Resolved Question: I'm a communications major, and was wondering if anybody knows a good Senior Thesis Research topic?

Ok, so i'm a Communications Major, and i'm taking Senior Thesis (which is a class I need to fully graduate). I have to do a 25-35 page research paper on a communication topic about anything that deals with communication. For example, some of the topics the students in my class chose dealt with social networking and another was "How does sports advertising and its messages affect the children looking up to them" something along those lines. Also, another one was "Why do movie companies make movie sequels". Basically the research topic has to be put in the form of a question that needs to be answered in the paper. I'm actually stuck and can't come up with a good research topic. I want to do something interesting that could involve the media (music or film), or communication within the workplace (leadership roles, etc). Also, something where there is a lot of information about the topic out there (scholarly reviewed/approved articles), and not be too broad, or narrow (where there isn't a lot of information about it). Can anybody give me a good research topic that is interesting to research and involves communication? more

Resolved Question: If deportation of all illegals crushes the Hispanic Market, do anti-immigration folks care?

And do they have a plan to cover those billions, maybe even trillions lost to the US economy? I ask about Hispanics/Hispanic Market because they seem to only focus on them. ================================== The Growing Hispanic Market in the United States Virtually every type of company and organization in the United States is being impacted by the growth of the Hispanic population. You see it in government, healthcare, manufacturing, food service, construction, education, finance, legal, and these are just a few examples. Marketing and selling to the U.S. Hispanics has become so important that universities are offering programs on the subject. Florida State University has recently created a center for Hispanic marketing communications offering graduate certificates and undergraduate minor programs. Following are some facts for consideration: U.S. Hispanic purchasing power has surged to nearly $700 billion and is projected to reach as much as $1 trillion by 2007, nearly three times the overall national rate over the past decade. (Source: HispanTelligence®.) The top areas where Hispanics spend more than non-Hispanics are: groceries, telephone services, furniture, men’s and boys apparel, children’s clothing and footwear. (Source: Selig Center.) The U.S. Hispanic market ranks as the third largest “Latin American economy” behind Brazil and Mexico. There are more Hispanics living in the United States, than the entire population of Canada, which is 32.5 million. (Source: U.S. Census.) We are like a country within a country. Hispanic advertising by U.S. companies grew 24 percent in 2003, compared with 8.6 percent for the general market. (Source: Media Economics Group, research firm that tracks Spanish-language marketing.) By mid-century, 25 percent or one out of every four people in the United States will be Hispanic. The African American population by mid-century will remain at the current rate of 13 percent of the total United States population. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau.) An IRS report predicts that 1 out of every 10 small businesses will be Hispanic by the year 2007. Today the proportion stands at 1 in 13 and rising. Resolved Question: Do you think my dreams are stupid? The degree I'm pursuing, my life goals...?

I have been holding a job at my campus since I was a freshman where I meet people visiting our campus. I get paid to mingle, talk, inform, etc. Basically speak + entertain them. I've found my background in my major Communications has been really helpful but I'm so scared about the real world! My focus is in Electronic Media, and I can't begin to describe how much I've learned about social media, advertising, persuasion techniques, business, etc. I feel like it's shaping me into a better writer, speaker + my networking has increased so much. My minor is Marketing and I'm trying to get a PR certificate. My dream is to get a job, and attend Animation school at the same time. On the side I work with music and have a dance team. I feel like my friends wanting to be doctors/engineers/teachers, etc are more practical...and I'm foolish. I've come so far, won awards, and have my own website paid for by the school just to write for the campus and entertain readers. I've looked at other majors, read up on everything, I've researched and I STILL love what I want :( All the career tests online and at my university say being a film director, creator or designer is what's right for me but I'm scared. more

Resolved Question: Best dog food from Petsmart for young adult medium breed (Beagle)?

