Resolved Question: What should i do about my salary?
I started a new job 2 months ago, which was advertised as 'up to £23k per annum'. I told the recruitment consultant I wanted £23k, and was told this would be passed on to the company. However, when I was offered the job, i was told the maximum salary was only £21k. As the job market is so bad, i said i would take the job anyway. Another employee who started the same job as me at the same time also had the same problem. They have since left, and the job is being advertised again with 3 different agencies as 'up to £23k per annum'. I feel this is unfair, but don't want to cause problems with my new employer. It's only £2k but i commute 80 miles a day to this job, and the extra would really help! moreResolved Question: Are there any agencies in the North West (UK) that I can work with to sell advertsing space to companies?
I work for an NHS trust and we are looking to bring in extra revenue. I would just like the name of at least one company that I can contact, get them to sell the ad space to companies and share the generated revenue. There has got to be one surely??? We are looking at panel advertising (like train / tube stations) P.S. I know flicking through a phone book is the alternative so please don't suggest it. moreVoting Question: buying a puppy?? dalmatian?? other breeds?? please be aware of PUPPY SCAMS!!!! beware!!!!!!?
i have been looking to buy a dalmatian puppy for ages i live in london, croydon and well there isn't many about i found a breeder who only wanted 150!!..bargin?? advertised in london.. brilliant!.. but then once i emailed 2 different advert, both similar stories yet worded differently i must say this person is very convincing!! even offered the puppy free! hmmm?? already raising alarm bells, he asked A lot of questions playing the concerned breeder! and then said i could have the puppy only needed to pay delivery!! im not that thick! esp as i have to pay delivery UPFRONT...! anyway i wanted to post the email i recived so anyone looking for a puppy dont fall for it!, tho i do not know this is a scam im certain it is.. here the emailreceivedved Hiya Thanks for emailing me back, that shows your interest for the little puppies.i was also very happy to see that you provided answers to my questions and a detailed description of your family because i now know the kind of home where my puppy will be going to and i am confident enough that the puppy will be given all the love and care that i have ever wanted for her.i will feel more than over the sky with you updating us with pics of the puppy monthly.lucky enough i am on my computer now,I have attached some recent pictures of the female puppy for you to view, LOL i speak some times not good English so my apologies.in my previous email i provided you with my house address so that you could use it to view the puppies if possible pick the one of your choice. But isince you think it is too far to travel up to Scotland to view the puppies, then i will help you arrange for the puppy to be delivered at your door steps by a pet courier service that helps people to relocate their pets where you will be responsible just for the delivery fee only, and It will cost you about £160 for a single puppy to be delivered to your home via courier,And you will have to pay the money directly to the courier service.Since the puppy will be coming by air,you will have to make the payment upfront.cus the courier service will need to issue out an Air ticket to the puppy ,fit the puppy into a temperature regulating crate so that any weather or temperature change will not affect the life of the puppy while on transportation to your home.as such the puppy will not have any problem traveling for such a long distance.About the delivery, if it is okay by you, then i will need your details such as: YOUR FULL NAMES........... HOUSE ADDRESS............. STATE............................ CITY............................... POST CODE....................... LAND LINE...................... MOBILE LINE................... NEAREST AIRPORT TO YOUR HOME......... As soon as i receive these details, then i promise you i will start processing the transfer of ownership document to your names and address so as to certify your full ownership of the puppy, there after i will contact the Courier Service and drop your details alongside with the puppy and papers at the delivery agency for registration of delivery to your home ok.The courier service will then contact after the registration via email and phone for you to confirm your home address, then they will direct you how to make total payment of £160 for the delivery since you will be paying directly to them. After you have confirmed your address and made the payment they will provide you with the registration tracking details and schedule so that you can know the the delivery status of your puppy and arrival time of the puppy at your door steps ok,So just get back to me now with the details so that i can get along with the necessary arrangements . i will be waiting to read from you soon! Thanks and Best Regards i also would never want my puppy to be sent as some form of package!, anyway i hope ive got the message across to you now...if anyone kn ow where i can find a dalmatian puppy in london without delivery charge!! lol, do please let me know it dont need to be in london im willing to travel..tho perhapsaps not to scotland!!!!if its an old scam to you dont read it then and dont comment!! it was new to me tho i knew of scams i never came across one, thank you to all the ppl with constructive advise much appreciated, it seems ppl must have lots of time on their hands to read 'old scams' then decided to comment! moreVoting Question: graduated from fine art and want to persue career in advertising.. possible?

