For example, when I was younger, I had a book and several publications. None really made me a lot of money, but they defined an era of my life, and I learned a good deal from them that led me into a career as a writing and publishing professional, working for others, providing stability and a decent income for the family. Now, while my wife seemed to enjoy my independent work early on, in my 20s, as I approach my 40s, she often mentions some of my less successful projects disparagingly. Is there a way I can find out all/many of the advertising agencies in state of Ohio. i.e. in cities like Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Akron, Cincinnati etc. I cannot trust craiglist or any other job-search website anymore. Resolved Question: Problem with Judgment in small claims court?

Can anyone help me? The background to my small claims action is as follows. I offered on a flat and this was accepted. Having paid for a survey and my solicitors costs I discovered that the property didnt legally exist and was advertised with the agency as a consequence of a fraud, a sub prime mortgage, a desk top survey (didnt see the property) and inadequate or negligent legal enquiries. I asked that the mortgage company repay the costs associated with this aborted purchase. They refused to pay. The property was still owned by the local council and had been bought under the right to buy scheme as a house and had been illegally converted into flats and sold off at £500,000 and as such no permission was sought or granted and would never be granted to convert the property into flats. I filed a small claims action and at the last minute the court changed the time of the hearing. I attended at the time given to me on the notice but the hearing was listed for later that day. I couldnt be there and was amazed that the Judge heard the case in my absence and found for the Defendant - striking out the case and asking me to pay (within 2 days) the extortionate costs of a large law firm in London. I have previously tried to buy properties but pulled out when, say, I found the lease was too short, my legal adviser had advised me to or there was something wrong on a survey. In these cases I understand 'caveat emptor' but in this case the property didnt legally exist, has never existed and would never exist and but for the legal negligence and lack of a survey being done I would never have gone to see it. Compounding this is the knowledge that it is companies like this and transactions like this have caused the massive bailouts that we are now paying for. It seems extremely unjust. I have asked the Judge to set aside this action on the grounds of procedural irregularity and hope to have my time in court. Does anyone know what I can do if the court decides not to relist this matter? What recourse would I have, if any? Any advise would be extremely welcome. I am not accustomed to dealing with legal matters and the claim was made against the company who the agent told me was appropriate. However in the Defence they said they were agents for the mortgagees in possession and the incorrect Defendant but that if the Claim was against the mortgage company they defended that also. The Defence said they defended both the agent and the mortgage company and that caveat emptor applied in both cases. i'm starting to think employment agencies have quotas to meet or get paid for bringing in applicants. because they advertise jobs online, you submit your resume, they'll call you and have you come in, test, fill out paperwork, etc., then they give you their card and tell you to "give them a call later in the week". when you call, they tell you "its slow" or "nothing's come in". so what about the jobs they have advertised that you submitted your resume for in the first place? i'm registered with about 7 agencies and i registered with them because they had a job(s) listed that i believe i'm qualified for but i never get sent to interview for the job and dont hear nothing about the job when i register with the agency. do they even HAVE those jobs??? or are they advertising jobs just to draw in applicants because they have a quota to meet or do they get a base pay for bringing in a certain amount of applicants every week? more

So I've gone to a few websites which came up with the same problem... this website was hard to find. I'm a little peeved I can no longer access it. Basically, to most interested in this economics & technology stuff, you'd probably know that after certain Add-Ons and software became available within the last few years that blocked advertisements and pop-ups. Some agencies got annoyed, they said that website-viewers were "stealing" from them because they were not getting revenue from the advertisements the viewers had blocked - and had no intention of clicking. But anyway, certain websites that depend on this revenue decided that if it was detected that their advertisements were being blocked, then they should stop the viewer from having access to their site, and they should put up a notice saying that to view their site, the viewer must unlock advertisements. This website I have been visiting recently has done this. The first time I went on it on IExplorer, it said I had to complete a really long Tesco "Survey" by which its where the advertisers get money from advertising scams where I have to either write in my details or press "skip" for around 10 minutes