Resolved Question: I want to start a new political party, how do i do it ?

I would like to do this in the U.K and would like to know every thing that i need to know to start this up. I want to form a new national political party, but I would like some additional information before I dive into the process. A few items that could help me out: 1. What "red tape" must I go through to form this party? More specifically, will I need to register with any federal or state agency(s)? Keep in mind that I will be soliciting (via email, direct mail, and telephone) donations for the party. It might be a relavant fact in answering this question that the party's headquarters will initially be located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It will, however, be a national party. Along the same lines of this question, do I need to register as a not-for-profit organization? How? Basically, this question is an attempt to find out what (if any) forms and registrations I need to complete to form a national political party. Please spend the most amount of time on this question because if we as a party do something wrong here we could be breaking the law! I'd hate for the party to fall apart or be sued because we forgot to fill out some random form. 2. On the issue of donations, what are my options for people submitting donations online? What are the best payment service providers on the Internet. I know of PayPal, but are there others that might be better for this particular purpose of political contributions? 3. On that same note, I am preparing an initial e-mail that will be introducing the party and seeking contributions to get the party going. How can I get this email to a large (1mil or more), nationwide group of people? Of course, I'll be sending the email to everyone in my address book, and hopeful that they'll do the same, so on and so on, creating a snowball effect. But, is there also a way to get (or buy) lists of random email addresses that it would be legal to send out an email such as this to? I've looked on the internet, and it appears that one can buy such a thing of lists where people have opted in ... so, what service should I go through to buy this list of email addresses. Which service is the best? Things to consider: I want the email read, not sent directly to people's junk mail box. I want the email sent to as many people as possible up front and then just hope our ideas create a snowball affect. 4. Who should I get to build the party's website, which I hope will be state-of-the art? More specifically, what firms are rated highest in web development? 5. What are some of the top-notch marketing firms that could help in "branding" the party? Here, we're lookign for top-rated firms that specialize in political campaigns. Answers to the questions above would certainly be helpful. However, please feel free to throw any any other information/advice/tips that might be helpful in forming a political party. By no means limit yourself to the specific questions above, because Any and all information on the issue of "forming a political party" would be a great help. I would like to do this in the U.K and would like to know every thing that i need to know to start this up. Can any one help me ????? more

Resolved Question: Would it even be possible to prevent abortion these days?

I know we spend a lot of time debating the morality of abortion but, just supposing western countries did try to criminalise abortion, what would happen? For a start you have the fairly easy movement of people between countries. Poor women would suffer the most but many would be able to afford a flight to a nearby country where it was legal - such as Irish women travelling to England to get an abortion. You then have agencies like the 'Abortion Ship' - a boat which picks women up from ports and travels out to international waters in order to provide the woman with a chemical abortion. And then, even supposing women could not travel - there still remain many thousands of female doctors and nurses (as well as male) who may disagree with the criminalisation and would easily be able to perform the procedure in secret. On top of that, the pills required for chemical abortions are cheap and easy to manufacture and could be well supplied by the black market, this is even easier today with the rise of the internet - who will guess at a few pills in the post? So the question is, even if we criminalised abortion, would this stop women from having them? And is there any point criminalising something which can't be stopped anyway? What are your thoughts? :-) more

Resolved Question: Why did US officials help Pakistan steal nuke secrets?

LONDON: Senior US officials have helped Pakistan and other states to steal nuclear weapons secrets, a whistlebloweer has claimed. Intercepted communications showed former ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad and his colleagues stationed in Washington were in constant contact with attaches in the Turkish embassy, according to The Sunday Times. Sibel Edmonds, a 37-year-old former Turkish language translator for the FBI, listened into hundreds of sensitive intercepted conversations while based at the agency's Washington field office, it said. She approached the newspaper last month after reading about an Al-Qaida terrorist who had revealed his role in training some of the 9/11 hijackers while he was in Turkey. Edmonds described how foreign intelligence agents had enlisted the support of US officials to acquire a network of moles in sensitive military and nuclear institutions. According to Edmonds, she heard evidence that one well-known senior official in the US State Department was being paid by Turkish agents in Washington who were selling the information on to black market buyers, including Pakistan. Intelligence analysts said that members of the ISI were close to al-Qaeda before and after the 9/11 attacks on the US. Ahmad was accused of sanctioning a 100,000 dollars wire payment to Mohammed Atta, one of the 9/11 hijackers, immediately before the attacks, the report said. The newspaper claimed that it knew the name of the official, who has held a series of top government posts, but he strongly denies the claims. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/US_officials_helped_Pak_steal_nuke_secrets_Report/articleshow/2678687.cms more
