Open Question: what are good places to advertise real estate for sale?

I have 60 acres of bare land and want to sell it. Half is woods and the other open. Can be divided into 20 acres 30 acres 40 acres or 60 acres. I have tried Craigslist but the quality of the people there are such that they feel they should get BIG DISCOUNT on everything they buy. I have sold many things on craigslist but all wanted to buy cheap. I had 10 people view my land from craigslist and wanted it too cheap. i am way below the market price now. I have a fish business and house started can go with it for just $3000 per acre and the woods for just $1500 per acre. That is a cheap price. Please can you think of ideas besides newspapers? Or if Newspapers WHAT 1s ? In 1987 i sold a farm by a USA Today newspaper ad for $300 a day in classifieds I was very happy. But now I do not understand USA todays paper? It has changed. My place is in Southern Indiana 69 miles south of Indianapolis Indiana more

Open Question: What would be the most effective way to market my dad's company to potential investors?

My dad is the president of Teuton Resources Corp., a mineral exploration company focused on the golden triangle of north-western British Columbia. Teuton has properties right next to major gold discoveries such as Seabridge Gold's KSM project and Silver Standard's Snowfield project. Teuton is the largest landholder in the prolific area. My dad wants me to start an adwords campaign to get his company out in the open. I've tried in the past but all of my keywords, which are relevant to http://www.teuton.com, come up with low scores, usually around 4/10. I need to figure this out but am not sure where to start. Using other advertising options such as Facebook are an option also. Any ideas? more

Open Question: A CEO of a large pharmaceutical company would like to determine if he should be placing more money allotted in?

A CEO of a large pharmaceutical company would like to determine if he should be placing more money allotted in the budget next year for television advertising of a new drug marketed for controlling diabetes. He wonders whether there is a strong relationship between the amount of money spent on television advertising for this new drug called DIB and the number of orders received. The manufacturing process of this drug is very difficult and requires stability so the CEO would prefer to generate a stable number of orders. The cost of advertising is always an important consideration in the phase I roll-out of a new drug. Data that have been collected over the past 20 months indicate the amount of money spent of television advertising and the number of orders received. The use of linear regression is a critical tool for a manager's decision-making ability. Please carefully read the example below and try to answer the questions in terms of the problem context. The results are as follows: MonthAdvertising Cost (thousands of dollars)Number of Orders 1$68.934,902,000 272.623,893,000 379.585,299,000 458.674,130,000 569.184,367,000 670.144,111,000 793.373,923,000 878.884,935,000 982.995,276,000 1075.234,654,000 1191.384,598,000 1252.902,967,000 1361.274,999,000 1489.194,345,000 1590.033,934,000 1678.214,653,000 1783.775,625,000 1882.533,978,000 1998.764,999,000 2072.643,834,000 a. Set up a scatter diagram and calculate the associated correlation coefficient. Discuss how strong you think the relationship is between the amount of money spent on television advertising and the number of orders received. Please use the Correlation procedures within Excel under Tools > Data Analysis. The Scatterplot can more easily be generated using the Chart procedure. NOTE: If you do not have the Data Analysis option under Tools you must install it. You need to go to Tools select Add-ins and then choose the 2 data toolpak options. The original Excel CD will be required for this installation. It should take about a minute. b. Assuming there is a statistically significant relationship, use the least squares method to find the regression equation to predict the advertising costs based on the number of orders received. Please use the regression procedure within Excel under Tools > Data Analysis to construct this equation. c. Interpret the meaning of the slope, b1, in the regression equation. d. Predict the monthly advertising cost when the number of orders is 5,000,000. (Hint: Be very careful with assigning the dependent variable for this problem) e. Compute the coefficient of determination, r2, and interpret its meaning. f. Compute the standard error of estimate, and interpret its meaning. more

Open Question: Im trying to start my own business...?

I would like to find some small businesses to offer my services for free... This is for me to practice some internet marketing skills that I wish to offer in the future... I would be able to make them more seen on a local level and also help develop a strategy for them to get positive reviews placed where people will read them and be more encouraged to visit their business. I have already done this for a few friends and so far it seems to be going good. I would also like the opportunity to ask a few questions about their current marketing strategies. Things Like... How long have you been in business at this location? How many locations do you have? What types of advertising do you do? Do you ask your customers where they found you? What % of customers are found online. What is your monthly marketing budget? What % of marketing is online? Can anyone else help me think of some questions I might need to consider? I would really like to find volunteers in different cities. I think this service would be great for restaurants, and independent agents like Realtors, insurance agents and travel agents. I don't want to lie to get people to let me try with their company and so far everyone has said no... Any suggestions? You misunderstood. I would ask those questions to learn the industrys and how they currently ARE marketing. i think to really offer them something I need to know what they are doing already wouldnt you agree? What I would do is make them more visible online. Thats it... and I would like to help me determine a fee using that information that they provided while answering those questions as not to charge something over the top and not to sell myself short.I know there are a lot of business that can benefit from this. It is not SEO. Its using the map on the front page of google searches. There can only be 7 companies on that front page map. so its kinda prime real estate. Problem is noone gives me the time of day. They just say not interested. Im not a salesman... more