thanks to how slow the web page takes to load. At this point I was pretty frustrated with searching - plus the TV series' Videos I was looking for were not hosted by Mega Video (Thank God), which is what I was looking for (Silly Limit). So I did the survey and watched the programs for a few days, after a little while this message came up.... "Oops, We've got a problem... Your browser/computer is blocking advertisements! It seems like you're trying to block advertisements from www.cpalock.com on this page. Since this page is sponsored by CPALock, you will not be able to access it's content until you disable the blocking of advertisement from www.cpalock.com." Quite annoying seeing as though I didn't download nor activate any add blocker, neither had I updated my browser or confirmed/denied any requests to block anything from my security software. I checked my IExplorer Add-ons and found no new add-ons I didn't recognize, and no add-ons that were designed to block advertisements. So I went to firefox, turns out its a really good, fast browser. The site wasn't blocked, so I was happy, a few days later (About an hour before I came to Yahoo Answers for help) the site has been blocked, about an hour and 10 minutes before I found this site had been blocked, I was on it, and happily using. This site only requires you to do the survey the first time you click the links to the series' episodes, which are all hosted on the same site. After this, a cookie present in your computer tells the site you've done the survey once. Now, whenever I click one of the links, the notice comes up. So what do I do? I'm not exactly what you'd call an experienced computer expert, plus I'm pretty naive in these things... Any help? On IExplorer, I went to Tools, and turned off SmartScreen Filter, I still couldn't view the website, then i turned it back on and scanned the website, Microsoft reported no threats, So my BitDefender probably wouldn't have blocked it... Wait.. I just checked, It's not on my BitDefenders black nor white list.... Is there anyway for me to search for which Add-on is causing this problem, and to either disable it or add the website to the white-list? I don't know what's changed in the last few days... I'm tempted to uninstall and reinstall Firefox, but I have a feeling it could be a problem with the website, or a very simple problem with my computer, probably something that, if located, only requires an "Opt Out"... I'm not looking for the best principal agency right now. The really good agencies are more exclusive and the not so great ones accept anyone. Stellar North Talent is one agency that I don't think will do me justice. The good agencies don't advertise and Stellar North was advertised on Craig’s list and their roster changes every month. I don't think endeavorbackground.com is great because it charges $220 to sign up for principal while most agencies have no sign up fee but have commission rates. Resolved Question: Are there a lot of real estate scams in Kentucky?

When I search online for a house to buy in Kentucky, I often see very nice bargain-priced houses. But when I look up the address of the house on Google Maps, I often can't find it. I get the impression a lot of the houses advertised in the MLS don't actually exist, or have wrong addresses, or something. Is it possible that a lot of those listings are fake, to try to get more customers for that real estate agency? If a customer wants to see the house, maybe they show them a lot of other houses and say that house is no longer available? I also noticed a house in Indiana with 25 photos posted in the listing, and those photos make it seem like a much more valuable house than it really is. The photos of the front of the house were omitted, because those would reveal the truth. Since I found that particular house with Google maps, I could also see the neighborhood, which made it even clearer how the house was worth far less than the impression of the photos. Is it possible that when a house has a wrong address, it's so people can't find it with Google Maps, so they can't see how bad it really looks until they get the real estate agent to show them houses? Maybe the house with the 25 photos was a mistake, in the sense that they should have given it a wrong address, so the customers couldn't see how big a lie the 25 photos were? more

Hello! I'm a senior at a University in New York, and obviously I'm looking towards graduation and finding a job. I am having difficulty figuring out exactly where to look (i.e. communicationsjobs.net, etc.) The degree I will obtain is a B.A. in RTVF (Radio, Television, Film), and it's within the "School of Communications" at the University. Besides 'Broadcast Journalism', this really is the only other option for a major within the School of Comm here. NEW YORK – Glenn Beck returns to Fox News Channel on Monday after a vacation with fewer companies willing to advertise on his show than when he left, part of the fallout from calling President Barack Obama a racist. A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air on Beck's show, according to the companies and ColorofChange.org, a group that promotes political action among blacks and launched a campaign to get advertisers to abandon him. That's more than a dozen more than were identified a week ago. While it's unclear what effect, if any, this will ultimately have on Fox and Beck, it is already