Hi there people, look I needed to ask this because I am in uproar with how things are being dealt with in the country, especially two that is 'unemployment' and 'redundancy'. Now i want to ask people round the county, do you ever see recruitment agencies advertising jobs that are non existent in your local job centre just so they can get you on their books, well I have heard rumours, and I for one think that is wrong and should be dis-allowed. I have been made redundant got a loan I can't pay off and the last thing i need is the job centre and recruitment agencies messing me about its disgusting and absurd. moreVoting Question: anyone have a logo i can use that shows an outline of a house?

I ideally want a fully integrated agency who can deal with radio, print and digital advertising. I previously used a London based agency, but the distance proved somewhat of a pain as I had to regularly commute up to visit them. My company is Bristol based, although we operate on a national level. Many thanks moreResolved Question: What has happened to Barry Scott?
he's lost all the shouty in his voice! did he finally get clamped down by the advertising agency?!? moreResolved Question: Hidden agendas of employment agencies?
Why do temping agencies advertise vacancies in local newspapers or with Jobcentreplus, etc, when the vacancies can easily be filled by their registered clients? For example, a position for a Warehouse Operative was recently advertised in a local newspaper. I'm sure the agency has plenty of registered clients who could easily fill that position. Could it be just a ploy to get more people on their books so that they can impress potential clients (employers) with how many job hunters they have registered with them. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Do advertising agency media planners always use SRDS for ad planning?

The next time you hear a politician use the Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about Whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money. I saw an advert for American airlines the other nite on telly. Their slogan was, at the end, 'we know why you fly.' Well, mate, I dont know bout you, but the reason i fly is cos that's about the only way to get from A to B across the ocean, unless you like a long boat ride. I mean, what are they suggesting? that people fly so they can s*ag in the public toilets, or flirt with some cabin crew who never look as hot at they do in the adverts, or cos they love being sardined in between people for hours? f*cks sake, and these people work for major ad agencies. Do you think this is a good slogan, or do you agree it qualifies for the top ten most laughable of all time? x moreResolved Question: Is the Love2Recyle.com advert racist ?
http://www.youtube.com/user/love2recyclelovebug This advert has been screened on British TV and is being investigated by the UK Advertising Standards Agency on suspicion of promoting and aiding racial hatred. Note: The Meixcan/Hispanic is portrayed as bug/vermin.It would be racist if it had shown a wight British male as a bug/vermin or indeed any other race. moreResolved Question: Moving to America to work for a year...?
If I'm in England and want to get a job in California, say, just for a year, what's the best way to go about it? Apply for a job hoping they'll give me a VISA? Apply for a job and sort my own VISA out? If so what VISA? Go over there on a whim, get a part time job based on a free 3 month VISA and hoping to get a proper job - then upgrade VISA somehow? I'm not entirely sure how the process works or what is the best route to take. Any advice/help would be much appreciated! Thanks FYI: I would be applying to international advertising agencies eg JWT/DDB moreResolved Question: Job agency commission.?
Commission rates for Employment Agencies? Someone I know recently secured employment through a job agency. The rate of pay was advertised as just over £6.20. However the pay slip has stoppages on it which I don't understand NI is fair enough, but there is something called "sub" too. Is this commission paid to the agency for finding you the work. In real terms the person involved is only being offered 14 hours a week and therefore can not claim working tax credits. This is their first job and they are understandably worried about creating a scene, though they had expected 16 hours a week at interview (was fooled as they did not realise lunch breaks did not count towards hours). In real terms the person is only receiving 57% of their gorss pay and would be better off on JSA. Any advice? Thanks. moreVoting Question: Landlords and holding deposits?
Can a landlord take two holding deposits from two different people at the same time for the same flat? A landlord advertised a flat with at least two different estate agencies and took holding deposits from two couples, then changed her mind for both and they were left stuck the day before they were due to move. Can they do that, I thought a deposit was a guarantee for the flat amd that all other advertising etc is to be withdrawn?References cost £100, how can we pay for references when the flat was never guaranteed, even though that's what a deposit is! So have we lost the £100? moreResolved Question: Notice required if employer realises you don't have a signed contract?