I don't know what I want to do with my life. I thought I wanted to be a doctor, but now im not really sure. I mean I want to help people, make them feel better, change there lives or perhaps save there lives, and I also love science and the money of a doctor...well that's just a great perk. Also, doctors are always in need and I have heard going into health professions is best with job market like it is. If Im wrong on any of the above please let me know(in a nice way) Anyway I started my freshmen year of college a few weeks ago, and im suppose to major in biology(pre med), but I hate all my classes. Im mean sure there interesting, but I don't feel like im getting anything out of being there, I feel like I might be in the wrong major....( i have bio, chem, math, eng) I have thought about my career choices, what I wanted to do after high school, college etc, and Ive come up with a lot of different things. many of them are in either science or art, or teaching. My problem, I think, is that im afraid of getting a degree in what I really want to do, then either having no talent in it or not getting a job( if that's the case its 4 years of school, time, money wasted) But I don't want to be someone that just exist to work, I want my life to be exciting, have free time, and enjoy the job that I do have to go to. I mean if someone said "you can have a guaranteed job after you complete the required college for it as either a doctor or advertising(graphic design)" I would pick the advertising job over a doctor any day. Its what I really want to do but the odds of getting a job are lower......right? Does everyone think like this? Should I just settle on a major/career because of a positive job outlook? What are the odds of getting hired in say, graphic design or journalism, right out of college? What advice can you give me about my future, or anything that would help me out? SORRY IF ITS LONG any advice????? more

Open Question: How much money does the Pharmaceutical industry spend on advertising each year?

I've heard they spend upwards of 30 billion on advertising alone. I have also heard they spend quite a bit less on R & D of product and often recycle old stock piles, thalidomide (sp?) comes to mind. In the 60s it was used for morning sickness, and happened to be responsible for what we now know as 'Flipper babies' as the drug interrupted the development of the arm buds. Just recently they tried to reintroduce it to the market for something else like hair loss or something equally inane. Didn't last long thankfully. more

Open Question: What ways can I advertise to sell my farm?

I want to retire and today I am age 62. All I have left is 64 acres and want to keep 4 to fix my home and sell it later. The 60 is bare land. I ran an ad in the newpaper $110 in Indianapolis Indiana for a week got no calls. Craigslist was gettign me 3 calls a day but no buyers just lookers with no money. I need CASH not a contract and I am below market price on the land for example 1/2 is wooded and I saw 60 acres worse than mine sell for $1700 per acre at land auction 4 miles away 3 weeks ago, I would survey off 30 acres of woods for $1500 per acre. If the places I run ads are not working and my price is fair and since people were calling me then there is an interest in my land I feel all I have to do is find the proper place to advertise the land so it sells. But the newspaper i used did not work and online has not worked just alot calls no buyers with money. I have considered drive around Indiana and hang up land for sale flyers? Or do mail outs? Both i tried but very limited and got 4 calls. 2 from flyers at an Amish auction near here held each Friday and 2 from flyers to hunting stores men wanted hunting land. My price is fair and my land is below market and nice location with nice neighbors and I have a fish business that will make the payments. I just want to move far away and have no interest in credit sales I need cash. Banks are not making loans now and the people who wanted my land cannot get money MY question is Where Can I advertise to find a real buyer with money? Realtors have not worked I gave 600 realtors an open listing and no buyers.THE QUESTION IS NOT where can I get a LOAN that for for the BUYER I am the SELLER the question is WHERE CAN I advertise to FIND NEW BUYERS. What is all this about LOANS ? Banks are only loaning on 10 acres or less so I need someone wh already HAS money. What places can i Advertise to find new buyers. ??? What WAYS ?i am 62 years old I do not want to wait until the country gets better I also do not want to lower my price I am way below market now, what i want is ways to find buyers because I am VERY confident a buyer is out there ready to buy and who has the money. I need ways to locate them. more

Open Question: My rental apartment's current tenant is causing problems?

