, are texting on the road. Teens say that texting is their number one driver distraction. 'Texting' while driving is the act of composing, sending, or reading text messages, email, or making other similar use of the internet on a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle, such as an automobile, truck, or train. The practice has been viewed by many people and authorities as dangerous. It has also been ruled as the cause of some motor vehicle accidents, and in some places has been outlawed or restricted people have to stop. Texting while driving leads to increased distraction behind the wheel. In 2006, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group conducted a survey with more than 900 teens from over 26 high schools nationwide. The results showed that 37% of students found texting to be "very" or "extremely" distracting. A study by the AAA discovered that 46% of teens admitted to being distracted behind the wheel due to texting. One example of distraction behind the wheel is the 2008 Chatsworth train collision which killed 25 passengers. The subsequent investigation revealed that the engineer had sent 45 text messages while operating the train. A 2009 experiment with Car and Driver magazine editor Eddie Alterman that took place at a deserted air strip showed that texting while driving had a greater impact on safety than driving drunk. While legally drunk, Alterman's stopping distance from 70 mph increased by 4 feet; by contrast, reading an e-mail added 36 feet, and sending a text added 70 feet.[1] In the UK in 2009 Gwent Police worked with film maker Peter Watkins-Hughes and production company Zipline Creative to create the graphic short film "Cow", as part of a campaign to stop texting while driving.[2] The film earned honors in the Advertising Age's weekly Creativity Top 5 videos [3] and became an overnight worldwide internet hit after being shown on the American news program The Today Show.[4] On August 29, 2007, Danny Oates was killed by a young driver of a car, allegedly texting while driving. The defense had argued that driver Jeffrey Woods had possibly suffered a seizure during the time of the accident. [10] On January 3, 2008, Heather Leigh Hurd was killed by a truck driver who allegedly was texting while driving. Her father Russell Hurd has been actively supporting a law in various U.S. states called Heather's Law that would prohibit texting while driving. [11] The 2008 Chatsworth train collision, which killed 25 people, and which occurred on September 12, 2008, was blamed on the operator sending text messages while operating the train.[12] In 2009, a crash on the MBTA Green Line of the Boston area was blamed on a driver who was texting. This occurred nearly a year after the Newton, Massachusetts rail accident, which occurred on May 28, 2008, and was blamed on the operator using a cell phone while operating the train. A day after talk show queen Oprah Winfrey focused on the dangers of texting while driving, two members of the Georgia House of Representatives introduced bills that would ban the practice. “Don’t tempt fate,” said Rep. Amos Amerson (R-Dahlonega), quoting Winfrey. “That text or call can wait.” Amerson and Rep. Allen Peake (R-Bibb County) introduced similar bills that will likely me moreResolved Question: If L'Eggs Pantyhose company started advertising in teen magazines, would pantyhose come back into style?
Given how easily we teenagers are influenced by media and magazines, it seems that pantyhose would come back into style if only L'Eggs (or other hosiery companies) would start advertising in teen magazines with pictures of teen girls wearing them. I watch reruns of The Brady Bunch, and every girl on that show is wearing pantyhose. But that was back in the 70's. I wish they would make a comeback nowadays so I wouldn't be one of the only girls that wears them anymore. moreVoting Question: Would you employ a teen to fix your pc?

I've seen the ad a few times on TV. I'm not one to dispute a person's right to advertise what content they want. I've never felt this way about an ad that wasn't political. Yet, girls are so impressionable in their teen years and this advertisement can't be of any help. Basically it's for the new Clearasil acne system. Two young girls walk into a lab and ask for "Mr. Science" for answers about the new system. He explains that there are two main problems with acne. There are the pimples and then the scars or what he called hyper pigmenation. One of the girls say "hyper what?" Then he just looks at her and repeats the word with out explaining like she was an idoit. Then the girls walk away again calling him "Mr. Science" like they didn't even care what he was talking about. All they wanted was clear skin to look beautiful. The marketing may have stated girls don't care about the science behind acne but this was down right insulting. If there had been a young girl and guy in the picture the commercial would have come out a little more neutral. I think that the commercial underminds girl's intellegence and intrest in science. They made it seem it was the "man's" job to figure out for the girls to look pretty and that's all that mattered. Or maybe I'm throwing this out of porportion. I'd appreciate it! Thanks!?