I worked for the NHS part time for 5 months through an agency and was taken on permanently and have been doing my job for 7 months. Lately there have been a few things that I'm not happy with about my job as some things that have arisen re overtime pay, carers leave etc were not covered fully when I first started so I have been left out of pocket on a few occasions. At this time I need to work full time hours so have been looking for jobs but in a catch 22 as I want to go back to Agency work but jobs are gone before my required notice would take effect. However, on Friday, I received an e-mail from the HR department stating I hadn't signed a contract of employment. There had been a lot of cock ups when I first started with paperwork and their department losing forms which I had to complete again so I assumed that the contract was delayed and then forgot all about it. If I had signed a contract then I would have had to give 4 weeks notice, however, as I technically don't have a contract then do I still have to give four Weeks notice of my intention to leave or would 3 weeks be sufficient? That way they have a few weeks to re advertise through an agency and I would be able to cover staff holidays. All advice gratefully received and sensible answers only please!! ThanksThank for your answer Randy, when you accept the post the HR department posts out a contract of employment to your home address, I never received one. As I said, there had been a few mix up and I assumed that the contract was delayed in coming to me then thought no more about it once I started work. Had I signed a contract then I would honour the terms but in effect I am without a contract so I am not covered by their terms also. moreResolved Question: Adverising Agency????????????????????????
Hi im 16 and am looking for an agent but my town is very small so I have not been able to find one. Would it be appropriate to call local advertising agencies and ask them how they hire people for print/tv work? Would they tell me that? moreResolved Question: Do you think I'm being scammed ?
I've advertised a room for rent on Craigslist. A women form S.Africa has responded saying she is coming to England for a 6month media course with the BBC in Bristol. She wants to send me SA$3000 in advance and then I'm to purchase her airline tickets and deduct a months rent......here's the e-mail.......... ******About payment: I intend arriving 10 december. My 1 month Voice grooming at the local BBc radio at Bristol start 5th January 2010. Probs is ive been granted a $3,000 travel cheque (equivalent £1,700GBP) to pay for my accommodation and flight ticket inclusive. It was supposed to be arranged by agency. I found that most UK agencies charge exhobitant handling fees! And their room rent per month or week are killing too. So im left with you to help. So what i plan doing is asking my ceo to re-issue it in your name for payment of rents/deposit. Ofcourse it will include money for my flight ticket. Thus after you deduct your rent amount, you will give £700GBP to the SAA agency to book my flight from your side. Simply go cash the cheque from the airport or any uk post office. My time is close at hand, very near. If you are willing , let me call you to explain further. Or simply give me name to issue it in and address to send it by courier on or before banking hours of Friday. Is it okay? ******* Is it some sort of scam? Moneylaundering perhaps ?I know it's a scam.....I'm just wondering exactly how they benefit. I don't quite get how they make money. What good are the air tickets? moreResolved Question: I am trying to find unapaid work in the marketing industry, I've e-mailed agencies, but nothing yet. how come?
i study marketing in birmingham, uk, and i'm trying to find some unpaid work with an advertising agency just to get more accustomed to the type of work and gain some experience. i don't expect payment, i been emailing companies, but noone's interested. where do i find information on how to find opportunities like these? moreResolved Question: Is it better to apply for a job advertised on a company's website or to go through a recruitment agent?
I saw a temp job advertised on a job board by a specialist (HR industry) recruitment agency. They'd changed the title slightly, but by looking at the skills being asked for / doing a bit of detective work, I was able to locate what was obviously the same job on the website of the client company (a very big one) only on a pemanent basis. I assume they must be looking for someone as a temp until they fill the slot? I'd actually be interested in either as I was recently made redundant. I know that many companies in my sector, and especially in London, prefer to use recruitment agents, despite there being a fee (ironic given I'm in HR). My question is, were I to post my CV directly to the company's website, is it less likely to be looked at than if a recruitment consultant put me forward? Do companies genuinely use their own recruitment sites at all or are they there "for show"? I've only ever made career moves with agencies to date and it seems the only way to get a job in London ...Perfect CV: thanks for your honesty. Recruiters are usually keen to put me forward for roles after meeting/talking to me: I come across well at interview, so they expand on my CV. However,I had a bad experience with one last year, hence my trepidation: this guy found my CV online, called me at work (he clearly googled it and called reception - very bad practice) then submitted my CV, which was a near perfect match for quite a niche HR role. After a couple of weeks he told me that I hadn't got through for interview. However, in the interim I had a couple of very professional agents, who I'd met, signed up with formally and trusted, call me re: the same role. Both were surprised to hear I hadn't got through, and suspected that this guy might not be on said company's contracted agencies list. She explained that as I'd already been put forward by this guy, I wouldn't be able to get the job unless it was through him, as he'd introduced me. You have to be careful ...Oh I just clicked - PSL means what I've called contracted agencies, right? Preferred Supplier List? (I'm in L&D, hence my unfamiliarity with recruitment jargon). moreResolved Question: What Could Shane Warne Advertise Next?