Don't answer unless you have done some research, please, or have a good reason why you recommend the dog food. I am not saying this to be rude - I am just frustrated by all the confusing and conflicting information online. Even veterinarians don't necessarily give good advice, at least the ones I have seen typically support the ones that provide them with samples ect. which are not necessarily any good at all. I am extremely frustrated from looking online - I would like to pick a good one from Petsmart, because this is where I go and I don't have a lot of other options. I want the best I can afford for my Beagle girl, but I'm not rolling in the dough so I can't buy something that's super expensive. There has to be some pretty decent food there somewhere, right? There are countless reviews online for hundreds of different foods *sigh* but it's all really confusing. I wish there was an honest (not biased or advertising) website that covered the main brands, so that the average dog food-buying customer, who can't afford extremely expensive stuff, could choose something good for their dogs. Thanks in advance for advice : ) Sarah & Annie the Beagle more

Resolved Question: please read the below article and tell me the quality of english 1. very bad 2. ok 3. good?

How to use Internet Marketing. In todays competitve world where there is no time even to read a newspaper completely, all at one stop seems to be the solution. People just want to pose the problem and ‘kablam’- the answer. This can be achieved only through a media where solutions meet at one place - Internet. Since Internet seems to be the most preferred search answer domain, it is inevitable for industries to reach their hands in there too. So how to use Internet Marketing? Simple, people type in their queries in Google and the search engine brings in all results containing the keywords. Hence the basic practical point is to create a website for the central product. Secondly, social networking sites are the new-ins. So...? Create groups connect with people and post the advertisement. Not only will Google match the keywords, people will explore all horizons to the posted material. Also SMTP can be used to send e-mail to multiple recipients. Hence send e-mail with attractive subject lines which catch eyes. Professional link building tool can also be used so that the product get displayed in searches related to publics query Also video is something which people are interested in seeing. Hence start with something spicy and then start advertising the product. The start should be like comedy for example so that people dont lose interest and may also rate the video which in turn would attract other people to watch them. Social sites like Facebook, Orkut etc have video library facility. Hence post them in your account. This would help other people related to you (friends) see the updates. Also you can go to sites which have blogs and questions answered. E.g., yahooanswers, wiki snwers etc are where people pose question. Post suitable interesting answers and give hyperlink to the catchy words to the product to be marketed. Hence when the individual clicks the link he is directed to product advertisement. Get yourselves registered to sms sites which provide free sms services. Write short and sweet advertisement for the product and send them as sms’s to the recepients. Dont forget to give contact id. All these takes a little bit of hard work and research but the work does pay off. Dont loose hope, carefully seleect your audience and impress them with the promises the product has. more

Voting Question: do you think people see the 'skinny is best' images the media is full of, as reality?

I am doing a piece of research on the media's role in the recent phenomenon of skinniest being seen as best (for women), I want to see if the media really are as influential as they are made out to be by using cultivation theory to see if people look at the images in the media and advertising and think that these images are a true reflection of the world/society and so how they should be. Why is it that only thin people with the so called 'perfect body' are in adverts? Do you think people view the images in the media as reality, how they should and must look like? what can be done? Resolved Question: Is the only way to get a paid ad on the lib biased media like ABC is to support the Marxist Obama's Obamacare?

Do you need a job fast? Last June, as Newsbusters readers will remember, ABC allowed President Obama to pitch his health care proposal in a special edition of ABC's Primetime hosted by retiring World News anchor Charlie Gibson and (now incoming anchor) Diane Sawyer. Obama was given additional airtime to pitch his health care agenda that evening on Nightline. Conservatives didn't get equal time. Worse, ABC News even refused to allow the conservative group Conservatives for Patients Rights to purchase paid advertising to put out an alternative perspective. In the 98 broadcast days of ABC World News advertising logged by National Center Executive Director David Almasi and analyzed by Policy Analyst Matt Patterson, ABC's World News broadcast featured 1,102 commercials, 597 of which were placed by member companies of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) trade association, representing 54.17 percent of total commercials aired. PhRMA very aggressively supports President Obama's health care agenda. http://newsbusters.org/ more

Resolved Question: PLEASE check this English letter for me!~~?