Hi, I'm an 11 year old in 6th grade who is writing a research paper on eating disorders. I was wondering if you guys can give me any constructive criticism, especially on my transition statements, conclusion, and intro. It is kind of long so if you don't want to read all of it, skip to the intro and conclusion, but best answers will give me constructive criticism on my paper. Tell me if you've read all of it, only intro and conclusion, or skimmed. Thanks! I really truly appreciate your help! BTW, I never ask questions on here, I'm on my friend's account-- she's older than 13. Eating Disorders What types of eating disorders are there and what are the characteristics of each? About one-fiftieth (1/50) of the population has an eating disorder. That is about two out of every hundred people. People in their teens (especially ages 14-17) get eating disorders more frequently than other age groups. They are dangerous and take a heavy toll on one’s body. They also can cause severe problems in the body and sometimes even death. All of these facts make it extremely important to know more about Anorexia, Bulimia, other eating disorders known as EDNOS, what they are, and types of treatment. Eating disorders are extreme eating behaviors, unlike dieting and exercising. They form when a person has negative feelings and thought towards their body image, and are now starting to develop at disturbingly young ages. “Research shows that 42% of first- to third-grade girls want to be thinner and 81% of 10 year-olds are afraid of being fat. In fact, most kids with eating disorders began their disordered eating between the ages of 11 and 13.” (Eating Disorders 1). Two more widely known eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. People with Anorexia Nervosa have “an extreme fear of weight gain and a distorted view of their body size and shape.” (Eating Disorders 1). The effect of this is that they would do almost anything to have a low body weight including exercising, dieting, limiting their calorie intake, and more. People who have anorexia tend to eat little food and a lot of them usually have a low body weight, whereas people with bulimia eat a large amount of food at once and then they vomit. Some people describe this as “… self-induced vomiting or laxative use” (Eating Disorders 1). Other disorders include chewing and spitting out food, uncontrollably eating a large amount of food, and vomiting after eating a normal amount of food. These disorders do not have a specific name, so they are called EDNOS- eating disorders not otherwise specified. EDNOS have the characteristics of an eating disorder but don’t qualify as one that has its own specific name. All of these eating disorders have something in common, even though they may seem very diverse: a cause. Most of the eating disorders are caused by a great number of things including, “…cultural and family pressures and emotional and personality disorders. Genetics and biologic factors may also play a role.” (Eating Disorders- Causes 1)People who have a family history of obesity, a history of abuse, a family history of emotion disorders and/or addictions, and poor parental behavior and parental attitudes all play roles in why a person gets an eating disorder. Most models, actors, actresses, and even a large number of normal people are slender, and this causes the people who aren’t so lean to make themselves think that they need to be. Clothing is usually meant for slender bodies, yet the media advertises “junk foods” so that they look appealing. However, they still require for you to be thin to fit into certain clothing properly. There can be a number of abnormalities in our bodies that can make us develop an eating disorder; these abnormalities take place in a small part of the brain called the limbic system, specifically, the abnormalities take place in the hypothalamic-pituitary-axis (HPA) .The best way to prevent an eating disorder is for a person’s friends and family to be supportive and positive about the food a person is eating, and making sure that they don’t eat too much or eat too little, like patients with anorexia. Anorexia nervosa is one of the most common disorders; anorexia; it also has a lot of symptoms that can be deadly. Anorexia is Latin for “nervous loss of appetite”. It is “…characterized by a severe revulsion towards eating that results in extreme thinness and sometimes even death from self-inflicted starvation.” (Anorexia Nervosa 1). People with Anorexia are usually very underweight and often look emaciated. They will usually only eat certain foods and eat very little of it, which is why anorexics desperately want to be thin, but when they are thin, they imagine that they are fat and the cycle starts all over again. This is a very serious condition, and about 1 in 20 people who have anorexia die from it, usually of suicide. When people starve themselves over a long period of time, the conditions of their bodies and minds chan moreResolved Question: (CA/ Zip 92708) I want to be on TV!?