making advertisers skittish about hawking their wares within the most opinionated cable TV shows. The Clorox Co., a former Beck advertiser, now says that "we do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk show hosts." The maker of bleach and household cleaners said in a statement that it has decided not to advertise on political talk shows. The shows present a dilemma for advertisers, who usually like a "safe" environment for their messages. The Olbermanns, Hannitys, O'Reillys, Maddows and Becks of the TV world are more likely to say something that will anger a viewer, who might take it out on sponsors. They also host the most-watched programs on their networks. "This is a good illustration of that conundrum," said Rich Hallabran, spokesman for UPS Stores, which he said has temporarily halted buying ads on Fox News Channel as a whole. Beck can bring the eyeballs. With the health care debate raising political temperatures, his show had its biggest week ever right before his vacation, averaging 2.4 million viewers each day, according to Nielsen Media Research. He was actually on another Fox show July 28 when he referred to Obama as a racist with "a deep-seated hatred for white people." The network immediately distanced itself from Beck's statement, but Beck didn't. He used his radio show the next day to explain why he believed that. He would not comment for this article, spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said. ColorofChange.org quickly targeted companies whose ads had appeared during Beck's show, telling them what he had said and seeking a commitment to drop him. The goal is to make Beck a liability, said James Rucker, the organization's executive director. "They have a toxic asset," Rucker said. "They can either clean it up or get rid of it." It's not immediately clear how many of the companies actually knew they were advertising on Beck's show. Sometimes commercial time is chosen for a specific show, but often it is bought on a rotation basis, meaning the network sprinkles the ads throughout the day on its own schedule. Sometimes ads appear by mistake; Best Buy said it bought commercial time for earlier in the day, and one of its ads unexpectedly appeared in Beck's show. One company, CVS Caremark, said it advertises on Fox but hadn't said anything about Beck. Now it has told its advertising agency to inform Fox that it wanted no commercials on Beck. "We support vigorous debate, especially around policy issues that affect millions of Americans, but we expect it to be informed, inclusive and respectful," said spokeswoman Carolyn Castel. Besides the unpredictability of the opinionated cable hosts, the rapid pace of today's wired world complicates decisions on where to place ads, said Kathleen Dunleavy, a spokeswoman for Sprint. She said she was surprised at how fast the Beck issue spread across social media outlets and how quickly advertiser names were attached to it. UPS' Hallabran said the decision to pull commercials "should not be interpreted as we are permanently withdrawing our advertising from Fox." He said the company wants to reach viewers with a wide spectrum of opinions. Except for UPS Stores, there's no evidence that any advertisers who say they don't want to be on Beck's show are leaving Fox. Network spokeswoman Irena Briganti said the companies have simply requested the ads be moved elsewhere and that Fox hasn't lost any revenue. She wouldn't say whether Fox was benefiting from any anti-anti-Beck backlash, with companies looking to support him. Some Beck supporters have urged fans to express their displeasure at companies for abandoning their man. Beck supporters have suggested that retaliation might have something to do with ColorofChange.org's campaign. One of the group's founders, Van Jones, now works in the Obama administration and has been criticized by Beck. But Rucker said Jones has nothing to do with ColorofChange.org now and didn't even know about the campaign before it started. Beck's strong ratings — even at 5 p.m. EDT he often outdraws whatever CNN and MSNBC show in prime-time — make it unlikely Beck is going anywhere even as the list of advertisers avoiding him approaches three dozen. Especially temp agencies (with the eception of Manpower) seem to post ads for jobs that don't exist. Office Team and Express Personnel are the two main culprits I've noticed. They post a job for a data entry specialist, then I apply (the same day) with over 3 years of experience and top typing speed, and then I call to check on my app, a few days later and all they do is register me in their system and tell me they'll let me know if a position comes up that matches my skills. When I have asked about the position advertised on their site, they give me some excuse about having to check with another person who oversees that job. Major B.S. I'm a first-time homebuyer who signed a Buyer Agency Agreement contract with my realtor. I signed it while doing paperwork after deciding to put in a bid for a house (I lost the bid when I was outbid by another buyer). Anyway, my realtor and I communicated via email mostly. When I found a house online I was interested in, I would email her the address and MLS#, and we would agree on a time to go look at it...usually the same day. I inquired about 5 houses this way. The first two I didn't like; the 3rd I lost a bid war (thats when I signed the papers), the fourth wasn't "residential" and that disqualified my loan, and the 5th I didn't get to look at because she said it was sold the day before. I emailed her the info to the fifth house I wanted to look at on June 9th. On June 10th she emailed me back and she said the house went under contract (offer accepted) just the day before. I was very disappointed that I had missed it by a day. Ten days later, on the evening of June 19th, I found this same house being advertised in the real estate section of craigslist. I called the agent that the house was listed under (I interrupted his supper) and when talking to him I found out that it was indeed available and it always was. The following Monday, June 22nd, I called him again and he verified verbally that the house was always available for sale. This past Friday, the 26th, I contacted him via email to ask, more specifically, if this house went under contract on the 9th of June, if only momentarily. He answered back that the house never did go under contract and he has no idea how or why I was told that. My realtor doesn't know that I've been in contact with the agent of this house and that I've confirmed through him that what she had told me about it being under contract was untrue. But I did ask her about it on Monday, June 22nd, to which she replied that it is indeed back on the market. I asked her what happened that it went "under contract" on the 9th, but is back on the market now. She stated that she would contact the agent and find out. That was this past thursday, the 25th. On friday, the 26th, she emailed me and she said she still hasn't heard from the agent as to why there was no sale on the house. I basically caught her in a lie. I haven't told her what I know, but because of all this I've lost all trust in her and her performance. I want to simply break the Buyer Agency contract with her, but I read through it and for the closing date of the contract, the date wasn't written, and its basically broken on the closing date when I find a house. Also, the contract isn't with her, its with who she works for...the broker. I don't want the broker to assign me someone else from his stable, I want this contract null and void so I can go find a reputable realtor to work with. I'm not sure how to go about attempting it, though. Do I contact the broker my realtor works for? Or do I talk with her directly, letting her know I found out the truth about the status of the house and that I don't want to have her work for me anymore? What would be the proper approach in this situation? The house in question is only about 2/3 the price of what I've normally been looking for...maybe she didn't want a smaller commission? I don't know...doesn't matter her reason, I want to break the contract and move onto someone else. BTW, I still haven't found a house (I decided to pass on the house in question because of basement issues) or another realtor yet.Expert Realtor: I DID ask her...re-read the question. All I've gotten from her were elusive or irrelevent responses. Finally I said: "Regarding the *** * **** house, as you may or may not recall, on the 10th of this month you stated via email that it had gone under contract the day before. But I found out this weekend that it is still available. So, naturally, I’m curious as to why I was told the house was unavailable at that time, but it is available now. I think it’s a question that anyone in my position as a homebuyer would seek an answer to." She then said that she'd call the realtor and let me know. I haven't heard from her since. I contacted the agent of the house myself 3 times. He's not a hard guy to get ahold of. Proudmom: thank you for the informative and insightful answer. We decided to adopt last month, a year after I brought it up with my husband after 4 years of infertility treatments and trying and no answers and not knowing why. He needed time to think about it and I gave him a year. I really gave him a year with no nagging or reminders. He had a full year of quiet to think about it and I respected that. So I asked the question, "It's been a year now, what are your thoughts?" And the answer was a completely open YES. We want to adopt. For two weeks I was so excited and we started researching the process. We filled out a general form and got a governmental number. We will take 6 classes of 3 hours each in a year from now and then pick a country and go through family investigations and then get acquainted with an agency which fits our criteria. Great. I am a 33 year old White American woman living in the Netherlands with a 35 year old White Dutch man. We fit the age criteria to adopt a very young child and we are married which is favorable. We got a list of "license holders" aka adoption agencies in the Netherlands with their websites. I started researching and all my old, naive, up in the air thoughts about adoption came crumbling to ruins. From this moment on I ask the respect of the readers to acknowledge the fact that we are aspirant parents giving consideration to the future of a child and ourselves and the time of consideration of all options of positives and negatives of all such people should be respected and assisted with knowledgeable good advise and this is something that we personally will not take lightly for the future of the life of a child or our own... Moving into this next step of our lives we start investigated all aspects of our emotions and