Hi, I have traselated this letter to English. I am really appreciate if someone could check this for me. Dec.15 is my deadline and I cannot find any native speaker around me. By the way, I think I am good at Chinese and Japanese. I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem. With great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend to you Miss. X, an excellent student, who had worked under my immediate supervision for nearly three years, to your graduate program. During these 3 years, she put a lot of energy on academic research and set on online advertising, consumer behavior and Product placement advertising(PPL) as her research field. She also worked very well as my assistant and really helped me a lot in my projects, especially in Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan, Media preferring of High Net Worth Chinese research projects. Miss X has a unique perspective towards her research. As a result, two of her papers about PPL and new media won National level Award. I would like to mention one of her papers about PPL in dubbed and subtitled movies to explain her research ability. Although the data of the research seemed show nothing special, Miss X analyzed the data again and again using different methods. Finally, she innovatively pointed out that the subtitle did an effect on memory to product, and when a product placed in a international movie dubbed and subtitled factor should be considerate. She said she would continue research in this area and put more energy into the game advertising. I believe that she has already prepared for her doctoral program. Next I would like to talk about her performance in projects to demonstrate her strong execution and problems solving abilities. In 2008, I involved her in my Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan project. In this project, the target is High Net Worth Chinese, which is a new concept so the information of it was very limited. It was Miss X to make an effort on solving this problem. She contacted her friends worked in the advertising agency in China to collect useful data. And she had leaded other team members to design a questionnaire, send out questionnaires in proper internet media to collect first-hand information. Within a few months, they obtained valuable information to help the project complete successfully.Could you correct the unnatrue parts or sentences or words for me?Thanks! more

Resolved Question: What has happened to the Obama News Network, called CNN?

CNN falls to last place in ratings for prime-time programs In Nielsen Media Research figures released by the networks Monday, CNN's prime-time programs fell to fourth place. It's the first time since the network launched more than 20 years ago that it finished last in prime time -- the area all networks rely on the heaviest for advertising. Buoyed by a tight Obama-Clinton Democratic presidential primary, which led to prime-time shows such as "CNN Election Center," the network enjoyed high ratings prior to President Barack Obama taking office. But media analysts were left wondering if the network had enough in its programming vault to stay at or near the top. http://www.ajc.com/business/cnn-falls-to-last-175077.html?cxtype=rss_news_128746 And right up above them in next to last place is MSNBC, whoops, too bad people with brains are actually watching the only station that does not have "leg twitching" fools like Chrissy Matthews, CNN the Obama support propaganda station has fallen to last place. more

Resolved Question: Follow my passion or follow my father?

I'm applying for college this year, I'm almost done with all of them. My dad wants me to become a Physical Therapist like my aunt since she isn't having any trouble with the economy and getting a job and stuff. So that's what I applied for, and some of the colleges required me to choose a second course, I chose something in the arts or media. My sister and my mom says that I have a talent and tell me not to listen to my dad, but with the economy and such, it scares me, plus I'd like the chance to travel abroad and work there. I've been talking to my friend and he's planning on taking BS psych cause he wants to make toxins or whatever, and I ask him why isn't he afraid of the economy and all that, and he says "sigh, the economy, you only get to live once" and he started talking to me about the chemical reactions blah blah blah, and i asked him how he knows so much, and he says he does research in his free time. So it got me thinking, what do I do in my spare time? I look at clothes and make up looks, not trends but more like, interesting clothes that are more like art than just a trend. But, if I pursue something like this as a career, its scared me cause what if I lose interest? Then I'm stuck with that degree. I applied for Advertising arts and Broadcasting Comm. more

Resolved Question: Do you think Obama/Baucus healthcare "reform" is for special interest groups...not people?