I have a property management company that is great. This renter moved in a year ago and signed the lease agreement with the management company on behalf of my rental. Every six months when a new lease needs to be signed, the renter throws fits so that he can manipulate everyone into doing what he wants them to. His lease is up at the end of Sept. I contacted him in July and asked him if he planned on renewing his lease. He told me "no" that he was not because I was to raise the rent $25 per month. I have been taking a loss on his rental payments for a year now because the rental market was bad last year. I notified the property managment company of the renter's decision and let them know that I would start advertising for new potential renters at a higher rental price. I have had MANY replies and many people interested in renting it. The renter now says that he wants to go month-to-month and according to Section 15 of the agreement he has with the property management company, he can do that for as long as he wants. He didn't want to pay the $25 in rent increase, but is willing to pay $70 more per month for month-to-month? Month-to-month is not profitable for me because the months of Nov, Dec and Jan are tough months to find renters and I have them now. Do I need to terminate my contract with the property management company (which I hate doing) so that at the end of Sept. the renter and the contract he signed is null and void?My property management company is giving him a non-renewal and he says that he still plans to stay. ..?? more

Resolved Question: EBay sellers - does it work as a business?

In desperation after looking for work in London for 4 months without success despite a good professional background and skills, I am thinking of advertising myself as a conduit for people who don't know how or can't be bothered - to sell their EBay stuff through me. Are there any particular mistakes (like I already know I am not going to store stuff for people and that I will take no responsibility for stuff that is overpriced or doesn't sell. I will bear the costs of the listings and shipping and do ALL the work....in exchange for a 50/50 cut. OK folks, tell me how you did it, what DOESN'T work and what does. I don't want to spend all day going through junk stores. I have a number of wealthy friends (lucky me) who actually get tired of their expensive clobber before it wears out. And they know lots more rich ladies....so there is my proposed "stock". My proposal would be that if they were going to give it to charity anyway, why not let me try to sell it. I have a good camera, and wi-fi at my disposal. Let's hear it and please - no wiseacre answers. This is a genuine effort to make an honest living and I need advise on how to by-pass pitfalls. Notice, I am not marketing myself as I haven't given out an Ebay store address. This is not self-promotion as my yahoo sign in has nothing to do with my EBay account. Thanks Universe! more

Open Question: Business Math Question?

The proportion of people responding to a TV advertisement of a new product after it has been on the market for t days is given by: P = 1 - e^-0.2t The marketing area contains 10,000,000 potential customers and each response to the advertisement yields a gross profit of 70 cents (note: gross profit = sales – cost of good sold. In this case, it has not considered advertising expenses yet). The advertisement costs $30,000 to produce and costs $5,000 for each day it runs. (a) Find the value of P when t is very large and interpret its meaning. What proportion of customers respond after 10 days? (b) Find an expression for advertising costs over time and hence obtain an expression for net profits over time (note: net profit = gross profit – business overheads. We will consider advertising expenses as business overheads here). What are net profits after 10 days and after 28 days? more

Voting Question: Can I remove and sell my house from the Real Estate w/out penalty?

The Real Estate has listed my house on the market and I haven't heard from them in three weeks. No brokers, no buyers, no nothing. I call and they just say that they're working on it, yea right. So I'm wondering if anyone may know about some way or is there some law that can possibly allow me to remove the house from the market due to the lack of advertising or showing of the house? Your feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, this is in New York City. Thanks.Thought I'd ad some details to better explain the situation: I live in a $high income neighborhood. The area is absolutely beautiful and one of the most sought after areas. The school system is one of the best. My house is fully detached huge 4 bedroom. And no, it is extremely under market value. We checked all homes in the neighborhood and made sure we priced it the lowest. My kitchen is completely granite, stainless steel app, and has an island. Not saying this because its my home, but this is Immaculate, Diamond, whatever the highest may be. I simply didn't offer the highest commission so that I'm able to lower the price. I believe this is the reason behind agents not wanting to show the house. So no, there is nothing crappy about this house, that I'm sure of. more

My career dream is to be an investor and entrepreneur but money is a necessity to start anything down that path. I am very organized and determined individual who is very good at math, computers, and Microsoft Excel. I'm interested in Real Estate, technology, and management. I was just going to do Title work or Real Estate for money in the beginning but I have no money to advertise or gain clientèle in any timely fashion. Can anyone give me advice on a good way to make money and save up using any of my skills? I wasn't looking for anything too corporate because I don't want to be tied down in the long run and I'm not looking for the world because I only have few responsibilities as of now and am willing to take risks and am very good at saving money up, so it won't take much to do a lot. Any help gang? Thanks in advance. more

Open Question: Do I want graphic design or something else for my major? Please help!?