concerns on the internet. To our dismay, we mostly find that all children ALL children available for international adoption are children with disabilities and the list is endless. We feel we are open minded, caring people, but this was a blow we were not prepared for. The web sites of the adoption agencies themselves seemed more like charity advertisements that could have just as well have been advertised on the discovery channel. It sounds very crude, but that is also our interpretation of the process. I also read more about the "classes" we will be required to take. 3 are general classes and then 2 are in reference to the culture you plan to adopt from and the last class (for everyone) is information about adopting children with special needs. Now, my criteria was pretty much set when I thought about this process. These stipulations made me confront myself and my ideals, beliefs, identity, everything. To my astonishment my husband actually felt the same way I did. We do no want to ask for a problem. We have certain expectations and they are just there. I don't want to change them. That is who we are. I have been combating myself telling me there is something wrong with me that I do not want to adopt extra problems and that I have expectations and shame on me for not having an open heart for the S.N. children and don't they deserve a good home? Yes, but something tells me from within, not with me! We probably would fall in love with a S.N. child, or an older child, but (well that's just it... there will always be a BUT in our family!) I don't want to go into a process where a "Charity" tries to talk you into something you already know you don't want to do. Maybe we are just really selfish people. God does not allow us to have children and if we choose to adopt it will be a child of special needs. All the love, treasures, joy, and life lessons/gifts these children may be able to give you, I have to tell God, I'm sorry, you gave me an instinct and this instinct is telling me/us, no... we want a healthy child that will fit in with our family or grow old and end up alone.... I can't fight this feeling. And I feel ashamed I am not open to opening up my life for more children in need. For all of you people out there judging aspirant parents but haven't been throgh the process yourself, I hope you hear this and really hear this. It is painful for both parties. Guys first of all let me say I am not your typical Mexican. I am 33 and was born, raised and live in Tijuana Mexico across from San Diego CA. I am a music artist just signed by a record label in the UK (England). I do English and Scottish brogues for commercials and videos as well as character voices for dubbing movies (from English 2 Spanish and viceversa) I have a T-Shirt brand I made up I have a BA in Communications and advertising I have been a TV reporter and sportscaster (Have covered the Superbowl, dude I've been to a Superbowl! Check off my bucket list ;-). I speak English as good as Spanish I am a published author (albeit in English travel magazines, but published non-the-less) I'm a rambling Mexican, I have traveled through Europe for months at a time, have driven from New York to Seattle and then to San Diego also for months. I played football (American Football, not soccer) for 8 years (since junior high to college) I am a freelance creative copywriter for ad agencies As you can see I do not fit the first connotation (racist or not) people have set as a paradigm or preconception for Mexicans. But man, due to so many of my "paisanos" being in the US illegally it is so stinkin difficult for those of us who would like a shot at trying our talents there legally to even get a shot. Those are my creative characteristics, also note worthy is I am skilled in sales techniques and train sales teams on how to be more efficient and effective. I can travel into and out off the US at will. I have had a a visitor visa all my life and renew it every 10 years. But I am also a law abiding citizen and would never work in the US illegally, so... Suggestions anyone? Cuz unless you are a doctor/nurse or have engineering phd or what-not you are not even considered. Real Estate Question: Broker Related OK I am selling my studio co-op, because I am getting married and need to get into a bigger place than I have right now. I did a fair amount of research on property values and believe it is priced right. I signed with a real estate agent who lives in my building and, without doing research on %ages, signed a deal for 6% for 6 months. I'm kicking myself now, but what can you do. Anyway. The place was put on the market and I asked where it was advertised, I was told 1. Online (which is only craigslist), 2. In the local newspaper, and 3. Multiple Listing Services So... 1. Online (craigslist) - I checked craigslist and it was listed as a 1 Bedroom in the title of the listing (remember its a studio), the body of the listing was correct. I called them and got a sob story how it wasn't their fault and the person who puts the stuff online messed up and it will be fixed, etc. etc. It was fixed a few days later, and I then checked it yesterday and it says $0 for association fee (maintenance), this is clearly incorrect, and there's no excuse, my Realtor lives in my building and knows that every co-op has a maintenance fee, (what co-op or condo does not? how could their listing system not flag this). Note, I have since started printing out everything that is being listed. 