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28362.html At a meeting last April with corporate lobbyists, aides to President Barack Obama and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) helped set in motion a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, primarily financed by industry groups, that has played a key role in bolstering public support for health care reform. The role Baucus’s chief of staff, Jon Selib, and deputy White House chief of staff Jim Messina played in launching the groups was part of a successful effort by Democrats to enlist traditional enemies of health care reform to their side. No quid pro quo was involved, they insist, as do the lobbyists themselves. ....................“What you’ve had was the Senate and the White House sitting down and cutting deals with special interests,” he said. “I don’t think that’s quite what the American people signed up for when the Obama campaign said that they were going to limit the influence of special interests in this White House.” Criticism — from the left and the right — of the PhRMA deal and the coalitions became more pointed after it was revealed in August that the coalitions were paying two firms with close ties to the White House to cut ads: AKPD Message and Media, which was founded by White House senior adviser David Axelrod, still owes him $2 million and employs one of his sons — and GMMB. Liberals contended drug companies were being let off the hook. And congressional Republicans distributed talking points asserting the PhRMA deal raised “serious questions as to whether the drug lobby is helping to bankroll a multimillion-dollar severance package for one of the president’s senior advisers.” Baucus Bill Sticks To Pharma Deal That Supposedly Wasn't Struck http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/18/baucus-bill-sticks-to-pha_n_290639.html The bill unveiled by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus has been blasted as a major giveaway to insurance companies. But the even bigger winners are the drug makers. That's because the Baucus bill matches up, nearly to the letter, with the secret deal that he, the White House and Big Pharma struck over the summer -- a deal the various parties roundly denied had been struck when it went public. In August, the Huffington Post published a memo that outlined exactly what each side was going to do for the other. And Big Pharma was getting a lot more than they were giving up. Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America senior vice president Ken Johnson said that the outline "is simply not accurate." White House spokesman Reid Cherlin concurred: "This memo isn't accurate and does not reflect the agreement with the drug companies." But now that the bill is out, let's fact check those denials. more

Resolved Question: Dissertation Help! Anyone have any info on the 'premature sexualisation' of children in the current media?

Hey I'm just about to go into my last year at Uni. I'm studying fashion promotion and I'm currently gathering research for my dissertation which is on shock advertising. This is obviously a broad subject and we are required to be more specific. I initially began with looking at the difference between using 'shock' to promote fashion companies and as a means to draw attention to public service advertisements. However I discovered that there wasn't many recent articles on this and it wasn't particularly a current topic. After much research I therefore decided to specifically look at how the media, and in particular fashion advertising, has began to directly as well as indirectly sexualise young children. I also wanted to research what negative effects this might have on the youth of today and who is really to blame and who is really to blame for this sudden surge in 'corporate paedophilia'. So I was wondering if anyone had any views or information on this topic or had recently done a similar paper. This is the dissertation question I have came up with so far, it needs reworking but I need some constructive criticism!... 'Images of sexualised children in the media are becoming increasingly common, particularly in fashion advertising and marketing material. Is this premature sexualisation of children within the media, presenting the youth of today with greater pressures to adopt a more sexualised appearance and behaviour at an early age? If so, what are the negative effects that may be encountered through this type of ‘corporate paedophilia’? And before you ask my lecturers have been really pants with helping me and haven't replied to any of my emails so far! Any help much appreciated, thanks! x more

Resolved Question: My first and only 2012 question! Is SONY entertainment acting legally with the IHC website?

