Resolved Question: Should I switch jobs now?

I've been in this industry (advertising) for 12 years, working hard moving up the ranks. I am now at what most people would see as a good place. Senior Manager at a MNC agency earning enough to support my single lifestyle. What I can't stand is the way the agency is run. It's almost like a family-run business filled with favouritism, bad-mouthing and emotion-based decision making. What's most disappointing is this originates from the boss - and as they say management set the workplace culture. If I quit now, I probably end up jobless for a few months or end up with one that pay less. I am constantly stressed-out at work as with most places during these times, everyone is expected to stretch. In this case way beyond, almost felt like being taken advantage of. What's your advise? Resolved Question: How to stop all this ENVY?

Im 15. My family is very well off and my parents have high ranking jobs. I have 3 brothers. But my problem is: I have everything I want, a great laptop, iphone, ipods, great living space, great school and education and all of that, but Im still envious of what others have. Like for example I have these friends who are not as well off as we are, but every 2 months they go abroad, around Europe or further away. One of their parents is in the advertising agency so does that have anything to do with their going off every other month?? Also im like jealous of this guy who has great looks, or this other guy with a great bod, or this girl coz shes popular and rich. Its tiring, VERY tiring not being able to enjoy all the luxuries i have because i keep on thinking of others, what they have and what I dont have. I mean, OK, this year we did a full renovation of the house, adding a pool, new floors, changing the whole garden landscape. And when we DO go abroad, once a year, we do stay at pricey hotels like the Hilton, or the Ritz in London, Paris, Spain, Athens and all that. Its not like I dont have what I ask for, its just that i cant enjoy it coz i think of what every1 else has. Resolved Question: Unemployed and can't find work. What should I do?

I am so frustrated. I have been unemployed for over 4 months now, ever since I moved to the Providence RI area (ranked #1 worst job market in the country). I moved here with my husband's military career and though I have a bachelor's degree and 5+ years experience in graphic design, I have not been able to get a job. I am online every day on the various job sites hunting for and applying for things. I have reworked my resume, cover letter and references. I have "snail" mailed applications, and applying to things outside of my field. I am frustrated because I have run out of money and can't pay my bills, the jobs that are available here ar part time clerical or medical or retail types. Part time would be some money, yes, but I still won't be able to cover all my bills with it. I cannot type- I have tried learning and I still can only type 16 WPM max. I am frustrated that people think just because I am a military wife, I should be happy to take any old job and like it, too. I have worked retail before and developed severe back pain as a result fo my heavy breasts. Military insurance will NOT pay for a breast reduction so am I just supposed to suffer with the pain and go work at Sears? Then when a permanent injury occurs (as it did with my dad) THEN what am I going to do? People tell me to just start a business doing freelance design, and I have tried, posting and posting and posting on craigslist, joining networking sites, building a site for my businesses but nothing is bringing in any money. I had another website to sell toiletries and such but in this economy I guess people aren't buying "luxury items" like that, so I have had to stop doing it as I can't afford to process the cc payments or advertise anymore. I'd like to go back to school but, again, no money, and I have missed the financial aid deadline for this year. Even if they'd pay my way through school i still would have no way to pay my bills. I have tried temp agencies, they all say they will call me when something comes in and I never hear anything else. I have tried telecommuting and work from home things and it's usually some job where they want you to do MLM, door to door or try to sell some crap to people they do not want, or they promise you this huge "salary" or say "unlimited salary" when you pay like $35 to join and just talk to everyone you see about the program (the only ones getting rich are the originators). I need some real help. I know we can't always get what we want but am I totally wrong for not wanting to take a menial job after I have spent years and thousands of dollars learning and then honing my craft? I actually wanted to cry when I went into a local retail store the other day for an application. I have a bachelor's degree with majors in Marketing and International Business. I have been employed for almost 2 years now and currently employed as a Senior Executive in one of the top-notch Advertising Agencies in Bangladesh. Since I already have a BBA from a top-ranked university in Bangladesh, a MBA is hardly an addition for me, however, I would like to enrich my knowledge in complimentary fields or something absolutely new. A “concentrated crackdown” on illegal immigrants started Friday night in Maricopa County. Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced he’s dispatched more than 200 deputies and posse members to saturate valley cities and roadways known to be corridors for human smuggling. East Valley hot spots include Bush Highway, U.S. Highway 60 and “any major highway,” said deputy chief Brian Sands. Arpaio said he’s also opening a hotline for tipsters to report suspected illegal immigrants. Arpaio said the program is comprehensive and controversial, but that it’s constitutional. “We’re not going to go out on a street corner and round up people because they look like they’re from a foreign country,” Arpaio said Friday. He said it’s nothing like Chandler’s infamous 1997 “roundup,” in which police officers swept the city in search of illegal immigrants. He added that no one has complained about racial profiling since his deputies began detaining illegal immigrants. Arpaio said his deputies have already arrested and jailed about 614 illegal immigrants on felony charges since the Arizona law against human smuggling passed in March 2006. The deputies’ strategies for the crackdown aren’t necessarily different from those they’ve been using already to target immigrants who have likely employed a human smuggler to help them enter the country. But they’ll have greater resources and more manpower with which to work. Deputies will use SWAT, aviation and electronic surveillance, night vision and high-tech weaponry to target vehicles commonly used to move large numbers of illegal immigrants, Arpaio said. If such a vehicle is stopped for speeding, for example, anyone inside the vehicle who’s determined by deputies to be an illegal immigrant will be arrested and jailed. Arpaio stressed the need for probable cause to arrest a suspect. That means a vehicle must have a fake license plate, be speeding, run a red light, or break some other law before deputies can pull over the vehicle and question its occupants. The crackdown, which has no end date, will utilize 160 deputies and officers who’ve been trained by federal agents to enforce immigration law. Of this group, 15 officers will be devoted strictly to the human smuggling unit funded by the state. To fill the personnel void this unit has created in the ranks, the sheriff said his office is recruiting officers from local and national police agencies to join his office through lateral transfers.