Considering that Shane Warne's hair replacement adverts have just been banned by the Advertising Standards Agency for being misleading ( http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/25112009/58/gooch-warne-bald-cure-ad-ban.html ) he'll probably be in need of other employment, so what do you think he could advertise next? moreResolved Question: How to find immigrant women to marry.?
First let me start off by saying I do not plan on doing anything illegal. This would be an arguably legit marriage. She would be expected to perform ALL the tradition wifely duties, cook, clean, share in the household expenses and of course share my bed. In exchange she would naturally get supported financially, have a roof over her head, and yes get sponsored for a green card. I have recently looked into some mail order sites, but those agencies charge you and seem like they might be scam. Surely there must be no shortage of women already here in country who would like to marry a young relatively good looking citizen. How do I go about finding them as I am sure they do not wear huge tags around their necks advertising the fact they they are in country illegally. Don't think that I am looking for a slave like some posters have suggested. I think the situation would have plenty of benefits for the woman as well. Not only would she become legal, she would get emotional support in a time and place where she is alone and unfamiliar, a chance to return to her home country and visit relatives without fear of never being able to return etc, etc. the only difference between this and most other marriages would be that instead of vague notions of romance and love we would both be thinking more practically. moreResolved Question: Problem with Judgment in small claims court?
Can anyone help me? The background to my small claims action is as follows. I offered on a flat and this was accepted. Having paid for a survey and my solicitors costs I discovered that the property didnt legally exist and was advertised with the agency as a consequence of a fraud, a sub prime mortgage, a desk top survey (didnt see the property) and inadequate or negligent legal enquiries. I asked that the mortgage company repay the costs associated with this aborted purchase. They refused to pay. The property was still owned by the local council and had been bought under the right to buy scheme as a house and had been illegally converted into flats and sold off at £500,000 and as such no permission was sought or granted and would never be granted to convert the property into flats. I filed a small claims action and at the last minute the court changed the time of the hearing. I attended at the time given to me on the notice but the hearing was listed for later that day. I couldnt be there and was amazed that the Judge heard the case in my absence and found for the Defendant - striking out the case and asking me to pay (within 2 days) the extortionate costs of a large law firm in London. I have previously tried to buy properties but pulled out when, say, I found the lease was too short, my legal adviser had advised me to or there was something wrong on a survey. In these cases I understand 'caveat emptor' but in this case the property didnt legally exist, has never existed and would never exist and but for the legal negligence and lack of a survey being done I would never have gone to see it. Compounding this is the knowledge that it is companies like this and transactions like this have caused the massive bailouts that we are now paying for. It seems extremely unjust. I have asked the Judge to set aside this action on the grounds of procedural irregularity and hope to have my time in court. Does anyone know what I can do if the court decides not to relist this matter? What recourse would I have, if any? Any advise would be extremely welcome. ThanksMore details about this action: I was given a notice to attend at 10 am and when I arrived they said it was listed for 3pm. The court didnt know what time the Defendant had been told to attend and contacted them by phone (as they do not keep copies of notices) and they also said they had a notice to attend at 10 am. The court usher said that their legal adviser had however called on the friday before (the hearing was on the following Monday) and was 'told' to attend at 3pm. I am not accustomed to dealing with legal matters and the claim was made against the company who the agent told me was appropriate. However in the Defence they said they were agents for the mortgagees in possession and the incorrect Defendant but that if the Claim was against the mortgage company they defended that also. The Defence said they defended both the agent and the mortgage company and that caveat emptor applied in both cases. I couldnt return at 3pm but left note for judge saying this/outlined caseJust wanted to say thank you to the retired solicitor who responded - much appreciated! I didnt know about the option to appeal to a circuit judge - thanks. Is it the case that once it goes to that level the costs increase? Thank you once again - helps me to prepare