www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/ ^ I'm sure the cronies at Sony entertainment will have looked seriously into the legality of this issue, but is there any possibility that someone could sue Sony for false advertising or even inciting fear/mass panic/public disturbance? There are a number of outrageous lies. Notably: 'The Institute for Human Continuity is dedicated to scientific progress and public preparedness. After more than two decades of rigorous research from the world's top astronomers, mathematicians, geologists, physicists, anthropologists, engineers, futurists...we know in 2012 a series of cataclysmic forces will wreak havoc on our planet.' All this under the pretense of a .org website, when it is in fact a business. Is that legal to wrongly portray a business as an organization, even if it is only as a marketing tool? Surely 'we know' - in the paragraph above - is false advertising? --- Why should this matter? Because children can be easily influenced and duped. They aren't stupid, but when they see a site like this that looks authentic, and have grown up in the internet age, they might well take it as truth. We hear of a child committing suicide in India over media lies about the Large Hadron Collider. The 2012 myth has generated a lot more press than the LHC, and I'm concerned that SONY might have some blood on their hands with this latest monstrosity before long. Maybe you think this is over the top. Your thoughts are appreciated.Lets hope so, Michael. I honestly think there might be a number of suicides related to the 2012 myth though. The website offends me with its mere existence. The film - not so much. But you can see how people might be lured into the trap with this website when it is not at all clear that it is related to the film or Sony, and presented in this official-looking way.Michael: heh heh, thank you. If there is any small chance that they're acting illegally, then I'd like to take some action, somehow.UPDATE: I've just asking this question in the legal section: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgmFKyrE46gi0ZcIUe4sb2cgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090828154055AABBYmA more

Resolved Question: why is it wrong for glenn beck to call obama a racist but ok kanye west say bush didn't like black people?

NEW YORK – Glenn Beck returns to Fox News Channel on Monday after a vacation with fewer companies willing to advertise on his show than when he left, part of the fallout from calling President Barack Obama a racist. A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air on Beck's show, according to the companies and ColorofChange.org, a group that promotes political action among blacks and launched a campaign to get advertisers to abandon him. That's more than a dozen more than were identified a week ago. While it's unclear what effect, if any, this will ultimately have on Fox and Beck, it is already making advertisers skittish about hawking their wares within the most opinionated cable TV shows. The Clorox Co., a former Beck advertiser, now says that "we do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk show hosts." The maker of bleach and household cleaners said in a statement that it has decided not to advertise on political talk shows. The shows present a dilemma for advertisers, who usually like a "safe" environment for their messages. The Olbermanns, Hannitys, O'Reillys, Maddows and Becks of the TV world are more likely to say something that will anger a viewer, who might take it out on sponsors. They also host the most-watched programs on their networks. "This is a good illustration of that conundrum," said Rich Hallabran, spokesman for UPS Stores, which he said has temporarily halted buying ads on Fox News Channel as a whole. Beck can bring the eyeballs. With the health care debate raising political temperatures, his show had its biggest week ever right before his vacation, averaging 2.4 million viewers each day, according to Nielsen Media Research. He was actually on another Fox show July 28 when he referred to Obama as a racist with "a deep-seated hatred for white people." The network immediately distanced itself from Beck's statement, but Beck didn't. He used his radio show the next day to explain why he believed that. He would not comment for this article, spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said. ColorofChange.org quickly targeted companies whose ads had appeared during Beck's show, telling them what he had said and seeking a commitment to drop him. The goal is to make Beck a liability, said James Rucker, the organization's executive director. "They have a toxic asset," Rucker said. "They can either clean it up or get rid of it." It's not immediately clear how many of the companies actually knew they were advertising on Beck's show. Sometimes commercial time is chosen for a specific show, but often it is bought on a rotation basis, meaning the network sprinkles the ads throughout the day on its own schedule. Sometimes ads appear by mistake; Best Buy said it bought commercial time for earlier in the day, and one of its ads unexpectedly appeared in Beck's show. One company, CVS Caremark, said it advertises on Fox but hadn't said anything about Beck. Now it has told its advertising agency to inform Fox that it wanted no commercials on Beck. "We support vigorous debate, especially around policy issues that affect millions of Americans, but we expect it to be informed, inclusive and respectful," said spokeswoman Carolyn Castel. Besides the unpredictability of the opinionated cable hosts, the rapid pace of today's wired world complicates decisions on where to place ads, said Kathleen Dunleavy, a spokeswoman for Sprint. She said she was surprised at how fast the Beck issue spread across social media outlets and how quickly advertiser names were attached to it. UPS' Hallabran said the decision to pull commercials "should not be interpreted as we are permanently withdrawing our advertising from Fox." He said the company wants to reach viewers with a wide spectrum of opinions. Except for UPS Stores, there's no evidence that any advertisers who say they don't want to be on Beck's show are leaving Fox. Network spokeswoman Irena Briganti said the companies have simply requested the ads be moved elsewhere and that Fox hasn't lost any revenue. She wouldn't say whether Fox was benefiting from any anti-anti-Beck backlash, with companies looking to support him. Some Beck supporters have urged fans to express their displeasure at companies for abandoning their man. Beck supporters have suggested that retaliation might have something to do with ColorofChange.org's campaign. One of the group's founders, Van Jones, now works in the Obama administration and has been criticized by Beck. But Rucker said Jones has nothing to do with ColorofChange.org now and didn't even know about the campaign before it started. Beck's strong ratings — even at 5 p.m. EDT he often outdraws whatever CNN and MSNBC show in prime-time — make it unlikely Beck is going anywhere even as the list of advertisers avoiding him approaches three dozen. But it could mean advei should have known the libs would be all over this you have nothing to do but stay home , not work and make sure no one spites obama you people are idiots same as kanye the only racists are the people that voted for obama knowing nothing about him except what the news media (who said nothing about his racist priest that he had been going to for 20 years) and as soon as the first black / white situation came up ie gates he backed the black guy without knowing the situation that shows alot more

