Okay as you can tell, I’m writing something about NYC. I’m fascinated by the city life. I know that you should at least visit the place that you’re writing about, but I’m broke and I do not have any time off of school as I have very important exams coming up in a few months. Please help me with as many of these as you can! 1)Which job is more successful/popular in NYC- advertising or travel agencies? 2)Where exactly is NYU? Is it close to Gramercy in Manhattan? 3)Are there a lot of schools in the Gramercy/Stuyvesant Town areas? Do they wear uniforms? 4)Is there anywhere in Manhattan where you can hold a really nice wedding reception? Also a nice place to get married (I’m not fussy, church, garden whatever) 5)NYU teaches something in Art, right? 6)Subway stations in the gramercy/Stuyvesant town area? 7)How is the weather in October? Cold or you still get some hot days? 8)Does it ever snow? Thanks, and please be informative and even leave links to websites if you can. It’ll be a real help :-) moreVoting Question: I would like to work for an advertising agency..?
I can see myself living in NYC and working for a big advertising agency. I am very good with computer graphics, although I don't think that's the part I'd like to be doing (It doesn't pay very much) I would like to know what jobs are available in an advertising agency, and what salaries come with that job. I would also like to know which agencies are the most respected and well known, as I would like to intern at one at some stage. What sort of degree would be needed for each specific job? I am most interested in working in the television advertising industry and I'd like to be on the creative side more than anything, but I'd also like a decent pay check. Any information you have would be very much appreciated! -Edward moreResolved Question: Moving to Mexico City ... and scared to death... ?
Hello! My family is originally from Mexico City and even though I have visited many many times, I have never really lived there and have no real grasp of what is like to work there, salaries, living expenses, etc. For reasons beyond my control I have to move back with my family at the end of this year (aka. Nov-Dec) and I'm scared to death of what I may find in regards to job / living situation / etc. Everyone tells me I should be ok, since in Mexico companies are "malinchistas" and would definitely hire a perfectly bilingual, Ivy League educated individual. Ok, fair enough. But they also tell me that salaries are laughable and I have been quoted ridiculous sums as low as $700 dlls per month for a director level position at an advertising / media agency (my industry). As you can imagine, I am very fearful of finding myself in a situation where I'm working for peanuts and not being able to pay rent for a decent apartment, gym, etc (things that seem more of a luxury than a necessity here). I apologize if I sound too ignorant, but the truth is that when it comes to living in DF, I haven't the slightest clue. I would very much appreciate it if anyone could clue me into what the job market is really like, what salary I could expect given my good credentials and 3 years of solid experience working in advertising in NYC as well as a diverse background and language skills. Any other insight into DF living would also be very much appreciated. I'm scared. :S Thank you. moreResolved Question: PLEASE READ!!! Girlfriend of 10 months makes rude comment to me after I have done so much for her?
I have been dating my girlfriend for about 10 months now and so far everything is going great. I have been working for my family( my uncle's) business in NYC 6 days a week since I met her , I am making great money and everything has been great. Before I worked for my family's business, I was doing freelance media work, which I loved but was making hardly any money. My girlfriend loves that I make good money and I am able to take her places and do a lot for her. She has made comments in the past about my long work hours and work days,to which I have told her that my family is very old-fashioned and in order for me to make a great living, I have to WORK!!. She works for a small advertising agency that gives her a ton of perks and TIME OFF, she also comes from a wealthy family . When I first met her , she was living with her parents at the time, where i have been living on my own since the age of 19. As I stated she comes from money, when we first me we both shared an interest in getting apartments in the city. She moved into the city last summer because her parents gave her $10,000 to get situated in the city. I, on the other hand have been saving up every week with no help from anyone to get my place in the city. Last night, she made a comment to me that it CONCERNS HER that I still havent been able to move into the city, and she questions if I really want to move into the city, she also told me that she is not breaking up with me, but it concerns her greatly. I have not been helped by anyone and I am saving up on my own. How should I answer her, I feel like I do and spend so much on her, and she still can turn around and make a comment like that. moreVoting Question: PLEASE READ!!! I have recently moved to NYC from London and currently looking for a job in Digital Advertising Sales. I have over 7 years of ad sales and account management experience, including over 5 years in digital working for Alta Vista and Google. Takes place in NYC, a hispanic neighborhood. A man has returned from prison (I think) to his wife? who has two kids. A young boy and a younger girl. She has a good job that's getting better, working for a advertising agency or stylist. There's a photoshoot involved. She dresses models to look urban and even gives up her t-shirt for a shoot. Her white boss is attracted to her and drops her off in his limo. The husband rejoins his neighborhood friends and is cheating with some chick from the street. The woman doesn't really want him around. There's a scene where she locks herself in the bathroom and he uses the kids against her, making them cry. The street chick starts a rumor that the wife is sleeping with the boss and the husband hears about it thru his friends that at first claim to have seen it. A fight ensues on the stoop to their building between the husband and wife, then wife and street chick. The boy gets involved selling drugs and buys new shoes. Husband puts older kid to wall. moreResolved Question: Is it legal for Armed Forces MCSS allowed to advertise and Sell Airsoft guns in New York?