2. I asked them to tell me what days it was put in the paper, and they gave me the run around, mind you, I have checked the paper daily and since 2/1 it has been in the local paper TWICE (as of 4/1). When I finally got the straight answer that it was only in the paper twice they said that the owner of the agency approves what actually makes it into the paper and they have send the co-op to be listed almost daily. 3. The MLS listing has the co-op listed with $0 association fee as well. To add insult to injury.... - not ONE person has come to look at the co-op in 2 months. I know the economy is down, but this is a desirable location and extremely affordable (cheap). Is there any way I can fire this broker or terminate this contract? I see them frequently in my building, but I am really getting sick of them. Every time see them they give me another sob story the listing problems weren't their fault and they are trying oh so hard to sell my place... Obviously, I don't want to end things on a bad note and think I can get around it. Also I have a few personal contacts that are interested in the co-op, if I sell it I'm obviously obligated to pay the fee to the Realtor, I wouldn't want that to happen that way. If I can get out of this listing I will advertise the living daylights out of it myself and see how I can go about selling it on my own. Can I list on MLS on a for sale by owner? Any thoughts? Cliffs: 1. Co-op for sale for 2 months 2. Signed 6% for 6 months with a Realtor, I know I made a mistake... 3. The Realtor has made multiple mistakes listing the co-op (read above for examples) and has barely advertised it. 4. I want to terminate the relationship with the Realtor. 5. I'm 22 years old, and about to apply for my absolute dream job, but i have a problem. I saw the job advertised in a national newspaper (online version), and e-mailed my CV, with a very brief note attached. However, i have now discovered who the job is for (in the newspaper, it was directed to a job agency who would forward the details on), and went onto their website. On their website, they list a few extra skills that i would need, and i have all those skills, but because they were not mentioned in the newspaper advertisement, i didn't put them down in my CV. Also, they said please attach a covering letter about why you want this job etc, but my additional note/covering letter was extremely brief. I want to send my CV directly to the company, rather than through the newspaper and job agency, because it would be better than the earlier one i sent. However, would sending 2 CV's in, one with a better covering letter, mean that they would get annoyed and not consider me. What would be your advice? Should i leave it as it as, or go ahead and send them my reworked CV. more

We just came back from Jaco Costa Rica. We found a small cluster of sportfishing boats near costaricadreams.com they are great boats with big savings and excellent service. we went out on the 34 ft diamante a 10 ft beam , lots of cover. we hooked up 7 rooster fish. the full day cost us $ 695.00 We asked some of the bigger companies. The price were much higher. I understand overhead , Is there a rule of thumb for price of the sizes of boats. Or is all based on top shelf advertising ? anyone know. I love fishing with people who tell you how it is. We have been put on a list to stay informed as to when the fish are hitting. are there fishing reports , that are not a booking agency ? I enrolled in Peennn foster sometime last year. I was doing it for like 3 months and then noticed that it was listed in rip off report for their scams and everyone was having problems with them. So I canceled my account and everything was all set. I am not saying I must pay 700$ or continue with my min. payment and continue with the program. I jsut got off the phone with them and the lady was very rude to me, and basically threating me to pay it now or it will go to an outside collecttion agency. and then she hangs up on me I would have no problem continuing, but... a month into it was like I was on my own.. No one was there.. I sent emails and got no replies and no calls returned. WHo would I talk to abou this. This is just outrageous that I am going to get billed for it even after all this. I recommend no one to go with this online schooling for no reason. it is complely false advertised and dont want to be in this situation. What sould I do about this situation, if there is anything. ? Why do you think that an agency would advertise: Caucasian, Latino, Asian and East Indian babies for $18,000 (prices guaranteed through Dec 31, 2007.) Caucasian, Latino, Asian and East Indian babies for $20,000 (prices guaranteed through June 30, 2009.) African American babies for $12,000 (prices guaranteed through June 30, 2008) African American babies for $12,000 (prices guaranteed through June 30, 2009) These are the placement fees listed by an agency. They have all other fees listed separately. The only other major difference I saw in fees was the Program fee which was 5K for both years for the Caucasian, etc. and which went from 2K to 3K for the African American fee. What do you think about an African American child having less value than a “lighter skinned baby” and how do you feel about participating in this industry knowing that there is such obvious racism involved? more