Voting Question: How do you become a social marketing consultant?

I have a bachelors degree in Advertising and have a little more than a year of advertising experience. I have not done any internet marketing or social media marketing. I want to get into social media marketing but not sure how to start. I have done research and know the basics of what social media marketing is. But I want to know how can I get into social media marketing. Are there any certification that I can get online (preferably free)? It would be nice if there are any examples of how people have gotten into this business. All feedback is appreciated. more

Resolved Question: I have a statement about economic theory and would like some feedback its also a small question.?

My theory about the current economic recession is that there isn't one its a hoax. The media controls the demand we are all brainwashed by the media we can only think what we know so in essence a bad economy is brought on by bombardment of the words in quote''In these tough Economic times" What a joke it's people who do things we create are own destiny not a piece of paper or the current housing market. I will say that I understand the housing problem and feel that's an actual issue. So what do you think Is it reality tough economic times are people dying left and right from hunger are people gone homeless by the thousands? I think people are dumb supply- demand nobody really knows because they are told what they need to buy from media giants and advertising. Most people do not have an independent mind they buy what they think is right subconsciously even if they did research on the product like a Prius.Banks are the culprit bad loans I get all of that but what about the stupid media always telling us about tough economic times why not positive thinking productive ideas not doom and gloom for ratings it has a profound effect this propaganda. more

Resolved Question: What are your thoughts on how men are represented in advertising?

Resolved Question: Did you know there is link between sexual imagery and violent behavior?

I do no have the research citations immediately available, I left graduate school 10 years ago, but I learned of some studies that were done in 1960s and 1970s era, that demonstrate links between sexual imagery and violent behavior. Another reason for my brain chemistry explosion the other day (yes, there were many contributors to what happened), is I have been getting angrier and angrier every day at unsolicited sexual imagery on the Internet in advertising, including ads for singles and dating services (they are really ads for finding sex without commitment) that Yahoo places in email when you sign up as male gender. The women in these ads are dressed inappropriate and in poses that say, "take me if you want me." They are sick and I got sick from having them in my email everyday for months on end. I never made conscious effort to look at these ads, you don't have to, the computer screen isn't that big, you can focus away from them, but they are subliminal lurking at you unless you cover them, which you have to keep doing as they keep popping up. This and a Weird Al video I was watching a bit earlier reminded me of those studies. Do you realize those studies are evidence indicting the American advertising industry and Hollywood for use of sexual imagery because it actually promotes brain chemicals that promote aggression and violence? Americans are angry people and our mass media's undue use of sexual imagery in advertising can be proven scientifically to be contributing to the problem.I was watching "ebay" in which the insightful lyrics have suggestion of a very unhappy person who is trying to make himself happy with consumer items, with idols, with things, but he is not getting any happier, he is only suppressing growing anger and in the middle of the song announces this anger. The video included a couple further suggestions of sexual imagery in advertising and promoted by Hollywood and I had a sudden memory about those studies. more

Resolved Question: 1. What have been the key success factors for Sony?