for possible eventualities!Just wanted to say thank you to the retired solicitor who responded - sorry tried to reply to you personally but didnt know how to - your advice is much appreciated! I work in a particular company. I saw a job posted externally with the usual recruitment agency my company uses. It is a job that people are already doing in my place of work. I phoned and said I work for the company and could I apply for it as it was a different role that interested me. The girl in the recruitment agency told me that it might be an old posting and that she would look into it and if anything came up she would let me know. Lo and behold, later that day the job was removed. I would normally not waste my breath over this sort of thing except that I know for a fact people have applied for the position. I know that legally the company does not have to advertise internally if they feel they do not have a candidate suitable to fill the role. but I feel like it is a bit of a slap in the face. i have been working all my life ever since before I got married for 14 years with no gaps of unemployment in Asia as a graphic/digital artist in major advertising agencies and global publishing firm until I joined my wife in the UK after her 1 year working here in the UK, I joined her in November 2004 as Dependent's Visa holder. My employment was like on and off and most of them are only part-time or freelance assignments. I only had an over a year of full-time job from 2005-2009 may be because it was really tough also to work here as a couple with 2 small kids with no relatives, so when I was employed full-time I gave up to take care of the kids. We were supposed to be applying for ILR in Nov. 2008 (she has 5yrs) but she messed around with another guy and that was the cause of our separation and I think there's no more chance of going back to her. Right now, I am still working part-time or freelance as a web/graphic designer. Still tough because of the recent recession and very difficult now to get a full-time job. Now my question is this, what's going to happen with my Visa which is currently a Resident's Permit until 2013? Can I apply for ILR without her? I haven't been exit the country since I came here straight for 5 years now. I hope I could find the answer here and thank you in advance. moreResolved Question: What are the costs of hiring a professional advertising agency?

I'm a live and let live fella i try to mind my own business but one day in town i noticed lots of the shops selling Eastern European goods, phone booths with adverts for Polish and Czech phone cards, agencies advertising in about 10 different languages. Every fast food joint had foreigners working there so did most of the cafes. The place was almost alien to me. The really unsavoury aspect was the amount of prostitutes in the open trying to tout business. They were all foreigners too. When did mass immigration hit home with yourself? when did it dawn on you just how bad it was? I'm not expecting comments about "they only do the jobs locals won't do" theres always been locals working for minimum wage in cafes chippies and burger joints, and we have our own hookers as well.Crow: i've never been cheeked on the street until a few years ago, Polish never give way on the pavemment like the locals do, i'm not walking into oncoming traffic so i will barge through them. Some Polish fella told me to fu'ck off once for not being able to give him directions to "Abbey" like abbey what? grey abbey newtonabbey the abbey nantional bank? and an African girl clicked her fingers in my face and sucked her teeth with a tut because i passed her on the street. What was that all about?John: we have a B&B in our estate thats used by "asylum seekers" and economic migrants, absolute nightmare living across from it. Taxi's honking their horns at all hours or the economic migrants staggering back from wherever shouting their heads off in Polish then the neighbours husband is coming out in his slippers and smacking all round him for waking the kids up.Ross: yes the government and employers like them, everybody else hates them and i'm one person that agrees with the majority. Keep your bigoted useless opinion to yourself. moreResolved Question: What is your understanding of the (digital) media, communications and marketing industry?

Why is this lady whom worked illegally for the Attorney General, and the lady advertising for Tesco still in this country. Was the UK Borders agency not set up for to remove these categories of people immediately on being found. Or are they just another New Labour talking shop just to look good with the British Public. I stayed one week over my visa expiry date in America, to attend a funeral. got caught in a Police spot check thrown in the cells for two days and promptly put on a plane to Heathrow. Passport stamped DEPORTED FROM USA. So what the hell are the UK Borders agency playing at. An advertising agency has asked for submissions to photograph a new Alessi juicer, which has been designed by an Italian design team and has won several prestigious design awards.