I want to double major in marketing and graphic design. The thing is, I'm not sure graphic design is exactly what I want. I can handle people critiquing me, very easily. I am not a fan of making logos but could do it if asked. I want to focus on things like photo manipulation, and creating something sort of like a digital painting. I don't want to make random abstract designs with no shade and no tint. I don't care much for pairing my work with words unless its the thing my work is supposed to be advertising. I'm very proficient in photoshop. I've been drawing for 6 years now, and I've been working on photoshop for about 4 years, so I know my way around those programs. Is graphic design the major I want for this, or would something else fit better? Can you also tell me everything you can about why I wouldn't or would like graphic design if you think its right for me? more

Resolved Question: teachers, have you ever used a video game as a teaching aid?

i was just over in the video game section and somebody was asking if there was a video game about the economy, were you could sort of program your own and see what happened. and it got me thinking about all the Mass Multiplayer Online games i play that have their own economy, and how a lot of them could easily be used to explain economics to students. there is supply and demand, advertising, stock market like situations with people trying to sell before the price gets any lower or buy before the price gets any higher, all sorts of that stuff. its just one example i can think of. but it got me wondering, any teachers out there, have you ever used a video game as a teaching aid? if so, what game was it and what did you teach with it? if you are opposed to the idea, please state why. or, if you haven't and are not opposed, would you be willing to if given the ok by the school district?i also would like to point out i dont expect video games to become any sort of dominating force in the world of teaching. but i can honestly admit that had world of warcraft existed when i was in high school (came out the year after i graduated) and a teacher could show me how the economy of the real world was like that of WoW, it surely would have made things more interesting than just reading about it in a book. and i love readingdavid, i get where your coming from with the real world experiences thing. it wasnt online or anything, but a math teacher one year set up our class in pairs, and gave us monopoly money to "buy" stocks so we could learn about percentages and things. it was a lot of fun, we learned math an economics. and in freshman year at our high schools we KNEW we were going to play "the game" where we were put in pairs and assigned a country. throughout the year we did various reports and projects on that country, including the whole year where we had to chart and keep track of our countries "economy" based on trades and things we made with other countries. it just sort of makes sense to me now that if there were a video game to help teach stuff, and it were utilized properly, it could help a lot of kids learn. more

Resolved Question: Why has WWE become an absolute joke and (more importantly) why is TNA not putting effort into marketing?

I have started watching WWE this year (I used to watch WWF-back when you had: Hogan,Undertaker,Masked Kane,Rock,Shawn Michaels,Bret Hart,Lex Luger,HHH,Razor Ramon) Now I see WWE, I see that the legendary D Generation X stable with Dogg,X-Pac,Chyna,etc. is reduced to HHH and HBK. I'd have no problem with that but all they do is advertise their merchandise. Most new wrestlers are a joke: Carlito & Primo,Jack Swagger,Brian Kendrick, DiBiase & Rhodes jr,MIZ!!!!! The promos are boring, you know that the wrestler's going to miss his jump/kick out AND they don't even hit each other- in the old days they made light contact!!! They don't do blood matches afaik, hardly any-intervention apperances by celebirties, and most importantly, little or no advertising on the mainstream channels. Now TNA has Hulk Hogan, the most famous wrestler in the world, it also has Kurt Angle, an Olympic Gold Medallist. I hardly see them advertising PPVs or going on channels other than Bravo! ^ Why don't they do a crossover like Marvel/DC or like the old days with WCW? The only thing worth watching in WWE is the divas :p more

Resolved Question: Should I stay at my current job or accept a new job offer?

Currently, I am living in Des Moines, IA but working for a company in Chicago, IL from my home. I have been with my current advertising agency for over 5 years and they just recently allowed me to work remotely after having to relocate for my husband. It's a good and stable job with lots of perks, however, it is very stressful and i'm not sure how long they will let me work from home. Also I want to start a family soon and I have to travel to Chicago about once a month, so that could get less than desirable once I start having kids (within the next year). But I do love my co-workers a lot and have a lot of equity built up. An agency in Des Moines has offered me a job with the same salary and benefits and it's about a 10 minute drive from my house. However, the job is a little lower caliber due to the smaller market size. It is the biggest agency in Des Moines though and has a pretty good reputation. I'm just not sure if I'll like it or not and if I'll regret throwing away a job with a great agency that allows me the flexibility to work from home. Also, I don't want to miss out on a good opportunity locally and invest myself fully in my new life in Des Moines. If I don't take this job, there are only a few more agencies left to go to in Des Moines if I need to find one in a few years. Help! I'm torn. Am I just afraid of change? more

Resolved Question: Can some please help me with this hypothesis assesment?

Your company is interested in a new method of advertising. With a significance level of 0.05; use hypothesis-testing techniques to decide if the new technique is better than the old. 1.What are the variables? 2. What are the hypotheses? 3.What is the proper test statistic? 4.What is the value of the test statistic? 5.What is your decision? more

Resolved Question: Billboard on southbound 290?

Has anyone seen a billboard in Chicago on southbound 290 that advertises some airline going to Barcelona? The picture is of a poor bull being mutilated and murdered in a bull fight. I want to contact that airline and voice my opinion of their marketing decisions, but I was so focused on the picture that I didn't see the brand. How anyone can think that picture is going to sell plane tickets is beyond me. more

Voting Question: Does Joe the Conservative need Liberals around?

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a conributor. Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. It is noon time and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university. Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like. I have." more