Sony Started as a radio repair shop, founded by Masuru Ikura and Akio Morita after Would War II. The company began its long history of producing compact consumer electronics in 1957, when it introduced the World’s first pocket-sized all-transistor radio. The company’s name, Sony, was taken from Sony, the Latin word for “sound” Sony went on to invest a series of transistor-based TVs and increasingly smaller audiocassette recorders. In 1979, the Sony Walkman introduced the World to a new, portable way of listening to music. Sony became a world leader in consumer electronics and was the first Japanese company to have its shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange. In the late 1980s, Sony began expanding into media, purchasing a U.S. record company (CSB records for $22 billion in 1988). And a major Hollywood studio (Columbia Pictures for $4.9 billion in 1989). The purchases made Sony a major force in the entertainment industry. The importance of marketing at Sony started with Akio Morita, who said that for a company to be successful, it must have three kinds of creativity: creativity to make inventions, creativity in planning and production, and creativity in marketing. Creativity in marketing at Sony means not just cleaver ads, but deep insight into its customers. For example, Sony knows its playstation customers like to find clues and to decode things. So Sony’s ads for playstation 2, like “Signs,” feature a young man walking the streets of a city where he encounters various signs foreshadowing the events. Mannequins appear in a store window, arms outstretched, and point enigmatically to something that’s about to happen. “The lead character is almost in the midst of his own role-playing game. He needs to follows clues to save the heroine”, said Andrew House, Sony’s executive vice president of marketing. In the ads, “we were essentially trying to tap into a range of emotions that we think we deliver in the games – intrigue, forebonding, excitement, panic, relief and achievement at the end”. Sony’s marketing also includes careful measurement of each campaign’s effectiveness. Foe example, Sony runs 30-second commercials for its Playstation as part of the previews in more than 1,800 theatres and on 8,000 movie screens. The ads appear before such films as “The Cat in the Hat”. Sony Computer Entertainment America has been running movie ads for six years.” Cinema advertising has been very effective for us”, said Amil Blaire, director of product marketing.” The reason why we have committed to cinema every year is the tremendous unaided recall shown by our own research and communicus – commissioned ad tracking”. Another example of measurement is Sony’s GenY youth marketing efforts. “The online program promoting the NetMD ATRAC CD Walkman and Cybershot U30 ran July 1 through September 30, 2003, and we found that more than 70 percent static banners”, said Serge Del Grosso, Director of Media and Internet Strategy, Sony Electronics”. In fact, Sony has even developed a direct-marketing solution which it sells to other companies who want to measure marketing effectiveness. The product, called eBridge[TM], allows marketers to use video, measure the effectiveness of the campaign, and gain insight into the target audience, all in one package. Sony expects that the next big breakthrough will not come from a single new electronic device.Rather, Sony President Kunitake Ando says that the future lies in making a whole range of devices more usefully linking them in a networked home-entertainment system. The company believes that its clout in consumer electronics, combined with its media content, will allow it to steer that convergence in a way that suits it. Whether the future of convergence resides in TV’s or PC’s or devices , $62-billion Sony makes every one of them- with a strong brand name that gives them an extra push off retail shelves around the world. 1. What have been the key success factors for Sony? 2. What recommendations would you make to senior marketing executives going forward? What should they he sure to do with its marketing? more

Resolved Question: Help me with my public service announcement for Drunk Driving?