I've currently have a few job offers with several multi-national ad agencies in Auckland earning around 100K per year, in Vancouver I have an agency position paying about 85K, so the same, but it seems the NZ opp is actually more interesting then in Vancouver. Anyone have any thoughts on ad industry in Auckland vs. Vancouver? I just moved from Toronto and NYC and now need to stay whether to stay here or go to Auckland. I've already worked in OZ. I find Vancouver a bit too regional and Auckland more international in the advertising field. What is the cost of living in Auckland vs. Vancouver. House is $$$ here in Vancouver and even though many are leaving NZ and housing is pricey in Auckland, for me I find it pretty cheap, much cheaper then here in Vancouver. Cars and consumer goods cost more, but then again I think it's all relative. Only thing that that scares me a bit is reading how many people are leaving NZ for Australia, is it really tha moreResolved Question: Hi. How difficult will it be to find a job in NYC?

Created by a Sopranos writer, we've fallen in love with AMC's "Mad Men" program about a 1960's NYC advertising agency. What we love the most about it is that it reminds us of a not-too-distant time when people were much more slender, much more healthier, and much more FREE. Everyone smoked. CONSTANTLY! And they drank. A lot. And drinking and driving? Of course! Kid won't get to sleep? Give him a dab of whiskey, shuts him right up! Men were clean cut and gorgeously handsome. Suits and ties and even a little Brill creme in the hair to give it a sparkle. Women were shapely, sexy and buxom, they didn't try to look like boys. Pointy bras and tight girdles, high heels and stockings. Pampered hair. I'm sorry, but that generation was hands down 100 times more classy and sophisticated than ours today. We gave up the freedoms of smoking and drinking and stopped getting dressed up and pampered... and we're mostly a generation of FAT, slovenly, classless, slobs. moreResolved Question: Asking a human resource contact to help find a job at a different office?
I have been in contact with a human resource contact at this advertising agency in NYC. She told me to keep in touch with her and she will let me know if an opportunity comes up at the agency. Thanks moreResolved Question: How can I redeem myself after this?
I went on an interview today at a major NYC advertising agency. I had interviewed with them before (different position) and did fairly well, but this interview (with another lady) didn't go too well. During the interview, I ended up asking her what she's looking for in a candidate. As usual, she said detail-oriented and organized (which I am... I'm very anal about organization). Now, this is where I screwed up majorly. Sometimes I'm so blunt, it's horrible. I ended up saying something along the lines of "Anyone who comes in here is going to tell you they're detail-oriented and organized, but the only way to really verify it is by speaking to past employers." I didn't mean to come across as a smart@$$ at all, but after I said it, I'm pretty sure that's how it came across. Is there any way to save myself? I can't believe I said that. I would have been perfect for the position too. moreResolved Question: Job Dilemma?
I started a job about a month ago with a company in NYC. I didn't really want the job, but I needed the money and was pretty much desperate. Well, before moving to NY, I had a telephone interview with a large advertising agency, but that fell through since the lady was hiring in June and I didn't move until July because of some setbacks. Well, I got ahold of the ad agency recently and they want to see me for an interview tomorrow at 4 p.m. The job I have now is very dress-down, so I couldn't show up dressed up for this interview, so I told them I had a doctor's appointment tomorrow (which is a lie, but I couldn't be honest and be like 'hey, this company sucks, I'm looking elsewhere'). I feel bad about lying to them, but the company I'm with now has horrible benefits and no potential for growth. I don't want to tell this ad agency that I have this job now, so it's not on my resume. If I get this job at the ad agency, how do I quit? I don't really know what to do!This is in response to the person who said I should tell the advertising agency about this current job... I'm afraid if I tell the ad agency about this job, they'll think I always start jobs and then quit them. This is the first time I've ever hated a job so much that I even started to look elsewhere. I also didn't include the job on the resume I sent them since I just started. moreResolved Question: where is a good advertising agency in upstate NY/Conn?