This is our task: Your advertising company has been hired to create a Public Service Announcement related to one of the topics covered in Grade 8 Health. Your advertisement must fit in to a 30 second time slot, and thus must grab the viewer’s attention, convey information and provide sources of help in a very short time span. This must be an original piece and thus, can not break copyright laws! You will be evaluated for your research skills (Reading) as well as for your multi-media computer presentation (Oral and Visual Communication). Your overall task will be evaluated by how well you: • demonstrate an understanding of the selected topic • specifically target teenagers; • create an imaginative and eye-catching presentation; • show effort and skill when using Windows Movie Maker to advertise your message. It has to be targeted for teens, and I wanna get an A. I wanted to tape it, but I'm alone, so it'll look crappy. How do I make it look catchy without using my camera and taping anything? Resolved Question: I am doing my expository speech on iPods I need some help please?

here is what I have right now .... CAN SOMEONE please help me and give me some interesting facts and something i could include thanks : HERE IS WHAT I HAVE •iPods Notes •iPod is the brand of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple Inc. and launched on October 23, 2001. •Apple has lauched four verisons, shuffle, nano, classic, and touch •Apple's iTunes software can be used to transfer music to the iPod •As of September 2008, more than 173,000,000 iPods had been sold worldwide, making it the best-selling digital audio player in history •History •The iPods line came from Apple's "digital hub" category, when the company began creating software for the growing market of personal digital devices. Digital cameras, video cameras and organizers had been selling on mainstream markets, but the company found existing digital music players big and clunky or small and useless •The name iPod was brought to the table by Vinnie Chieco, a freelance copywriter, who was called by Apple to figure out how to get the word out about iPods. After Chieco saw a prototype, he thought of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and the phrase "Open the pod bay door, Hal!", which refers to the white EVA Pods of the Discovery One spaceshipApple researched the trademark and found that it was already in use. Joseph N. Grasso of New Jersey had originally listed an "iPod" trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in July 2000 for Internet information The first iPod kiosks had been demonstrated to the public in New Jersey in March 1998, and commercial use began in January 2000, but had apparently been discontinued by 2001. The trademark was registered by the USPTO in November 2003, and Grasso assigned it to Apple Computer, Inc. in 2005. •iTunes •Most everyone who uses or has an ipod uses iTunes for all their music needs. You can download itunes for free off the internet. Once you have it on your desktop you open it and go into iTunes Store and you can buy all your songs there. The advertised battery life on most models is different from the real-world. Most iPods were advertised with a 14-hour battery. A MP3.com put out and article saying that it was vitually impossible. In 2003, lawsuits were charged against Apple, complaining that the batteries lasted for shorter lengths of time than said and that the batteries slowy lost power over time and decreasing the battery life even more. Resolved Question: Peta Kills Its Animals!?

Did anyone know that in 2008 PETA saved 7 out of the 2,216 animals it took in. "In Virginia, PETA takes the notion of killing with kindness literally: only seven animals found a home out of the 2,216 it cared for in 2008. Seven animals managed a reprieve; the rest were loved to death. From the blog PETA Kills Animals: PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets. Just seven animals — out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record. Why would an animal rights group secretly kill animals at its headquarters? PETA’s continued silence on the matter makes it hard to say for sure. But from a cost-saving standpoint, PETA’s hypocrisy isn’t difficult to understand: Killing adoptable cats and dogs — and storing the bodies in a walk-in freezer until they can be cremated — requires far less money and effort than caring for the pets until they are adopted. PETA has a $32 million annual budget. But instead of investing in the lives of the thousands of flesh and blood creatures in its care, the group spends millions on media campaigns telling Americans that eating meat, drinking milk, fishing, hunting, wearing leather shoes, and benefiting from medical research performed on lab rats are all “unethical.” The bottom line: PETA’s leaders care more about cutting into their advertising budget than finding homes for the nearly six pets they kill on average, every single day." Can you believe that!? That absolutely BLOWS my mind, I didnt know PETA supported euthanasia this much. Can you believe this?? i didnt even know PETA supported euthanasia at all. It BLOWS my mind. more
